During the January 6, 2021 melee at the US Capitol, DC Metro Police Officer Lila Morris beat Rosanne Boyland to death with a steel baton and a large wooden stick at the entrance to the West Terrace tunnel. At the time, Boyland was lying unconscious on the floor. While the beating took place Justin Winchell, Boyland's traveling companion, pleaded with police to provide medical aid. Since the unconscious woman was not resisting arrest or posing a danger to anyone, the beating appeared unnecessary and cruel. The DC Metro Police conducted its own investigation of the incident and Capt. David Augustine,...

While some of the recent energy price rises have been due to international market factors, part is the direct result of government policy. I mentioned the role of carbon pricing a few months ago in pushing up the cost of electricity. Since then carbon prices have jumped even higher to £84.50 per tonne. Two years ago they were trading at below £15/tonne (via the EU scheme). This increase has been deliberately engineered by government, in order to push up the cost of fossil fuel generation so as to make expensive renewables competitive. The policy is also to track EU carbon...

WHY IT WORKS Slicing shallots to the proper thickness with a mandoline ensures that they cook at an even rate and are able to crisp properly without becoming greasy. Removing the shallots from the heat and straining them when they're lightly golden keeps them from turning too dark and bitter due to carryover cooking. Gently blotting the shallots on multiple layers of paper towels keeps them from turning soggy and oily. Along with crispy fried shallots, this recipe produces an aromatic fried-shallot oil that can be used to make things like vinaigrettes, mayonnaise, or subsequent batches of fried shallots. If...

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will inform provincial premiers of his intention to invoke special measures to give the federal government extraordinary powers to deal with protests that have shut some border crossings with the United States and paralyzed parts of Canada's capital, CBC News said on Monday. Citing unnamed sources, CBC said Trudeau planned to invoke the Emergencies Act, a rarely used provision that allows the federal government to override the provinces and authorize special temporary measures to ensure security during national emergencies anywhere in the country. It has only been used once in peacetime -...

Congress is promoting a book club meeting in honor of Angela Davis, the radical communist activist who was involved in a California terrorist attack carried out by the Black Panthers. The Middle Eastern and North African Staff Association, "a bicameral and bipartisan Congressional Staff Organization," announced that its first in-person book club meeting would be on Davis's Freedom Is a Constant Struggle, a 2015 book that argues that Palestinians and black Americans are part of a global struggle against police violence.

EXCLUSIVE: Former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe met with Special Counsel John Durham on more than one occasion and told him there was evidence in intelligence to support the indictments of "multiple people" in his investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe, sources told Fox News. Fox News first reported on Durham's latest filing, which alleged that lawyers from Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign in 2016 had paid to "infiltrate" servers belonging to Trump Tower and later the White House, in order to establish an "inference" and "narrative" to bring to federal government agencies linking Donald Trump to Russia.

In November of 2020, a freak wave came out of the blue, lifting a lonesome buoy off the coast of British Columbia 17.6 meters high (58 feet). The four-story wall of water has now been confirmed as the most extreme rogue wave ever recorded. Such an exceptional event is thought to occur only once every 1,300 years. And unless the buoy had been taken for a ride, we might never have known it even happened.

Most of you would disagree but I watched knowing the NFL was going to fill us with all the touchy-feely stuff that kissed butt of all designated victims. Dwayne Johnson-I couldn't believe it. Was his speel necessary? I guess so if you want to see him outside of a movie theater. Commercials-cant remember any-that's good. The 'messages' did not register. Half-time show? Let's just say that most Americans would not pay to see Snoop Dogg perform but the NFL is willing to force woke guilt on all of us. They know where their bread is buttered. To show that I...

Forget the game and the all-Black (Eminem identifies as Black) halftime ‘show,’ I could write a book about the Super Bowl commercials. But what’s the point? They were certainly not targeting me. The Rams and the Bengals were both coached by Millennials who have taken over from the Old Guard. The game’s ad-spots were likewise created by Millennials for Millennials.Their market research now includes new age data mining that reveals that old Boomers like me are not likely to invest in cryto-currencies - even though I did rather like Crypto platform eToro’s CGI ad. A cryto-investor murmuration over a Post-Post...

This is a tale of two Beltway cities. One - Alexandria - resides on the freedom side of the Potomac River in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The other is the District of Columbia, our nation’s capital. These famous towns have many similarities but differ on COVID-19 mitigation efforts. Both are unfortunately run by progressive politicians. Both are situated in the DMV Metro Area. But one isn’t encumbered by suffocating policies anymore. The other is. Blue Alexandria, VA in Free Virginia Has No Mandates After January 15th, Governor Glenn Youngkin’s inauguration, any outstanding mask mandate in place —vaccine or mask—was lifted...

The Liberal government allowed a Chinese state-owned company to bid on a Canadian lithium mining operation without launching a formal national security review into the purchase. As reported by the Globe and Mail, Chinese firm Zijin Mining and Canadian Neo Lithium Corp. have agreed to an acquisition and are close to completing their business deal. The deal has been in the making since October when Zijin Mining first announced that it was looking at buying the Toronto company for a price tag of $960 million.
