WASHINGTON, Friday, July 19. I left our advance camp at 10 o'clock this morning. All the columns had come together, and were encamped one mile this side of Centreville, and four from Bull's Run. No movement was intended to-day. The roads and works of the rebels were to be reconnoitered, and an advance movement will be made to-morrow. The rebel batteries will not be attacked in front if they can be turned. This city is full of absurd rumors about the Bull's Run affair. Nothing whatever was attempted after the ceasing of the fire of our batteries. The Sixty-ninth and...

Monday, FNC host Tucker Carlson decried the media effort to promote vaccinations by blaming the continued spread of COVID-19 on those that have not yet gotten vaccinations. Carlson also responded to comments from former FNC correspondent Carl Cameron criticizing Fox News for its primetime personalities’ willingness to question the vaccinations.

Well, that was fast. According to the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), the Covid recession is over, lasting just two months. That is the shortest recession in US history. But read the fine print: “The Covid-19 recession ended in April 2020, the National Bureau of Economic Research said Monday.” Like the Case-Shiller house price index, this measure of recession is lagged. So, it tells us good news … from April 2020 PRIOR to President Biden and the Pelosi/Schumer “Stimulypto” Congress. So, if there is a link between economic recessions and Federal Reserve monetary policy, why is The Fed continuing...

A reader wrote in to ask, “How are the Democrats/left controlling social media and the news? I truly don’t understand how this is happening and would appreciate your thoughts.”Focused Like a Laser Beam — 100% About PowerIt did seem to happen almost overnight, didn’t it? It was as if all the chess pieces were in place to take over most popular methods of communication. But this has been at work in media for a long time, just as it has been on college campuses and in corporations that suddenly appear “woke,” arranged by people who want nothing less than to...

This is the feast date for the early Christian martyr Saint Margaret the Virgin of Antioch (only one of many saints named Margaret). Margaret might in principle be of interest to this site as the patroness of the falsely accused, and one of the saints who spoke to Joan of Arc, but her star has fallen quite a bit since its medieval heyday on the celestial all-star team; considering the doubtful historicity of this bog-standard Diocletian martyr, the Catholic Church has dropped some of her celebrations. So instead we’ll turn to a namesake of Margaret’s — well, namesake once removed....

Supply chain problems continue to plague the restaurant industry, leading big chains Taco Bell and Starbucks to warn consumers on Monday that some items may not be available. Starbucks told customers on its app that “due to supply shortages, some items are temporarily unavailable.” That echoed warnings that have persisted at the chain’s locations for months. Consumers have complained on social media channels about periodic shortages of items such as green tea. At Taco Bell, customers are complaining about a lack of hot sauce. The Mexican fast-food chain’s website warns customers that not all items are available at the moment....

VIDEODid the two anti-Trump Washington Post reporters Carol Leonnig and Phil Rucker interview White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows for their smear book? The question has to be asked because there is a YUUUUUGE disconnect in their story between what General Mark Milley and Meadows claimed was said during an important conversation they had at the Army-Navy game last year. Leonnig claimed that there was NOTHING in their book that they couldn't corroborate independently. So did they corroborate the conversation with the other participant in it with Milley, namely Mark Meadows? Ironically the two reporters appeared on a show...

A coronavirus outbreak linked to a Cape Cod summer vacation hotspot prompted local health officials on Monday to institute a new mask advisory, a report said. Residents in Provincetown, Massachusetts, are being advised to wear the face coverings indoors following the cluster of 132 cases that is believed to have stemmed from Fourth of July celebrations, NBC Boston reported. Many of those infected are fully vaccinated and 89 of them are Massachusetts residents, the report said. As part of the advisory, passed Monday by the Provincetown Board of Health, high-density venues are urged to enforce vaccination status upon entry, the...

A black market for fake COVID vaccine passes has emerged in France, where the government is trying to make them a mandatory condition of entry for venues like bars, restaurants and cafes. Clinics in Paris are offering the passes for around €300 euros ($350 dollars) without the need to take any jabs. “Certain vaccination centres, flagships of the fights against Covid-19 are now plagued by corruption,” reported French newspaper Le Parisien, revealing that low paid French health service workers are making as much as £4,000 a month through selling the fraudulent documents. In doing so, they are risking 3 years...

---SNIP--- And while the bullets were flying, what was the district attorney of Philadelphia up to? The city official most responsible for the local gun violence epidemic was choking up, and feigning tears at a press conference while lying through his teeth.

It is hard to sit by and watch your economy being strangled. Ibram X. Kendi’s book “How to Be an Antiracist” is all the rage now, but the Biden administration and its progressive hangers-on are providing a master class on “How to Be an Anticapitalist” and suck the air out of the economy. Start by paying people to do nothing—1.8 million workers, according to a recent Morning Consult poll, have turned down jobs due to generous unemployment benefits, including an extra $300 a week from the federal government in some states. Meanwhile, Burger King is offering a $1,500 signing bonus....

More than 6 in 10 vaccinated Americans now say they would get an additional COVID-19 booster shot if it were available to them, according to a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll. The survey of 1,715 U.S. adults, which was conducted from July 13 to 15, found that a full 62 percent of those who’ve been vaccinated would receive another jab if possible, while just 18 percent would decline. Another 20 percent are not sure.

Three years ago, I conducted a poll on Facebook asking, “Should pastors and Christian leaders just preach the gospel, or should they also comment on relevant social and political issues?” Exactly three years later, I posted the same poll on Twitter. How did the results compare? Obviously, there is nothing scientific about these polls. They simply indicate how my Facebook and Twitter communities feel about the question. As for these two social media communities, although they have much in common, in many ways they are disparate in their viewpoints and beliefs. How did the results compare? In 2018 on Facebook,...

Radiant calorimetry of excess heat production in NiCu multilayer foil with hydrogen gas J. Kasagi1 , T. Itoh1,2, Y. Shibasaki2 , T. Takahashi2 , M. Saito2 and Y. Iwamura1 1 Research Center for Electron Photon Science, Tohoku University, Japan 2 Clean Planet Inc., Japan E-mail: kasagi@lns.tohoku.ac.jp It is shown in the NEDO project [1,2] that a nano-structured composite metal with hydrogen gas produces anomalous excess heat (AEH) when samples are heated to several hundred degrees. We have developed more convenient heat-generating method [3], using a multilayer composite metal thin film instead of the amorphous metal powder. The method is superior...

It seems like everywhere you look these days while driving on the road – especially on college campuses – an odd-phrased bumper sticker with religious symbols spelling “COEXIST” can be seen. This phrase contains the spiritual symbols of the major religions or fallen spiritual ideologies of mankind (Rom. 1:18-32). Every letter in the “COEXIST” phrase has a symbol representing a religious system or fallen spiritual ideology: “C” for the crescent and star (representing Islam); “O” is dotted with the Karma Wheel (Buddhism) “E” as energy in the relativity equation (Science); “X” illustrating the star of David (Judaism); the “I” representing...

The Rank Shame of the FBI’s Rank and File It’s up to the rank and file to earn back the trust and respect of the American people.More than 530 mostly peaceful Trump supporters have now been arrested for their unauthorized tour of the Capitol on January 6. The incomparable Julie Kelly has covered in grueling detail their arrests, indefinite detainment, and the cruelty with which they’ve been treated by the federal government. Many of these protesters have been arrested by the FBI, a once-revered federal law enforcement entity that at one point might have deserved your respect. It doesn’t anymore....

Fret not when evil EXPONENTIALLY manifests itself and seeks to dominate our life and culture; for this world and its godless vain rebellion and agenda is but only a vapor in light of the ETERNAL RIGHTEOUS Kingdom of Almighty God (1 John 2:15-17)! Friend, see the ETERNAL and believe Almighty God; then you will be ETERNALLY free indeed (John 8:32-26; Col. 3:1-4; 1 John 2:15-17)! Friend, see the ETERNAL and believe Almighty God; then you will be ETERNALLY free indeed! When a nation founded on the Laws of Nature and Nature's ETERNAL RIGHTEOUS CREATOR; fully rejects Him and abhors Him;...

Demanding the Impossible: Traditionis custodes and Vernacular ReadingsAmong its many, many unjust prescriptions, Traditionis custodes says that the readings at the usus antiquior are now to be “proclaimed in the vernacular language, using translations of the Sacred Scripture approved for liturgical use by the respective Episcopal Conferences” (n. 3, § 3). Quite aside from what this actually means in practice (e.g., would chanting the lections in Latin, then reading them in the vernacular before the homily suffice?), it is clear that this demand has, like the rest of the document, been drafted by someone totally unfamiliar with the traditional Latin...
