President-elect Donald Trump is setting a course to keep the H-1B visa program honest and "stop the grift" in the program, political analyst Dick Morris told Newsmax Saturday. Morris further said on Newsmax's "The Count" that he does not think there is a divide among conservatives concerning the program, which allows companies to hire foreign workers for employment in specialty occupations. "I think Trump is just enforcing his will," Morris said. "That program has been rife with corruption ever since it started under the Clinton administration. [Alejandro] Mayorkas, the head of the immigration service, was literally working with Hillary's brother...

In the fine bad cattitude tradition of “making everyone angry by weighing in on multiple sides of issues of current calamity,” here comes a whole set of takes on immigration, economy, and culture. Some of it is likely to make many people mad. But let’s remember: not liking a fact does not make it false, and not agreeing with everything that someone says does not invalidate the points they make. This one seems to have really brought the bats down from the rafters, and I’m sure we’ll get a comments section for the ages. But please, can we do two...

And don’t forget, even though conservatives are still on a post-election sugar high, the Democrats haven’t gone away. I absolutely guarantee you, they’ll be putting all kinds of pressure — fame, fortune, praise, pop-culture love — on weak-kneed Republicans in 2025. Beginning on Jan. 20, there’s going to be an open casting call for a MAGA traitor. Call him (or her) a Judas, a Brutus, or a Benedict Arnold; the fact remains that the first person to plunge a dagger into the back of Trump will be showered with candy, flowers, and wild, passionate love from the left. And someone...

When the frequent court foes of Donald Trump’s first administration look back at the early days of his presidency, they recall “building the airplane as we were flying it,” as outgoing Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson has described it. That was especially true of the intense and quick-moving court fight over the so-called travel ban, a seminal 2017 lawsuit that set the tone for four more years of legal confrontations. None of the Democratic state attorneys general who originally took Trump to court over that controversial policy will still be in office when he is inaugurated next month. But their...

“Moral wisdom.” Look at the topic, then try to guess in advance where this discussion will go. Headline this week in The Atlantic, for an essay from a writer with a covering-all-supposed-mainstream-bases employment history at the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the New Republic: I’m ambivalent about the death penalty — not because I hesitate to kill monsters, but because I don’t believe government never makes mistakes. But this discussion of Joe Biden’s death row commutations as an example of moral wisdom is…interesting. It works well as an example of the ways that people who make arguments for...
