The word ‘compassion’ means sympathy, pity, an inner moving or yearning that moves one into doing something about a situation. Unfortunately, sometimes compassion fails to be the undergirding reason why people move toward the mountains of human need. Ultrafast computer processing speeds are possible with optical chirality logic gates that operate about a million times faster than existing technologies. Processing devices based on polarized light run one million times faster than current technology. Logic gates are the basic building blocks of computer processors. Conventional logic gates are electronic, working by shuffling around electrons. However, researchers have been developing light-based optical logic gates to meet the data processing and transfer demands of next-generation computing. Aalto University scientists developed new optical chirality logic gates that operate about a million times faster than existing technologies, offering ultrafast processing speeds. Optical Chirality...

It was largely funded by the Open Philanthropy Project, which is closely aligned with the Clinton Foundation. According to the official website for this preparatory practice run: Event 201 was a 2.5-hour pandemic tabletop exercise that simulated a series of dramatic, scenario-based facilitated discussions,...

Dan Lauria will play former Speaker of the House Thomas “Tip” O’Neill in the upcoming biopic Reagan. He’ll play opposite Dennis Quaid, who plays the 40th president. In a statement, director Sean McNamara said, “He and Dennis have the chemistry needed to portray Reagan and O’Neill as two politicians who were respectful adversaries.” In Washington, the 1980s friendship between Reagan and O’Neill has long been viewed as a contrast to recent decades, as partisan rifts have gotten more personal.

An enormous 100-foot-wide sinkhole nicknamed the “Gate to Hell” has opened up near a popular Russian ski resort, prompting a handful of evacuations and a pause in operations until further notice. The sinkhole collapsed at a nearby mine in Siberia’s Kemerovo region that is owned by a British company linked to billionaire Roman Abramovich. Aerial footage of the collapse shows the sinkhole formed near the side of a road, with at least one house teetering toward the crater. Residents of four nearby houses were evacuated over the past few days due to warnings about the collapse, and no casualties have...

FEAST OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE Luke 1:26–38Friends, today we celebrate the great feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. What followed the apparition of Mary at Tepeyac is one of the most astounding chapters in the history of Christian evangelism.Though Franciscan missionaries had been laboring in Mexico for twenty years, they had made little progress. But within ten years of the appearance of Our Lady of Guadalupe, practically the entire Mexican people, nine million strong, had converted to Christianity. La Morena had proved a more effective evangelist than Peter, Paul, St. Patrick, and St. Francis Xavier combined! And with that...

Those who opposed the release of Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout, notoriously dubbed “the Merchant of Death,” in exchange for former WNBA star Brittney Griner are largely driven by racism and homophobia, according to Democrat consultant and political commentator James Carville. Carville also claimed opposition to the swap “exposed a big big fault in American culture,” and said those opposed are likely “pro-Putin.” Speaking on CNN Newsroom with Jim Acosta on Saturday, Carville complained that racism and homophobia are significant drivers of opinion in America, suggesting that if Griner was a “blond Chi Omega from SMU” then the reaction would...

The fifth installment in the bombshell “Twitter Files” revealed Monday that staffers inside the social media giant pushed for former President Donald Trump to be barred from the social media platform, ostensibly for good.
