The Georgia state House passed an amendment Wednesday that would strip Delta Air Lines of a multimillion-dollar tax break after the company blasted the state’s new election laws. Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed into law last week a bill overhauling his state’s election procedures designed to increase security and address issues that surrounded the 2020 election. Delta initially supported key measures of the legislation after it was signed, then backtracked days later amid calls for boycotts pushed by left-wing publications. Delta CEO Ed Bastian said the new election law “does not match Delta’s values.” Republicans in the state House,...

Florida’s Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner, Nikki Fried (D), used an appearance on MSNBC to criticize Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) for his COVID response; Fried is rumored to be preparing to challenge DeSantis for his reelection bid in 2022. Fried accused DeSantis of “going off on a rampage” earlier this week, when he vowed to sign an executive order banning the use of vaccine passports. The Biden administration is planning to spearhead the implementation of vaccine passports to require individuals to show proof of vaccination in order to attend public events, travel, and reenter normal life. “It’s completely unacceptable for...

Commercializing Christian holidays is, unfortunately, all too common. What was once a day of celebration marking a significant development in church history turns into a secular day for drinking, collecting candy, or getting a new Xbox. April Fools' Day is no exception. The world celebrates this day by pranking each other, making fake announcements on the internet, and other such tomfoolery. But we Christians know the true meaning of the holiday, as we somberly recall the brutal martyrdom of St. April O'Fool in 723 A.D. Born in Ireland in 673, O'Fool lived a somewhat unlucky life, as he was constantly...

The entire video has been analyzed by George Parry, a former chief of the police Brutality/Misconduct Unit of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s office from 1978 to 1983. It was at that point Officer Chauvin begins to kneel on Mr. Floyd’s neck, which Mr. Parry says, “is entirely consistent with what is taught” at the Minneapolis police department academy. The video shows Mr. Chauvin’s knee going up each time Floyd attempted to raise his head, indicating, says Mr. Parry, that Mr. Chauvin “was not using brute force.” When officers noticed Floyd deteriorating “they placed another call for an ambulance” with a...

The Five Universal Laws of Human Stupidity We underestimate the stupid, and we do so at our own peril. Law 1: Always and inevitably everyone underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation. No matter how many idiots you suspect yourself surrounded by, Cipolla wrote, you are invariably lowballing the total. This problem is compounded by biased assumptions that certain people are intelligent based on superficial factors like their job, education level, or other traits we believe to be exclusive of stupidity. They aren’t. Which takes us to: Law 2: The probability that a certain person be stupid is independent...

A video on social media appears to show an attack on an Asian couple in Tacoma and police are calling it a hate crime. Investigators are using the footage of that assault to track down the people responsible. One major obstacle is that investigators are still trying to identify who the Asian couple is because so far no one has come forward to say they were attacked. The video shows an older couple walking through a neighborhood when two teenage boys or young adults rushed up to them. A third teenager recorded the attack, in which an older man is...

SINCE PRESIDENT JOE Biden on March 11 directed that states make every adult eligible for a coronavirus vaccine by May 1, many states have ramped up their vaccine rollouts; moving up dates and announcing new eligibility to meet the president's timeline. But vaccine rollouts vary by state. Alaska was the first state to announce and implement eligibility for all adults on March 9. Mississippi has since followed suit, with all individuals 16 and older becoming eligible on March 16. Among other states that have recently made all adults eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine, West Virginia opened up eligibility to all...

Gov. Gavin Newsom is pulling out all the stops to paint the people trying to recall him as conservative Republicans. He's run ads on Facebook that say the effort is all about "riling up that Trump base." He's emailing donors saying "anti-maskers, anti-vaxxers, and notably, some of Trump's biggest donors" are pushing the recall. He's sending supporters bumper stickers that say "Stop the Republican Recall," the official name of his campaign. San Diego-based Republican political consultant Jennifer Jacobs said she thinks support for the recall goes beyond politics. "It screams desperation," Jacobs said of the Republican recall branding. "I think...

A fourth wave of coronavirus infections is beginning to mount in states across the nation as health experts and officials beg pandemic-exhausted Americans to stay vigilant. The United States has reported an average of 65,000 new cases in the last seven days, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), up about 10,000 cases per day since the most recent nadir two weeks ago.

Orrin Heatlie was recovering from a back procedure and browsing social media in 2019 when he found a video of California Gov. Gavin Newsom instructing immigrants in the country illegally not to open their doors to law enforcement unless officers had a warrant. The 52-year-old retired county sheriff's sergeant was incensed, believing Newsom's message was an insult to his profession. It was an unsurprising reaction for a Republican who built a 25-year career in law enforcement. What Heatlie did next would eventually slingshot the political neophyte to the center of California's political world: He started researching a recall campaign. Twenty-one...

A £24,000 statue of Greta Thunberg installed at a university has sparked anger among students who have branded it a “vanity project”. The University of Winchester believes it is the world’s first life-sized sculpture of the “inspirational” Swedish environmental activist. But the students’ union said the funds could have been better spent. The university said “no money was diverted” from student support or staffing for the project. President of Winchester Student Union Megan Ball described Thunberg as a “fantastic role model to everyone, as someone who speaks loudly and proudly about important global issues”, but said the union could not...

A portrait of former President Trump will be unveiled in the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., when it reopens, Washingtonian reports. Trump's portrait will be the latest addition to the museum's "America’s Presidents" gallery, a permanent exhibit within the museum. The portrait itself is only temporary, however — Trump's official portrait is still in the works. A museum spokesperson told Washingtonian that the final work of art is still in its initial phase of creation. Typically, presidential portraits can take as long as two years from the time they are commissioned until they are debuted to the public. As...

For nearly a decade, California farmer Jack LaPant was the target of an investigation and prosecution by the United States Army, who alleged that LaPant violated the Clean Water Act by growing a wheat crop to feed his cattle. Earlier this year, LaPant was able to settle the case to get the Army out of his hair, but the settlement required him to give the Army more than $1 million in money and land value. This, despite the fact that the government never proved a single allegation in court.

Edmundo Sanchez said one of his foster children suffered an anxiety attack A Washington state social services nonprofit is evicting a foster father and his family to make way for illegal immigrants, the parent told Fox News on Wednesday. I voluntarily signed up for the first or second time the university offered a certificate course in “Diversity Training.” Each week we learned about another demographic group in our society — Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Gays, Women, the Elderly, Indo-Asians — and then we would bond as a group each week at a group lunch at a restaurant themed around that group: a Black “Soul Food” restaurant, a Mexican restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, an Indian restaurant. I privately approached the program director and said, “Y’know, for all the sensitivity and group bonding, you are isolating me as an Orthodox Jew. All...

Unquestionably, much of the Biden infrastructure plan is an unmitigated disaster. Brad Polumbo has an excellent article up that highlights some of the most egregious spending provisions of the Biden plan. They include $10 billion to create a “Civilian Climate Corp,” $20 billion to advance “environmental justice,” and $100 billion to make schools greener by doing things like eliminating paper plates. The truth is that while the Biden plan is a disaster, it exists – in part – because of the GOP’s own refusal to deal with the issue of infrastructure when we held the House, Senate, and the White...
