Late-night comedy hosts including Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel spent 2024 repeatedly bashing now President-elect Donald Trump — and experienced another bad year as their cultural relevance and viewership continue to crash.
The network comedians told a total of 1,463 jokes about Donald Trump and Kamala Harris during the recent fall election period, with a whopping 98 percent of them aimed at Trump, according to a recent study by the Media Research Center. The study covered the period from September 3 through October 25.

Late Night Commedy shows are taped late afternoon and are not funny.
They serve no purpose and have no reverse gear.

I can see a guy like Musk not caring if he lost some money every year on a network.
But NONE of these companies are in his league so they can’t just throw away money to support their leftist causes.

Late night comedy ended with Carson. Comedy in general ended with Carson. It is all off color, hateful and not in the least funny.

Johnny Carson was pretty damned anti-Republican, too... it’s just he was “nicer” about it. In Carson’s world, Reagan was a bumbling, corrupt buffoon.
Leno was worse; He’d make jokes Bob Dole (ptuh!) was presented as a mean-spirited, bitter man who’d rape Granny and then push her in front of a a train, and to balance that, he’d make a joke about Bill Clinton liking hamburgers; the effect was that the Republican was a monster, but the Democrat had the foibles of the everyman.
The difference is Leno and Carson would actually make jokes, not simply monologues about how much they hated Republicans. But they created the template by which people saw the candidates, meaning that Dan Quayle’s criticism of how UNREALISTIC Murphy Brown was ended up being offered as proof that Quayle was so stupid that he though Murphy Brown was a real person.
The result is that the modern late-night people are recognized as bitter, nasty, hate-filled monsters who preached only to the choir, but people actually BELIEVED the lies of Carson and Leno.
I can remember when late night TV mainly stayed out of politics and concentrated on entertainment and was funny, we got to know many entertainers as if they were personal friends. But considering the what entertainers are in to today it wouldn’t be funny.

It’s not just that they constantly bash Trump. Guys like Colbert and Kimmel literally hate Trump and MAGA and LOVE democrats and big govt... It’s personal to them, it’s also why they could never reform themselves.

I once heard Lorne Michaels say as long as he had his say SNL would always be on the air......that show stinks on ice is about as woke as they come and yet it’s still on the air.
That’s the basic difference between liberals and conservatives......for conservatives politics is PART of our lives.....for liberals politics IS their life.
And then there’s faith and belief in God.......one side ain’t really gettin’ it.
They still doing late night? I have not watched anything since Greg Ferguson ended his show.
