Ana Navarro told her co-hosts Friday on ABC’s “The View” that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) flying migrants to Martha’s Vineyard was “not Christian.” Navarro said, “First, I think DeSantis is going to run whether Trump runs or not.” She continued, “This is something that strikes me very personally. First of all, I’m a Floridian … So that’s my taxpayer money that’s being used as a political stunt. To schlep immigrants who are fleeing a communist regime like I did from Nicaragua.” Navarro added, “These Nicaraguans and these Venezuelans, they are trekking through the jungles of Panama to get here. Republicans...

Dr. Hill told BuzzFeed that birth control pills can affect so much more than our ability to become pregnant: "The birth control pill changes women’s sex hormones, which means that its effects go far beyond contraception. There are hormone receptors on virtually all cells in the body – including all major structures in the brain. Because of this, hormonal birth control can have an impact on nearly every aspect of who a woman is." To date, research finds that hormonal birth control can influence all kinds of things, such as "a woman’s mate preferences" and even "her relationship satisfaction." She...

The special master overseeing the Mar-a-Lago documents investigation has ordered former President Donald Trump's lawyers to back up out-of-court assertions that the FBI may have planted evidence at the property during their search last month. Judge Raymond Dearie, the court-appointed special master, said in a filing Thursday that Trump's team needs to submit a sworn declaration saying if they believe the Justice Department included any items on their "inventory" of materials taken from Mar-a-Lago that were not actually seized during the search. The declaration must include "a list of any specific items set forth in the Detailed Property Inventory that...

Another major corporation could soon be leaving Chicago due to escalating crime: the McDonald’s fast-food chain. McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski says his company’s employees feel unsafe and no longer want to come to work. This includes corporate employees at the main offices of McDonald’s, which are located in the heart of the Windy City. As we recently reported, Caterpillar has already fled Chicago for Texas. Boeing did the same thing. Already in 2022, there have been more than 494 homicides in Chicago. This is about 100 more deaths than what occurred during the first eight months of 2019. Burglaries are...

The BP-Husky Toledo refinery in Oregon, Ohio, has been “safely shut down” after a fire reportedly broke out for no apparent reason. A BP spokesperson told Reuters that the company suspects “leaking fumes from a crude unit may have caused the ignition in another unit at the facility.” This same person added that workers at the facility had just “finished a maintenance turnaround” a few weeks prior after having been offline for some time. (Related: Remember back in the summer when several Texas oil refineries shut down under similarly suspicious circumstances?) According to reports, the BP-Husky Toledo refinery processes up...

Wyoming and 17 other states on Tuesday told major credit card companies to prepare for legal challenges if they adopt a unique purchase code for gun sales. Bridget Hill and 17 other Republican attorneys general sent a letter Tuesday to the companies urging them not to implement the code. The letter is addressed to the CEOs of American Express, Mastercard and Visa, and it questions the legality of the new code and its possible uses, such as tracking gun sales or keeping a list of gun owners. “Be advised that we will marshal the full scope of our lawful authority...

In a seven-minute nationally televised address, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the West that a nuclear war is “definitely coming,” adding that he isn’t bluffing over using everything at his disposal to protect Russia. This was taken as an apparent reference to Russia’s nuclear arsenal. Putin also previously told the West not to push Russia against the wall and rebuked NATO countries for supplying weapons to Ukraine. “The purpose of the West is to weaken, divide and ultimately destroy our country. They are already directly saying that in 1991 they were able to split the Soviet Union, and now the...

A former teacher running for a seat on the Forest Lake School Board once unequivocally stated that parents should have no say in what their children are taught. Back in February, prior to running for school board, Ashley Bulmer posted a 26-second video to TikTok declaring that “teachers should be allowed to teach” without parental input in how they construct their lesson plans. “I’m a parent, and I’m sorry to all you parents out there, but you do not get a say in your child’s teacher’s lesson plans,” she said. “I spent thousands of dollars on a degree and my...

I’ve been meaning to do a post about the self-destruction of the STEM fields (actually many, many posts), but I haven’t gotten around to it because there is just so darn much other idiocy to write about. As Ferris Bueller says, “life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and look around for a minute you could miss it.” I didn’t miss this tidbit, via the invaluable College Fix. ‘We advocate for speech that empowers the next generation of scientists to create a more just and equitable ─ and hence more excellent ─ scientific community’ Ten scientists holding faculty positions...

MEMORIAL OF SAINT PIUS OF PIETRELCINA, PRIEST LUKE 9:18–22 Friends, the Gospel for today is incomparably rich and mysterious. First, we notice that peculiar question, “Who do the crowds say that I am?” No other religious figure or founder would ask such a question. This is the primordial and peculiar question of the Christian faith. It has to do with Jesus and who he is. The first group that “responds” is the general public: “John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.” A range of opinions—and all of them wrong. Then that devastating question:...

Utilities are paying more for natural gas, which means many Colorado customers will see higher bills starting Oct. 1. The Colorado Public Utilities Commission approved fuel rate adjustments Wednesday for Xcel Energy-Colorado and Atmos Energy Corp. Regulations allow the utilities to pass through higher fuel costs to customers. Although Xcel Energy customers will see monthly increases in the single digits, they could end up paying nearly 54% more in December than they did in December 2021, according to a notice sent by the company. The PUC’s action on the companies’ fuel-cost adjustment is separate from pending decisions on proposed increases...

One of the topics I write about fairly consistently is ethnicity (in the true sense of the term), ethnogenesis, and the impact these have on Western societies. Especially in the American case, ethnogenesis has been an ongoing process that has helped to differentiate Americans from their European forebearers. Indeed, as I’ve pointed out elsewhere, ethnogenesis has actually created two White ethnies occupying the territory of the United States, ethnies which are mutually and increasingly antagonistic. In this post, I’d like to go beyond merely reiterating the existence of that ethnogenesis and discuss some of the consequences of it. One of...

A federal jury has found Project Veritas, a conservative group often accused of using deceptive tactics, liable for violating wiretapping laws and misrepresenting itself in an undercover effort to target Democratic political consultants.Jurors in Washington on Thursday awarded $120,000 to a member of Democracy Partners, co-founded by self-described progressive strategist Robert Creamer.Democracy Partners claimed it had been infiltrated by a Project Veritas operative who lied about her name and background to obtain an internship during the 2016 presidential campaign, and secretly recorded conversations while working there. The firm and Creamer said Project Veritas used "heavily edited" footage in videos that...

Factories, businesses, and families across Europe are battling for survival as Russia’s chokehold on the continent’s natural gas supply sends prices to astronomical heights, unleashing a brutal economic storm that has tested European solidarity about Russia’s war in Ukraine and fueled fears of an impending recession. Crushingly high energy prices have soared to 10 times their average level throughout the past decade, leading to spikes that have throttled industries and left households scrambling to pay their bills. From the energy-intensive aluminum industry to fertilizer manufacturers, companies across Europe have been forced to slash production or even go bankrupt in the...
