Rep. Ken Calvert (R-Calif.) is projected to win reelection in his Southern California House seat, according to Decision Desk HQ. Calvert faced a challenge from Democrat Will Rollins, a former federal prosecutor, for California’s 41st Congressional District situated between Los Angeles and San Diego. The district narrowly went for Donald Trump by a point in 2020. The two previously ran against each other in 2022, with Calvert defeating Rollins by close to 5 points last cycle. Calvert is the longest serving House Republican in California, having entered Congress in 1993.

Donald Trump has been president before. But all indications are that we should expect an even bolder Trump — or more extreme, depending on your point of view — in a second term. Gone will be the many establishment-oriented administration officials who served as checks on him and have since criticized him. Republicans will most likely control both chambers of Congress, with GOP contingents more Trump-y than before. The Supreme Court recently gave presidents a substantial degree of criminal immunity, which will insulate a president who has been convicted of felonies and charged with others. And Trump as a term-limited...

~The FReeper Canteen Presents~National Happy Hour Day!If you’re sitting at your favorite watering hole with a group of buddies chowing down on free or reduced price buffalo wings, chips and salsa, fries and maybe some coconut shrimp with cocktails or beer between 5-7pm on November 12, then you’re right on time for National Happy Hour Day! Surprisingly, something that most of us associate with fun after work in mostly urban settings, actually got its start with the U.S. Navy as far back as 1914. (However, in 1900 “Happy Hour” social clubs did exist.) Happy Hours, as we know them...
  • Trump Taps US Senator Marco Rubio for Secretary of State

Donald Trump selected U.S. Senator Marco Rubio to be his secretary of state, the New York Times reported on Monday, putting the Florida-born politician on track to be the first Latino to serve as America's top diplomat once the Republican president-elect takes office in January. Rubio was arguably the most hawkish option on Trump's shortlist for secretary of state, and he has in years past advocated for a muscular foreign policy with respect to America's geopolitical foes, including China, Iran and Cuba. Over the last several years he has softened some of his stances to align more closely with Trump's...

I may or may not be guilty of taking a trip to my nearest Trader Joe’s at least once every week. It’s like going on a treasure hunt, except the treasure in question is a variety of delectable baked goods, crave-worthy snacks, and deliciously unexpected cheeses. Sure, it may be at least a 30-minute drive, but what’s a little distance when a pint of Salted Maple Ice Cream is involved?

The anti-Trump demonstrations we now see in the streets are not just examples of the immaturity of many modern secular liberals, who seem to think that everyone else is somehow obligated to agree with them. They’re also a symptom of the distorted influence politics now exercises over our culture. But in addition to being a symptom of our culture, the dominance of politics in every aspect of life is also a consequence of liberalism itself. The tendency of liberalism has always been to politicize everything. Thanks to liberalism, we have a politicized media that has abandoned journalistic standards in a misguided attempt...

Some foods are sirens of sodium—you know as soon as you see them that they're loaded with salt. Pickles, salted nuts, bacon, and fried foods all stand out as obvious sodium bombshells. With other foods, though, sodium content isn't so immediately clear. Unless you're a diligent label reader, you might not realize that multiple common grocery items are sneakily high in this nutrient.

The president-elect appears to have settled on the Florida senator to be the nation’s top diplomat. President-elect Donald J. Trump is expected to name Senator Marco Rubio of Florida as his secretary of state, three people familiar with his thinking said on Monday, as Mr. Trump moves rapidly to fill out his foreign policy and national security team. Mr. Trump could still change his mind at the last minute, the people said, but appeared to have settled on Mr. Rubio, whom he also considered when choosing his running mate this year. Mr. Rubio was elected to the Senate in 2010,...

Confidential documents have revealed that Turkey’s intelligence agency (Milli İstihbarat Teşkilatı, MIT) has for some time been aware of the activities of a senior Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) leader operating within Turkey and managing the group’s smuggling network in Greece. An intelligence note shared by MIT with the Security Directorate General (Emniyet) on May 13, 2023 and obtained by Nordic Monitor showed that Barzan Hasan Ibrahim Albo-Badri, a cousin of the late ISIS leader and caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, relocated from Iraq to Turkey to assist in directing the terrorist organization’s operations within and through Turkey. The...

Former NFL head coach Jack Del Rio will resign from his role on the Wisconsin football staff after being arrested early Friday on citations for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Del Rio, who joined the Badgers as a senior advisor in August, allegedly struck a street sign with his vehicle, broke a fence and came to a rest in a yard, according to an incident report from the Madison (Wis.) Police Department. Multiple reports stated officers were directed to the 61-year-old Del Rio by witnesses, which noted the ex-Raiders coach walked away from the area and “showed signs of impairment.”

President-elect Donald Trump selected Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) to serve as his National Security Adviser, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. A source familiar to Breitbart News confirmed the WSJ’s report that Trump had asked Waltz to serve as the National Security Adviser. The role, which is appointed by the president, “doesn’t require Senate confirmation,” the WSJ’s report explained. Waltz, who is a retired Green Beret colonel and Afghanistan War veteran, has represented Florida’s 6th Congressional District since 2019.

While environmental officials back the plan as a step toward a cleaner environment, opponents argue it’ll hit Californians in the wallet.

Kid Rock has offered an olive branch to Kamala Harris voters, telling fellow supporters of newly re-elected President Donald Trump that "now is not the time to gloat." Republican nominee Trump handily defeated the Democratic candidate Harris in Tuesday's presidential election, making him just the second person ever to be elected to the country's highest office for non-consecutive terms. You can see Rock's video below. A longtime supporter of Trump, Rock posted a video Friday that begins with him in on-stage mode, complete with a "Kid Rock election reaction" caption. Wearing a flame-adorned track suit, Rock prepares to speak then...

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ordered the recall of nearly 80,000 pounds of butter produced in Texas for Costco. The agency ordered the recall because the product packaging contained no “Contains Milk” allergy statement. Food & Wine reported that the FDA issued a Class II recall on November 7 for 79,200 pounds of Kirkland Signature Sweet Cream Butter (salted and unsalted). The FDA claimed the butter packaging lists “cream” as an ingredient but does not bear the “Contains Milk” allergy statement. The New York Post posted on social media that the recall was based on the “dumbest possible...
