Walt Brooks, R-St. George, is sponsoring HB60 in the Utah Legislature’s upcoming 2021 general session, set to begin Jan. 19. WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Dominion Voting Systems Inc has filed a lawsuit against former President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani, accusing him of defamation for making false claims of fraud about the November 2020 U.S. presidential election, court documents on Monday showed. Dominion earlier filed lawsuits against the Trump campaign and former Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell, whom the company also accused of spreading false conspiracy theories about the election that Trump lost to Democrat Joe Biden. Giuliani's lawyer, Robert Costello, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A group of prominent attorneys last week asked New York’s judiciary...

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher suggested racism in America is exaggerated by “radicals,” such as members of the Marxist political organization Black Lives Matter. “Is the picture of America that’s presented by the radicals, I would say — Black Lives Matter, some of them, the anti-racists — of America 2021, is it an accurate picture? Because sometimes I’m like, ‘Are they talking about 2021?'” asked Maher on his show, according to a report by Daily Beast.

WASHINGTON, Thursday, Jan. 24. Many Northwestern Republicans are disposed to accept the greater portion of Senator DOUGLAS' last new Compromise. They will even swallow his refined and somewhat modified Popular Sovereignty. The proposition to extend the Presidential term to six years, making the President ineligible to re-election, and electing him by a direct popular vote, meets much favor. Mr. DOUGLAS will press his resolutions to a consideration by the Senate at the earliest moment, but it is exceedingly doubtful if they can be passed before the 4th of March. Another new project among Northern and Border State men is that...

A new report from Axios indicates trust in traditional media sources has hit an all-time low with fewer than half of all Americans confident in the information they are receiving. Using information from Edelman’s annual trust barometer, the report notes that trust in traditional media has plummeted even since 2020. Axios states that just 46 percent of all Americans trust the media and, following the election, numbers dropped even further as just 18 percent of Republicans are expressing faith in purveyors of the news. “Mistrust of media is now a central part of many Americans’ personal identity — an article...

Remember the old New Orleans Saints coach Jim Mora who went nuts at a press conference? “Playoffs? Playoffs? Don’t talk about playoffs! Are you kidding me?” Advertisement - story continues below You can quote me today: “Unity? Unity? Are you freakin’ kidding me? There’s no unity. Biden can mouth the word ‘unity’ all he wants. It’s a lie. Democrats don’t want unity. They want to censor us, ban us, purge us, wipe away American history like it never happened, and then intimidate us into meekly going along with it all. They want us kneeling and saying ‘thank you’ while they...

(TeaParty.org Exclusive) – Various text message conversations shared to Twitter reveal that Americans who voted for newly inaugurated President Joe Biden are already starting to regret what they’ve done. Reality can be pretty harsh when it sets in, can’t it? Yup—they’re just starting to figure out what us Trump voters were going on about this whole time, aren’t they? In one exchange, a woman explains that a friend of hers who wasn’t super involved in politics got a wakeup call when her husband lost his job. In a group text with some Biden voters. I bet a form of this...

Recently, a friend told me that she’s never seen Forrest Gump before—which is a crime in my house. So I made her watch the movie with me (spoilers ahead). In light of recent events, this movie has taken on a new meaning for me. Though Forrest and Jenny started “like peas and carrots,” each of them soon got swept up by a different one of America’s 20th-century cultural currents. Forrest’s path was classically American: going to college, playing football, serving his country, starting his own business, and going to church. Jenny, on the other hand, dabbles in counterculture: dropping out...

Jan. 23 (UPI) -- The number of new cases of COVID-19 has fallen over the last two weeks, but public health officials worry new variants could erase progress and multiple local health agencies are cancelling vaccination appointments amid concerns about supply. New COVID-19 cases have fallen 21 percent in the last two weeks, according to the New York Times' coronavirus tracker, and hospitalizations have followed suit. But public health experts worry that the spread of new, more contagious variants of the virus could undo progress in containing the virus, and current models say the death count -- which exceeds the...

I never expected that an MSNBC host would deliver outright admission that the media have a serious double standard and would attack Donald Trump for actions that Joe Biden just took to no approbation at all. Has someone spiked the coffee pot at the MSNBC's D.C. studios with sodium thiopental? Or is it that with Democrats in charge of all three elective organs of the federal government, it is deemed safe to let a little bit of truth out? We'll never know, but I am guessing we won't see any similar admissions anytime soon. ... MSNBC Live host Stephanie Ruhle...

Our Manuel — his “de Reus” surname came from his Dutch owner — appears to have been among the very earliest slaves imported into New Amsterdam when the Dutch West India Company first introduced this institution in 1626. By every indication apart from this brush with the scaffold he was a respected man who prospered about as well as his situation permitted. Manuel received (partial) freedom in 1644 along with nine other slaves, prominently including several others charged in this same fracas. These freedmen and their families would thereafter form the nucleus of Manhattan’s first black community by settling (post-manumission)...
