How to Be an Anticapitalist. Progressive policy makers won’t learn that parasites should never kill their host.
Wall Street Journal ^ | July 18, 2021 | Andy Kessler

It is hard to sit by and watch your economy being strangled. Ibram X. Kendi’s book “How to Be an Antiracist” is all the rage now, but the Biden administration and its progressive hangers-on are providing a master class on “How to Be an Anticapitalist” and suck the air out of the economy.

Start by paying people to do nothing—1.8 million workers, according to a recent Morning Consult poll, have turned down jobs due to generous unemployment benefits, including an extra $300 a week from the federal government in some states. Meanwhile, Burger King is offering a $1,500 signing bonus.

Anticapitalists then shut pipelines (except Russian ones) and suspend drilling leases in parts of Alaska, helping send oil prices above $70. The government says it wants to limit carbon emissions, but then it squashes better energy options like nuclear. On June 30, months after New York state closed the Indian Point nuclear power plant, Mayor Bill de Blasio asked New Yorkers to cut back on energy usage during a heat wave. You can’t make this stuff up.

An anticapitalist would next restrict capital formation, so President Biden has proposed raising the top capital-gains rate from 23.8% to a punitive 43.4% and the top individual income-tax rate to 39.6%. Mr. Biden also wants to waive Covid vaccine patents—making pharma companies think twice before investing in new drugs—and is even pushing a series of antitrust bills that could reverse mergers, like Facebook’s 2012 purchase of Instagram, as if that would do anything good for the economy or consumers. Nothing is safe.

Add the Federal Trade Commission’s roadblocks to mergers. It worked hard to block early-cancer-detection pioneer Grail’s merger with genome-sequencing firm Illumina, now on hold as it lets the European Commission investigate. This is moronic.

You know, those poor socialists in Cuba are just falling apart — and it’s all because the rich and successful capitalists in the USA won’t trade with them and prop up their failing system. We are such meanies!

“parasites should never kill their host”

I don’t think that’s necessarily true if the parasite has no interest in the survival of its offspring. Such a parasite can keep switching to new hosts, as long as the supply does not run out.

Winston Churchill put it best (as he so often did):

"Capitalism is the uneven sharing of bounty...socialism is the equal sharing of misery".

Thatcher put it pretty well herself:

"Socialism works until you run out of other people's money."

I've visited several Communist/socialist countries in my day...China,in particular, caught my attention. During my most recent visit I stopped in Guangzhou,(aka: "Canton") which is a couple of hours north of Hong Kong. The city center has some new gleaming buildings but when you're 5 miles outside the city you're in the year 1544.

Seems to be the MO of Communists:

Progressive policy makers won’t learn that parasites should never kill their host.

Operation Mockingbird adherents won’t learn that parasites should never kill their host.

Mockingbird started in the mid-1950's by the CIA to insert a few of their operatives in the media. Today it's the MSM/Enemedia.

The successful parasites don’t kill their hosts. They weaken them but don’t kill.

Everyone should have known that Biden’s intentions were no good when he killed the Keystone Pipeline on day one of his administration. Why would you kill something that provide immediate employment to 11,000 workers? Follow the money: Warren Buffet is a large contributor to Joe and owns the only rail line that runs between the ND oil fields and the refineries in the Mississippi Delta.

The even bigger question: How come Hunter, Hillary, Comey, Sharpton, et al, aren’t in jail?

“raising the top capital-gains rate from 23.8% to a punitive 43.4%”

I believe my father paid a 50% tax rate on his earned income during the peanut guy administration.

One has a choice to make a higher income or hit the golf course.

With capital gains the choice is to sell or not sell the shares. People might not sell the shares of a winner and pay a 43.4% tax merely to get to jump on the back of another corporate horse.

Jeff Bezos might set up an online bank and borrow on his shares for what the banks pay on CDs. Jeff would be considerably richer if he borrowed on his shares rather than selling some.

“killed the Keystone Pipeline”

Alberta could ship its oil out via Canada’s northern rivers and sell it to China.

When did the CIA go from anti-Communist to pro-Maxist, Jihadi? While I think the Obama Administration gave it a big push (especially with Brennan in charge), I think the ball got rolling under Clinton, and maybe even Bush I.

Yup. Even in the worst Commie xxx-holes, those at the very top live quite well (unless they get purged). It’s good to be the King.

Ms. Gimme, are you a Democrat?

Yes, and I vote every time I get a chance.

How are things going for you and your family?

Our apartment is largely paid for by Section 8.

Our food is paid for my SNAP benefits.

Health care is completely free for the kids and almost free for me.

We get heating & air conditioning financial help every year.

We now get $300/month for each of my kids. I’ll invest some of that in lottery tickets and some spirits to keep up my spirits. Once they make the $300/month permanent, I’ll get a car.

Thanks, Joe, Nancy and Chuck, you are the greatest!

What rivers would it use? The Rockies block the Alberta Oil Fields and the Pacific and the major rivers flow south.

The whole point of the anticapitalists’ plan is to destroy the system. They want the host dead, so that they can replace it with communism. That’s the way they think.

Turn your clock back AT LEAST back to 1960.

JFK's intentions turned out to be deadly.

Without the common assumptions underlying radical ideologies, inclusive from fascism to communism, the 20th century would have likely been far more peaceful and prosperous time, if only because WW1 would not have had been set off by some lowlifes of that mindset.
