Disney has reportedly given the boot to its chairman of general entertainment content, Peter Rice. Disney confirmed Rice's departure in a news release on Thursday, adding that he would be replaced by Walt Disney Television Chairman Dana Walden. Sources told The New York Times that Rice was "an ill fit with Disney's corporate culture." Variety reported that Rice's firing was "entirely business and strategy-related" and had nothing to do with any personal behavior by Rice. Variety's sources said that Rice was completely blindsided by the decision. As chairman, Rice was tasked with overseeing Disney's original entertainment and news programming for...

As the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6 Attack prepares to stage a show trial of Donald Trump on Capitol Hill this week, I have filed a lawsuit challenging the Select Committee’s gross violations of the Constitution’s separation of powers. Yes, congressional committees do have the power to investigate. Yet, they can only do so in pursuit of a “legislative function,” e.g., to enact new rules, regulations, or policies. What settled law explicitly rules out is the pursuit of a “judicial function” in which a congressional committee seeks to act as judge, jury, and executioner. That clearly violates the...

If you want to adopt a dog or cat from this Southern California animal shelter, you have to be 25, prove you can provide a pet with a good home — and support gun restrictions. Membership in the NRA is a deal breaker, said Shelter Hope Pet Shop owner Kim Sill. “We do not support those who believe that the 2nd amendment gives them the right to buy assault weapons,” Sill wrote on a website for the shelter in Thousand Oaks, California, about 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles. “If your beliefs are not in line with ours, we will...

Senator Cornyn, I have voted for you every time you have faced election since coming to Texas 21 years ago. However, now you are negotiating away my rights and those of my family and fellow citizens. The very idea (let alone the practical application) of a "Red Flag" law is in violation of the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th Amendments - and giving tax dollars to the states to do that dirty deed would be just as gross of a violation of those rights by operation of the 14th Amendment. Senator Cornyn, you KNOW this - you were on...

Paul Pelosi, 82, was arrested for a DUI on May 29 by California Highway Patrol A court date has been set for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband following a recent DUI arrest, though no decision has been made on whether he will face criminal charges. Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley announced Thursday that Paul Pelosi agreed to a court date of Aug. 3 at 8:30 a.m. in Napa County Superior Court. A survey of nearly 4,000 K-12 teachers in Texas found that most do not want to be armed while in class or be expected to intercept a gunman at school, according to the state’s teachers union, which released its survey results Wednesday. The Texas American Federation of Teachers sent an online questionnaire to its 65,000 members, which include public school teachers, support personnel and higher education employees, a week after an 18-year-old gunman killed 21 people — including 19 children — at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. Soon after the shooting, Texas Republicans said the solution could be arming teachers....

WASHINGTON—President Biden warned there was little the administration can do in the short term to lower high energy and food prices as the White House struggles to contain the fallout of sky-high inflation. Soaring prices have become a major liability for the president and Democratic Party as they seek to bolster their standing with voters ahead of November’s midterm elections. “There’s a lot going on right now, but the idea we’re going to be able to, you know, click a switch, bring down the cost of gasoline, is not likely in the near term, nor is it with regard to...

1. The Constitution of the United States of America. "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. That language seems pretty simple to comprehend. I'm not the Lincoln lawyer but shall not be infringed seems pretty airtight. 2. Angry, vicious, thugs have guns, will travel, fear nothing and like killing. Police eventually realize that they are putting their lives at risk on a daily basis for ungrateful citizens. Police swore an oath to protect communities and citizens show their appreciation by...

Hunter Biden’s daughter Naomi went after Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) Thursday for suggesting her dad broke gun laws. Hours later on June 7, Hunter’s daughter Naomi responded to Delaney’s tweet by tweeting, “[Sen. Johnson], if you vote for stricter gun control measures, I will personally come into your office and call my dad on speakerphone so that you can confess your undying love for him directly.

Wyoming Republican House candidate Harriet Hageman is the “overwhelming favorite” to oust establishment Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), Fabrizio, Lee & Associates polling revealed this week. Hageman leads Cheney among primary voters by 28 points. Hageman received 56 percent. Cheney only received 28 percent. Hageman’s lead has only increased over time. In December, Hageman had only an 8-point lead over Cheney. Conversely, Cheney’s favorability rating has dropped from -40 percent to -47 percent. Seventy-three percent of respondents view Cheney unfavorably. Sixty-six percent view her “very unfavorably.” The poll also asked respondents whom they would vote for in the August 16 primary....

Nicolle Wallace is a disgrace. I went through the transcript of her MSNBC show yesterday multiple times. Surely, there must be something there! It beggars the imagination that a TV show devoted to political news could have failed to cover a story that broke earlier that same day--the arrest of an armed man outside the house of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and who admitted that his plan was to assassinate him. But yes, as incredible as it seems, Nicolle Wallace failed to devote any time--not one second--to that story during her two hours of MSNBC airtime on yesterday's Deadline:...

Abstract After the Columbine school shooting 20 years ago, one of the more significant changes in how we protect students has been the advance of legislation that allows teachers to carry guns at schools. There are two obvious questions: Does letting teachers carry create dangers? Might they deter attackers? Twenty states currently allow teachers and staff to carry guns to varying degrees on school property, so we don’t need to guess how the policy would work. There has yet to be a single case of someone being wounded or killed from a shooting, let alone a mass public shooting, between...

A man repeatedly slugged a straphanger in an unprovoked attack before robbing him inside a Bronx subway station, cops said Thursday. The 49-year-old victim was sitting on a bench on the southbound No. 1 platform of the Marble Hill-225th Street station around 6 a.m. Sunday when the assailant approached and suddenly punched him in the face multiple times, police said. The mugger then snatched the victim’s iPhone 13 from his hand, authorities said. The phone, worth about $1,000, also held the victim’s credit card on the back of the case, cops said. *** Cops say he has a dark complexion,...

Democrats passed laws called "Black Codes," which included taking guns away from Blacks. Download as PDF The Democrat Legislature of North Carolina passed a Black Code, published in 1825: "No slave shall go armed with gun, sword, club, or other weapon, or shall keep any such weapon, or shall hunt or range with a gun in the woods, upon any pretence whatsoever: and if any slave shall be found offending herein, it shall and may be lawful for any person or persons to seize and take to his own use, such gun, sword, or other weapon, and to apprehend...

I’ve been promising to collect our own lexicon of the real meaning of key leftist terms—an undated version of Ambrose Bierce’s Devil’s Dictionary, for a while now. So here goes. Readers are encouraged to propose additional definitions and terms in the comment thread, and we’ll update this lexicon from time to time. Populism: When the wrong person or cause wins a free election, like Brexit, Trump, or a Soros DA recall. Racism: Any opposition to the agenda of the left. Democracy: Any institutional design or voting system that enables the left to get what it wants. Threat to democracy: When...

Tenth Week in Ordinary Time Matthew 5:20-26 Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus teaches that if a brother has something against us, we must be reconciled with him before we offer our gift at the altar. This reconciling requires a change of heart and mind. The word often misleadingly translated as “repent” is metanoiete. This Greek term is based upon two words, meta (beyond) and nous (mind or spirit), and thus, in its most basic form, it means something like “go beyond the mind that you have.” The English word “repent” has a moralizing overtone, suggesting a change in behavior or...
