House Speaker Nancy Pelosi reportedly offered the radical House Democrats a price tag of $2.1 trillion for the reconciliation package, down from $3.5 trillion but more expensive than Sen. Joe Manchin’s (D-WV) topline of $1.5 trillion. The offered package to the House Democrats includes items such as child care, paid leave, health care, and climate change, according to Politico Playbook. The offer presents which measures may survive the trimmed but still large package and which measures may be removed. “For instance, there was no mention of things like free community college or affordable housing or even Bernie Sanders’ prized expansion...

Sen. Chuck Schumer kept the $1.5 trillion reconciliation signed deal with Sen. Joe Manchin hidden from Rep. Nancy Pelosi until this week, Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) told CNN on Friday. “She had no knowledge of that until this week,” Dingell said of the senators’ agreement that was revealed Thursday. The signed document by both men states the “topline” number for the reconciliation package would be $1.5 trillion with debate on the package beginning no later than October 1. The agreement also stipulates agreement on raising the corporate tax rate to 25 percent, the top tax rate on income to 39.6...

I heard a bit of audio on the radio - I believe it was Thursday - from the Afghanistan hearings. In the audio a legislator - the tone dictates that it was likely a Republican - asked Gen. McKenzie if there was a word for leaving enemy territory under fire. McKenzie replied that he did not know because he's never done it. The unnamed legislator closed the audio of his time by stating, to the effect, "I think you just did."

Projects, relationships, and jobs don’t always work out as planned — and it’s not always clear when to throw in the towel. We’ve all repeatedly heard the adage that “quitters never win,” but sometimes the best decision is to cut our losses. Think about that relationship you held on to even after it had run its course or the job you stayed in despite your boss making you miserable. Many of us try to hold onto the last ray of hope, thinking we can make it work, whatever “it” is. If you strongly identify as not being a quitter, your...

Rapid Aging of HIV Immune System Reported in 2011 and Earlier by Rita Effros & UCLA Researchers. But this was essentially not followed up on. Rita Effros, long-time immunologist at UCLA, and others predicted we would have this aging problem but these findings & predictions got little attention except by a few immunology & HIV researchers like Alan Landay, Joe Margolick, Keri Althoff & Seems Desai who did research & discussed these issues. It was much earlier that Rita Effros first reported (1996; https://journals.lww.com/aidsonline/Citation/1996/07000/ Shortened_telomeres_in_the_expanded_CD28_CD8__cell.1.aspx) these problems than these 2011 publications. But overall these problems & predictions were ignored. now...

Newport School Board member John Mallonee has resigned his position, citing personal time and raging about COVID protocols during the board’s Sept. 14 meeting. Mallonee served four years on the board. In his resignation letter, Mallonee stated, “in light of never-ending COVID-19 mandates, along with being unwilling to compromise my personal beliefs and not wanting to violate my conscience, and also due to the fact the Pennsylvania Department of Education has completely disregarded the autonomy of the Newport School District Board of Directors and undermined the ability of the board to govern on the will of the community, I am...

Does anyone even remember when the FBI was one of the good guys?Whitmer Case Exposes Pattern of FBI Misconduct – wait, what? You mean the plot to kidnap Michigan Governor Whitmer from her cottage and leaving her adrift in the middle of Lake Michigan wasn’t masterminded by a bunch of backwoods hicks from Michigan? It was actually the brainchild of the FBI Brainiacs? As the first shoe related to the FBI’s involvement in the breach of the U.S. Capitol dropped—the New York Times last week reported at least two informants tied to the Proud Boys were working with the FBI...

How about the creation of a Student - Parent union as a counter to teachers' unions? This could be a stronger political movement, heavier funded, and a much bigger offensive against teachers' unions, because there are many more parents and students than there are teachers. The political potential is boundless. I suspect many donors could be found to support the political aspirations of such an organization, not to mention the potential small donations of the millions of parents. These should be sufficient to get the interest of politicians.

A United States Marine corporal who served in Afghanistan during Operation Freedom Sentinel and Operation Southern Vigilance is facing dishonorable discharge for refusing to take the COVID-19 shots as required by the secretary of defense. Having been diagnosed with two heart conditions, arrhythmia and right bundle branch blockage, taking an experimental drug with unknown long-term side effects isn't a medical option for him, he says, especially since the shots have already been proven to cause blood clots and heart inflammation. However, he was informed that the only medical waiver he could receive was if he was diagnosed with congenital heart...
