Until 2017, Oct. 1 was just another day of the year. Tragically, however, it is now synonymous with the deadliest mass shooting in modern American history — and it happened in our community.
While high-profile mass shootings get most of the media attention when it comes to gun violence, they actually make up a relatively small percentage of gun deaths. I don’t say this to suggest that mass shootings aren’t a tremendous and tragic problem, because they are. However, I think it is important to recognize that the scope of the gun violence crisis is so large that the number of casualties resulting from mass shootings is dwarfed by the thousands of Americans who lose their lives to firearm suicide, community and domestic violence, and unintentional shootings each year.
As the Clark County district attorney and a member of Prosecutors Against Gun Violence, I am deeply committed to improving the safety of my community, my state and my country, and one of my top priorities is to end the gun violence epidemic. There are many steps that we need to take to do this, but one of the easiest and most immediate is confirming a director to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
This may not even be on the radar of many of those in our community, but this is an important position and it is critical that the right person be selected to lead the ATF. The president’s nominee, David Chipman, worked at ATF for 25 years. During that time, he served on the ATF’s version of SWAT and investigated the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995. David has also investigated major firearms trafficking cases, including a crime ring that was transporting guns to New York from Virginia in exchange for drugs.

When we hear “mass shooting,” we think of incidents like Las Vegas or Columbine. In fact the majority of these are committed by blacks against other blacks — someone goes ape after being refused entry to a house party, a rival gang shoots up a memorial service or funeral, etc. We’re going to lose our Second Amendment rights because of black misbehavior.
Chipman had the worst confirmation hearing performance I have ever seen. He revealed himself to be a political hack with little knowledge of the area that would be his jurisdiction, despite years of experience in the field. He appears to be an empty suit. If the GOP can’t take down this idiot, they are completely worthless. They might be completely worthless.
If this sorry ********* is confirmed, we MUST have a civil war.

Chipman should have already been rejected by now and furthermore the ATF should be defunded.
The longer it takes to stop his confirmation, the less time the Biden administration has to war against us.

I would have gladly given my eyeteeth if one of the congresscritters simply spoken the truth, “Mr. Chipman is as unqualified for this job as a person can possibly be. Next!”

I disagree in part. Yes, there’s a problem of gang violence in the minority community due to…wait for it…The Government. (LBJ’s Welfare state, he predicted this)
However, the real problem is us. Collectively our grandparents, parents and if your like me over 60 our generation too is the reason we find ourselves going down the wrong fork in the road.
Because we have wanted more for our offspring and because we mixed up affluence with providing a better life we forgot that we needed to provide more guidance than stuff to our kids. Our wives and mothers left the home to help support the family because they were led to believe motherhood was an antiquated burden they should abandon.
Once that happened it became much easier for the communists and their useful idiots to take control of the national babysitting service called the public schools system.
All the issues plaguing us now can be laid at the feet of our abdicating our responsibilities. We were collectively taken advantage of by really evil despots and their gullible supporters. We were easy prey because of our good hearts.
I do think we can turn this around. Actually we see it happening every day. The totalitarian COVID reactions are causing Americans to see firsthand the pure trash being presented as curriculum to our kids via Zoom classes and are pushing back. The teachers unions are severely overplaying their hands by trying to keep the schools closed while simultaneously asking us for more money.
Insane entitled thinking politicians, especially the dimocrats who for all of my life think they know what we need-want-deserve, have ripped off their smiley faced masks showing us their real fascists faces and once again the good hearted Americans don’t like what they see.
We can win this battle, we just have to find a way into the hearts and minds of our families and neighbors who have been brainwashed and gaslighted by the evil left their whole lives. Benito Mussolini experienced what I expect to happen to our evil dimocrat leaders in the near future, we’re good hearted Americans and we’ve had enough…

Susan Collins of Maine, one of the strongest Second Amendment states in the country, announced some time ago that she would vote “no” on this gun grabber’s nomination.
Finally, she gets something right.
Truly an example of the broken clock being right twice a day. If they can’t get Susan Collins on this one, I doubt they will get any Republican’ts.

I stopped reading at that point. It sure seems like the same people who were shrieking that Merrick Garland HAD to be confirmed to the Supreme Court are now insisting that Chipman MUST be confirmed as the head of the BATF. And for the same reason. No sale.
