There’s a gin joint in Denver by the name of Bar Max, and the owner has been up and running for more than a month after the government shutdown orders were lifted. Getting out ahead of the curve, owner Marshall Smith has been requiring proof of vaccination to drink indoors at his establishment since he reopened. And now, after the confusing new guidelines issued by the CDC, he’s allowing customers to go maskless in the bar, though again, they have to prove they’ve been vaccinated. ...One of the challenges people foresaw with vaccines for a virus that mutates a lot like the flu is that the immunity against the spike protein might not work against mutant strains. But studies thus far have show that natural immunity is even more robust. A new preprint study from French researchers tested blood samples from health care workers who never had the virus but got both Pfizer shots against blood samples from those health care workers who had a previous mild infection and a third group of patients who had a serious case of COVID. They found, "No neutralisation...

The ABC, CBS and NBC evening networks didn’t seem to mind New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) monetizing the disastrous way he handled the pandemic in his state. The Associated Press (AP) reported that Monday disclosures revealed Cuomo was “paid a $3.1 million advance to write his COVID-19 leadership book last year.” In addition, “under his publishing contract[, Cuomo] will make another $2 million on the memoir over the next two years.” AP stated that the windfall “inflamed critics who have said it was inappropriate for Cuomo to personally enrich himself with a self-congratulatory book, published just as the state...

My home state is no stranger to election fraud: New Jerseyans will remember well just last August when Paterson, New Jersey – the state’s third-largest city – had to hold a new election for a City Council seat due to massive mail-in voter fraud. Nonetheless, Phil Murphy and the Democrat administration in Trenton plowed ahead with their plans to conduct elections in New Jersey almost entirely by mail in November, ignoring pleas from local election boards to put safeguards in place to prevent the kind of widespread fraud seen in Paterson from occurring throughout the state. Proponents of gutting election...

AEI scholar Peter J. Wallison has a new book out today titled “Hidden in Plain Sight: What Really Caused the World’s Worst Financial Crisis and Why It Could Happen Again.” Though the standard narrative is that the 2008 financial crisis was caused by Wall Street greed and insufficient regulation, Wallison argues that US government housing policies played a crucial role. On January 14th, AEI is hosting an event on “Hidden in Plain Sight” — more details here. Below, Wallison answers questions on the future of Fannie and Freddie, the effect of government involvement in the financial crisis, the bankruptcy of...

After Lt. Col. Matthew Lohmeier was relieved of his duties by the U.S. Space Force—for the 1984-esque crime of speaking out against Marxist ideology—his self-published book shot to number one on Amazon's charts Monday before selling out. *snip* The unceremonious ouster of Lohmeier for daring to call out the dangers of the Left's ideas in a book—a project of which the military was previously aware—is only the latest incident in our military's accelerating descent into woke inanity that's taken place as critical race theory-based trainings and the wild claims of the 1619 Project go mainstream under the Biden administration.

Reassuring words are vital as we strive to deal in a godly fashion with trials and sufferings in our Christian lives. In today’s verse, Peter opens with a pastoral term (“beloved”) that conveys tenderness, love, and concern for his audience. It reinforces in a single word the concepts of fervent love...
