An education company co-founded by Attorney General Merrick Garland's son-in-law issued a "resource" for teachers this year that claims supporters of former President Donald Trump are White supremacists. The educational workshop released by Panorama Education, co-founded by Alexander "Xan" Tanner, the group’s president, revolves around "systemic racism" and includes an article as a resource that states the Ku Klux Klan and attendees of Trump's rallies are both "examples of white supremacy." The 2021 workshop in question from the group, titled "SEL as Social Justice: Dismantling White Supremacy Within Systems and Self," includes a portion of "resources" for teachers, one of...

The current brouhaha over smoking has made everyone painfully aware of tobacco's effects on the body, but it has also obscured a more profound reason for smoking’s popularity: its relation to the soul. As the heyday of smoking passes into the ashheap of history, it is meet that we reflect on this connection. The soul, of course, is a complex thing. Long ago Plato suggested that we consider it as divided into three parts—the appetitive, spirited, and rational—that correspond to the three basic kinds of human desires: the desire to satisfy physical appetites, the desire for recognition, and the desire...

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) blasted House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) after he refused to say if he believed the 2020 presidential election was "stolen" from former President Trump. Earlier on Sunday, Scalise was pressed by "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace on whether he believed the 2020 election had legitimately been won by President Biden. Scalise refused to directly answer the question, repeatedly pointing to Constitutional rules and states' laws on elections. "Millions of Americans have been sold a fraud that the election was stolen. Republicans have a duty to tell the American people that this is not true....

A racist social media post advertising a fraternity party sparked outrage at a North Carolina university and death threats against the white student supposedly behind it. Now, it appears the post was a hoax carried out by a black student from another fraternity. The message first appeared on the anonymous social media site Yik Yak and promoted a Theta Chi party with one ugly stipulation: "no blacks." According to WITN-TV, the name and number of Theta Chi member Austin Hunter were included in the post. "To be accused of something that I didn't do, that really sucks," Hunter told WITN....

A 45-year history of aborting babies ended for abortion provider Ali Azima on September 3, 2021. Azima closed his Port Charlotte, FL, abortion facility that day, Community Pregnancy Clinics (CPCI) of Naples, FL, reported in an email statement to supporters. The website for Azima’s multi-site medical practice (Southwest Florida Women’s Clinic, Inc.) states that he is retiring, noting as well that, “We have lost our lease in North Fort Myers due to the protestors,” and refers visitors to the Port Charlotte office. Local Florida pro-life groups have diligently prayed for life to prevail and have been available to women for...

87 runners faced extreme weather, including 12-18 inches of snow and almost white-out conditions Trail runners participating in an ultramarathon Saturday morning were rescued from the mountains in Davis County, Utah, after a snowstorm hit the area. The race was suspended, and the sheriff's office's search and rescue team responded on foot, with ATVs and snowmobiles to help the runners get down the mountain...

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Sunday she was confident the U.S. Congress would approve legislation to implement the global corporate minimum tax agreed by 136 countries. Yellen told ABC's "This Week" the actions to bring the United States into compliance with the global minimum tax would likely be included in the so-called reconciliation budget bill containing President Joe Biden's proposed spending initiatives. Asked whether she was confident the measure would get through, Yellen said: "Yes. I am confident that what we need to do to come into compliance with the minimum tax will be included in a reconciliation package....

Over the last two weeks, 10 teams ranked in the top 15 have lost, including seven in the top 10.The last time the No. 1 team in the country lost to an unranked team was 2008. The last time Alabama lost to an unranked team was 2007. Texas A&M snapped both those streaks and brought true chaos to this college football season. The Aggies dragged a two-game losing streak into Kyle Field on Saturday night, looking like one of the most disappointing teams in the country. Then Texas A&M beat the mighty Crimson Tide, scoring almost as many points in...

“Behold, Thou dost desire truth in the innermost being, and in the hidden part Thou wilt make me know wisdom” (Psalm 51:6). True confession involves a proper understanding of oneself. The supreme goal pursued by many in our narcissistic culture is a “healthy” self-esteem. Even Christians have jumped on the self-esteem bandwagon, misconstruing Jesus’ command to “love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt. 19:19) as a mandate for self-love. But the Bible nowhere commands us to pursue self-esteem; instead, it commands us to be holy (1 Peter 1:16). In Psalm 51, David gives three reasons why holiness is imperative in the...

Hundreds of thousands of U.S. service members remain unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated against the coronavirus as the Pentagon's first compliance deadlines near, with lopsided rates across the individual services and a spike in deaths among military reservists illustrating how political division over the shots has seeped into a nonpartisan force with unambiguous orders.Overall, the military's vaccination rate has climbed since August, when Defense Department leaders, acting on a directive from President Joe Biden, informed the nation's 2.1 million troops that immunization would become mandatory, exemptions would be rare and those who refuse would be punished. Yet troops' response has...

The Art Institute of Chicago (AIC), one of the world’s finest art museums, harbors (or rather, harbored) 122 highly skilled docents, 82 active ones and 40 “school group greeters.” All are volunteers and are all unpaid. Their job is to act as guides to the Museum’s collection of 300,000 works, which they explain to both adults and schoolchildren. I’ve seen them in action at the Museum, and they’re terrific. Despite the lack of remuneration—they do this to be helpful and because they love art—their training to be docents is extremely rigorous. First, they have to have two training sessions per...

Joe Biden checked in. So did Stacey Abrams. And James Carville reached out — over 40 times in the last three months. As the Virginia gubernatorial race careens toward the finish line, with just over three weeks to go, fundraising emails from former Gov. Terry McAuliffe and other Democrats are sounding the alarm. The McAuliffe campaign has tapped the aforementioned big names to sign emails: Biden urged supporters to chip in because “folks, the Virginia Governor’s race is a big deal not just for the Commonwealth but for our country.” Abrams’ email let everyone know, “All eyes are on Virginia.”...

NPF says it will still support a member's right to refuse vaccination The RCMP's union says that while it supports a Mountie's right to refuse vaccination, it also wants officers to be aware of the consequences of that choice. The National Police Federation issued a new statement today in response to the Liberal government's announcement earlier this week that most public servants--including RCMO officers--must be vaccinated against COVID-19 by the end of the month or face being put on unpaid leave. Last month, the NPF--which represents nearly 20,000 officers--sent a mass email to members saying the union supports a members...

Why was the thread pulled on flight cancelations? I just had a friend inform me their southwest flight ha sheen canceled and sure enough, over 1800 flights canceled today. Apparently employees walking off the job over shot mandates. A loved one is in Florida’s trying to return on a different airline and flight was delayed. Said can’t be weather because it’s beautiful.

Last week, pro-life activist Janet Morana tweeted about how the mainstream media so often amplifies abortion stories when they fit the pro-abortion narrative, while ignoring those that don’t. Morana wrote, “Dear @NBCNews @MSNBC @JoyAnnReid @nytimes @washingtonpost – read your stories about House women and #abortion but where are you every year when women of @regretabortion tell theirs?” The mainstream media’s coverage of recent House hearings on abortion legislation has emphasized tearful testimony from House members about why they support abortion. As Morana notes, what is noticeably absent is the perspective of mothers who now mourn the children they lost. Morana,...

America loves an outlaw. Some outlaws simply need to find their calling, and David Marshall Williams is such a man. A convicted murderer of a sheriff's deputy, no less, he turned his prison experience into a tale of personal redemption and revolutionized the field of semi-automatic firearms for over a century. Williams was one of a whopping 12 children born to James Claude Williams, a wealthy and highly influential landowner in Cumberland County, North Carolina. His early life is pure Americana: Expelled from school in eighth grade, he apprenticed underneath a blacksmith. Finding this life lacking in adventure, he lied...

Comparisons with Nazi era becoming a common refrain at protests against vaccine mandates and COVID rulesBelle Jarniewski leaned back from her computer, seething with anger after she finished watching a video on Reddit showing a Winnipeg restaurateur accosting public health enforcement officers. "I'm still shaking after listening to that rant. That was unbelievable," she said. The video shows Shea Ritchie, the owner of Chaise Lounge locations on Corydon Avenue and Provencher Boulevard, speaking with officers giving him tickets on Sept. 24 for allowing diners who choose not to be vaccinated to dine inside his restaurant. "If they're so dangerous, shouldn't...
