Mike Enzi, former Wyoming senator, dead at 77

Mike Enzi, the former Wyoming senator, died Monday after sustaining serious injuries in a recent bicycle accident near his home in Gillette, Wyoming.

Enzi, who was 77, "passed away peacefully" while surrounded by his family, a statement read. "His family expresses their deep appreciation for all of the prayers, support and concern. They now ask for privacy and continued prayers during this difficult time."

Enzi’s family said he was admitted to UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado. He was unconscious and unable to recover from his injuries, which included a broken neck and ribs, the family said.

Now might be a topical moment to remind everyone that even though Mike Enzi had a very respectable lifetime ACU rating, about a decade ago, Liz Cheney decided she was going to primary him. If that wasn’t foreshadowing, I don’t know what is.

Solid, salt-of-the-earth conservative Senator and sweet grandpa. Son of a humble shoe salesman and Eagle Scout who worked his way up from nothing and was happy just representing the people of a rural, western state INSTEAD of being some kind of national figure who gets his face on TV constantly.

Shame on the self-appointed "Tea Party leaders" and conservative pundits who tried to primary him out of office and replace him with loudmouth privileged RINO princess Liz Cheney because Enzi was "too old" and his record was "only" 90% perfect.

I didn’t realize it was an accident. That’s terrible. Some NBA assistant coach was killed the other day biking, by a car, I don’t know if Enzi’s was car related. My 74 year old uncle bikes on the streets of Chicago. Honestly, I’m afraid to.
