Many are speculating that Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser delayed her citywide mask mandate so as to not interfere with her birthday party or a Dave Chappelle show she attended. Let’s end the speculation right now. Yes, the Mayor of Washington DC made the decision to reinstate indoor face masking protocols on Saturday instead of earlier based solely on her social calendar. Of this I am 99% certain. Nothing else makes sense. The CDC guidelines were dropped at the beginning of the week. Initiating the mask mandate before the busy weekend would have made sense in light of the Delta...

As the CDC urges Americans to mask up against the Delta variant, Sweden’s chief epidemiologist has argued that more data is needed about the strain’s infectiousness. His mask-free nation is hovering at zero Covid deaths per day. Anders Tegnell said on Friday that there was “a lot we do not know” about Delta and cautioned against drawing “far-reaching conclusions” about the coronavirus strain. He noted that the variant had been circulating in Sweden “for quite some time” with little effect, particularly in high-risk settings such as nursing homes. His comments were made in response to newly released data from the...

Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele called Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan a "son of a b****" for his recent remarks that he wasn't certain whether he spoke to former President Donald Trump on Jan. 6. Steele , a frequent critic of Trump , expressed disbelief that Jordan would be uncertain of the details of his conversation with Trump surrounding Jan. 6. "I can tell you the time, the place, the date of every conversation I've had with every president of this country, period," Steele said during a Thursday livestream for the Lincoln Project. "Going back to Bill Clinton, I...

Since supporters of then-President Donald Trump swarmed the US Capitol on January 6 — forcing Congress to go into lockdown and damaging the halls of government — 599 people have been arrested and charged with crimes. The FBI is seeking the public's help to identify people who took part in one of the most documented crimes in US history. But since many rioters were allowed to walk free on January 6, it's taking some time to track them down. This table includes the names, charges, and links to court documents of all the people charged so far. We're keeping it...

VIDEOFBI Christopher Wray seemed to know nothing, NOTHING about quite a bit of what happened on January 6 during his testimony to the U.S. Senate last March. If you want to see Wray go into Sergeant Schultz overdrive mode, then just call him back to answer questions about what the FBI knew in advance about January 6 and whether it had FBI undercover agents or informants at the Capitol that day.

Welcome to our Bible study, especially if you are joining for the first time. Today we explore the word “shepherd,” how it was used, and what it symbolized. I was inspired to write about this topic after hearing the magnificent hymn “Shepherd Me, O God.” This version is sung by its composer, Marty Haugen. Let’s begin with the secular definition of shepherd from Merriam-Webster: “A person who tends sheep.” “A pastor” and the transitive verb “to guide or guard in the manner of a shepherd.” Bible definitions from a variety of sources include “someone who watches over, looks after, or...

WASHINGTON, Wednesday, July 31. PASSAGE OF OUR TROOPS THROUGH MEXICO. The Mexican Congress has granted to the United States Government the right of disembarking troops at Guaymas and marching them through Sonora to Arizona. THE POSTAL TREATY WITH MEXICO. The Postal treaty or convention with Mexico, the consummation of which, between the authorities here, you have been advised, has yet to be ratified by the American and the Mexican Congresses. It will, therefore, be some time before this treaty goes into operation. It is understood that this arrangement provides simply for the interchange of postal facilities between the two countries...

At least 27 percent of Americans are estranged from a member of their own family, and research suggests about 40 percent of Americans have experienced estrangement at some point. The most common form of estrangement is between adult children and one or both parents — a cut usually initiated by the child...children in these cases often cite harsh parenting, parental favoritism, divorce and poor and increasingly hostile communication often culminating in a volcanic event... The parents in these cases are often completely bewildered by the accusations. They often remember a totally different childhood home and accuse their children of rewriting...

U.S. Representative Cori Bush, who was evicted three times and lived in her car with her two children before her career in politics, spent a sleepless night on the U.S. Capitol steps to protest the end on Saturday of a pandemic freeze on evictions. Bush, a progressive Democrat who won her Missouri seat last year, managed about an hour of sleep sitting upright on a camp chair. Three other progressive lawmakers – Representatives Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez – showed up to support her. “We slept at the Capitol last night to ask them to come back and...

Guinness World Records confirmed that Samantha Ramsdell, from Connecticut, is the record holder for the world's largest mouth gape for a female. Her mouth gape measures 6.56 centimeters, or about two and a half inches. When measured across, it reaches more than 10 centimeters, or four inches. Ramsdell said she has always known she has a big mouth, but it wasn't until the "children of TikTok" pointed out she may have a record-sized mouth that she was encouraged to go for the record.

Happy Saturday, Two updates for you: US Capitol Rally: #JusticeforJ6 Yesterday I went on Steve Bannon's show to discuss the Wisconsin Report I sent you earlier this week. But I also made some news and announced our next rally: #JusticeforJ6 on September 18 at noon. And what's special about this rally is where it will take place, right back where it all started, at the US Capitol. You can see the clip from Bannon here: https://youtu.be/JJHNuvRwOus. We will personally attest to the injustice against the nonviolent protesters being held as political prisoners, the government's duplicity in concealing evidence, and the...

Eighteen months into the pandemic and it’s come to this:Two Sumatran tigers at an Indonesian zoo were recovering from COVID-19 after they tested positive in mid-July, the Jakarta government said in a statement on Sunday, adding that authorities were trying to find out how they were infected. The tigers had undergone around 10 to 12 days of treatment and were gradually showing signs of recovery, Jakarta's Head of the Parks and City Forest Office, Suzi Marsitawati, said…authorities are doing tracking and tracing to figure out how the tigers were infected. She added that none of the caretakers and workers had tested positive...

The CDC now urges public indoor masking after a worrisome study on the Delta variant — undermining the vaccine effort. We finally know what drove the CDC to revise its guidance days ago without explanation to recommend that fully vaccinated individuals wear masks in public indoor settings in areas of the country with high or substantial COVID-19 transmission. The Washington Post released a July 29 CDC slide presentation, and the CDC confirmed that one of the unpublished studies cited was pivotal in its decision. The slides largely just confirm what was already known: The Delta variant is more contagious than...

Until 2017, Oct. 1 was just another day of the year. Tragically, however, it is now synonymous with the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history — and it happened in our community. While high-profile mass shootings get most of the media attention when it comes to gun violence, they actually make up a relatively small percentage of gun deaths. I don’t say this to suggest that mass shootings aren’t a tremendous and tragic problem, because they are. However, I think it is important to recognize that the scope of the gun violence crisis is so large that the number...

How bad are things for Joe Biden? So bad that even The New York Times is getting restless. “Democrats scramble to save the federal eviction freeze as frustration with Biden mounts,” declared a Friday headline. The article said Biden waited until Thursday to ask Congress to act by Saturday, when the freeze expires, a move the Times said “took Democratic leadership by surprise.” Here’s a question for the Gray Lady and Dems: What took you so long? It’s difficult to find many Americans who aren’t frustrated with Biden. A solid majority, 55 percent, told pollsters from ABC News they are...

“‘For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also’” (Matthew 6:21). In wealthy countries, where the focus is on material things, believers must strive for the right perspective on possessions. Today’s text answers the simple but age-old question, Where is your heart? When our Lord answers the question, it is clear He is referring to all of life’s major preoccupations and investments—anything that receives most of our thinking, planning, and expenditure of energy. The religious leaders of Jesus’ day had their hearts in the wrong places. Among their many other sins, the Pharisees were thing-oriented—covetous, greedy, avaricious, and...
