It wasn't immediately clear how many people were aboard the Bombardier CL 600. The Federal Aviation Administration said the aircraft crashed at 1:18 p.m. on Monday while the pilot was attempting to land at nearby Truckee-Tahoe Airport. The owner of the aircraft and the flight plan were not immediately made public, although authorities later said it might have come from either Coeur d’Alene, Idaho or Florida. The CL 600 is a multi-seat business jet with twin engines mounted on the rear fuselage and a distinctive T-shaped tail. The jet can hold as many as 14 passengers and two crew.

SEVENTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME MATTHEW 13:36-43 Friends, in our Gospel today, Jesus explains the parable of the weeds among the wheat. God’s word creates the Church, the community of those who strive to build up the kingdom. But this Church is never absolutely pure and untrammeled, for God’s ways are opposed by a spiritual power, an enemy. His task is to sow weeds among the wheat—clandestinely, quietly, unobtrusively. This sort of coming together of good and evil is to be expected. The Church will always be a place of saints and sinners, and the sinners will often look like...

Mike Enzi, the former Wyoming senator, died Monday after sustaining serious injuries in a recent bicycle accident near his home in Gillette, Wyoming. Enzi, who was 77, "passed away peacefully" while surrounded by his family, a statement read. "His family expresses their deep appreciation for all of the prayers, support and concern. They now ask for privacy and continued prayers during this difficult time." Enzi’s family said he was admitted to UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado. He was unconscious and unable to recover from his injuries, which included a broken neck and ribs, the family said.

When a Chinese ferry joined the People’s Liberation Army Navy for an amphibious landing exercise in July 2020, observers noticed something different. It’s not unusual for Chinese merchant vessels to participate in the PLA’s operations and Bang Chui Dao, a 15,560-ton roll-on roll-off ferry, has been used before to support military transportation exercises. But where such ships might have been limited to accessing port terminals before, the ferry’s stern ramp had been converted to enable it to launch and recover a 26-ton ZTD-05, an amphibious armored vehicle used by the Chinese military, according to a brief published by The Jamestown Foundation...

It's borderline dystopian. And unfortunately, when the president says something like that, it's very hard to put the genie back in the bottle."

Texas may withdraw its investments from Ben & Jerry’s parent company Unilever, after the ice cream company decided to boycott Judea and Samaria, Texas State Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced on Thursday. Hegar said he directed his staff to determine whether Ben & Jerry’s or Unilever took any action that would trigger his state’s anti-boycott law.Texas’ pension fund amounts to over $100 million, according to Bloomberg, and Unilever is included in its portfolio. Texas Government Code Chapter 808 prohibits the government from investing its pension fund in any party that boycotts Israel. It defines “boycott Israel” as “refusing to deal with,...

Joy Behar told her co-hosts Tuesday on ABC’s “The View” that the next step to getting more Americans vaccinated against the coronavirus is “threats” that they will not be able to go to public places like theaters, restaurants, and museums. Behar said, “I just saw this morning that the CDC is now saying that even vaccinated people should be wearing masks indoor which I have been doing when I go to the supermarket, et cetera. Here is the thing about mandates, we have given them lottery tickets, we have given people incentives all over the place, football tickets, Krispy Kremes....

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) became emotional as he reflected on the events of Jan. 6, saying there’s a “difference" between "a crime—even grave crimes— and a coup.” Kinzinger— an outspoken critic of former President Trump— is one of two Republicans serving on the select committee investigating the events of Jan. 6. He began by addressing the officers who are testifying, telling them they “won” despite how they may hav

Vacatio LegisLike most of those who have read Traditionis custodes, I was vastly intrigued by the bit right at the end.Legal enactments of any and every sort, secular and religious, tell you when the new law will come into effect. Summorum Pontificum, for example, came into effect a couple of months after it was published. But TC was to come into effect as soon as it had been published in Osservatore Romano (a journal which, by a curious coincidence, went ... that day ... behind a paywall). So TC was shared with the world's media on a Friday; Osservatore Romano...

The news over the past few years has offered little to cheer about, but a recent story reporting an unprecedented 43 percent decline in membership in the Boy Scouts of America from 2019 to 2020—from 1.97 million Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts to 1.12 million—was especially dispiriting. To make matters worse, the Associated Press reports that BSA membership has fallen even further since 2020—to about 762,000. For purposes of comparison, combined enrollment in the BSA—Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts—peaked in 1972 at 6.5 million members and as recently as 1998 was 4.8 million. These numbers are shockingly grim. The once-robust...

Coming to the Olympics and being head star isn’t an easy feat.”

Editor’s Commentary: Let’s start with the biggest question that is not getting adequately answered by anyone in government, mainstream media, academia, or Big Pharma. Why is natural immunity to Covid-19 being disregarded completely? It’s not just getting ignored. The powers-that-be are actively and aggressively quashing every question, “debunking” every study, and torturing every number they can get their hands on in order to make them say what they want. The agenda to drive universal vaccinations of the populace has forced them into a corner when it comes to the question of natural immunity. They can’t say it’s not a reasonable...

“. . . And in your brotherly kindness, Christian love” (2 Peter 1:7). Sacrificial love proves genuine faith. Classical Greek had three common terms for love. As we saw yesterday, phileo (philadelphia) is the love of give and take, best expressed in friendship. Eros is the love that takes—one loves another strictly for what he or she can get out of that person. It is typical of the world’s sexual and lustful desires, which are always bent toward self-gratification. Agape is the love that gives. It is completely unselfish, with no taking involved. This is the highest form of love,...

A Big Tech-led group is using its influence and power to broaden its shared censorship database to curb “extremist content” and collect video and images deemed white supremacist, according to Reuters. The expansion comes after the group “took on renewed urgency” after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, which Democrats and tech giants continue to use as an excuse to justify suppression. Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, and YouTube, tech oligarchs trigger-happy to deplatform political dissidents, founded the Global Internet Forum to Counter Terrorism in 2017 in what they labeled “a new collective effort to prevent the spread of terrorist and violent extremist...

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which he consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, his flesh…. let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water” (Hebrews 10:19-20, 22, NKJV). There are two sides to Christ’s work at Calvary. One side is to the benefit of man, and the other side is to the benefit of God. One benefits the sinner, while the other benefits the Father....

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) continues to defend her racist policy with reporters. Speaking to “Sway” host Kara Swisher in an interview published in The New York Times on Monday, Lightfoot explained her outrageous decision to only accept interviews from non-White journalists. “I would absolutely do it again,” Lightfoot told Swisher, who is, ironically, a White journalist. “I’m unapologetic about it because it spurred a very important conversation, a conversation that needed to happen, that should have happened a long time ago.” Pressed by Swisher to explain further, Lightfoot continued: “I’m a Black woman mayor. I’m the mayor of the...
