There has already been reason to suspect that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is daydreaming more than usual about creating a socialist utopia in the midst of this crisis. The other day she said on Twitter that the collapse of oil prices was wonderful to see, ignoring the fact that it could mean hundreds of thousands of people will be out of work soon.AOC quickly pulled down the tweet in question and never really tried to defend the idea massive job losses were good news. But today there’s a preview of an interview she did with Vice in which she suggests...

The question, of course, is not whether unemployment is worse than death. The question is whether the unemployment of millions is worth a very slight risk of death. But Andy Cuomo is not a very intelligent person. Mr. Cuomo was then asked if a fundamental right to work exists if “the government can’t get [citizens] the money” they need in a timely manner. “You want to go to work?” Mr. Cuomo replied. “Go take a job as an essential worker.” turns out that there are a lot of “essential” workers, beyond those who are obviously needed, like truck drivers and...

The 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has significantly disrupted the livelihoods of Americans. In Proclamation 9994 of March 13, 2020 (Declaring a National Emergency Concerning the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak), I declared that the COVID–19 outbreak in the United States constituted a national emergency, beginning March 1, 2020. Since then, the American people have united behind a policy of mitigation strategies, including social distancing, to flatten the curve of infections and reduce the spread of SARS–CoV–2, the virus that causes COVID-19.  This needed behavioral shift has taken a toll on the United States economy, with national unemployment claims reaching historic levels. In the days between the national...

A senior US government doctor who worked on the search for a coronavirus vaccine has claimed he was fired after resisting Donald Trump’s push to use the unproven drug hydroxychloroquine as a treatment, the New York Times reported on Wednesday. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) propaganda claims the country suffered a relative handful of infections during the coronavirus pandemic compared to other countries around the world and has all but eradicated the virus across most of China, but state media this week tacitly admitted the disease is still raging and told readers to prepare for preventive measures remaining necessary far into the future. The Global Times on Tuesday wrote an editorial quoting the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) warning that “the worst is yet ahead of us.” The primary thrust of the editorial was to chastise American and European officials who want...

The United States has assessed that Iran successfully launched a military satellite into orbit for the first time on Wednesday, two US Defense Department officials said, according to CNN. The move is seen as a significant step because the country's space program utilizes the same technology that would be needed to launch an intercontinental ballistic missile, which would increase Tehran's capability to strike enemy targets. US Space Command is tracking two objects in orbit that were launched from within Iran, one of the officials said, according to CNN. One is a rocket body and the other is assessed to be...

A protest of statewide policies intended to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus was planned in downtown Rochester today, according to social media posts. The call to block downtown streets, including four blocks of South Broadway and streets outside the city-county Government Center, for up to three hours echoes similar protest events around the U.S. the past week. Local law enforcement officers and Mayo Clinic did not immediately respond to calls seeking comment. Greg Gallas, who shared the post on social media, said he doesn’t know who is planning or organizing the protest, but added that he supports...

This week the Washington Post published a study that made the media downright giddy. A study on Veterans Affairs patients concluded that hydroxychloroquine was not all it's cracked up to be, as more COVID-19 patients died on the drug than not. “An association of increased overall mortality was identified in patients treated with hydroxychloroquine alone,†the study concluded. “These findings highlight the importance of awaiting the results of ongoing prospective, randomized, controlled studies before widespread adoption of these drugs.â€The reason so many reporters jumped on the study and confronted the White House task force with it, is because President Trump...

Trump says coronavirus 'may not come back at all' © Getty President Trump on Wednesday expressed confidence that the coronavirus will not hit the U.S. with the same severity if it returns in the fall, suggesting that the disease that has killed tens of thousands of Americans "may not come back at all." The comments came as part of a broader diatribe against a Washington Post headline that he felt unfairly characterized the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) warning that a second wave of the coronavirus could coincide with flu season. But Trump's assertion that the virus would...

This nation was totally shut down for ONE reason. That is what we were told at the time. That reason was to "flatten the curve", meaning to enable time for our medical capabilities to catch up with the need for treatment. There is ample evidence that even in our worst hit area of New York City that this in fact has been accomplished. The USS Comfort, provided as an overflow hospital option to the city in the heat of the battle, has been sent packing and according to New York is no longer needed.Across the country, hospitals have plenty of...

U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday he “totally disagrees” with Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s phase 1 plans to reopen tattoo parlors, bars, hair salons and other nonessential businesses this week. Trump said Kemp’s decision violates the phase 1 guidelines the White House announced last week that recommends states wait to ease social distancing restrictions until there’s widespread testing and a low level of community transmission. Trump said he respects Kemp’s right as a governor to make his own decision.

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D) is under fire again, after a controversy surrounding contracts for consultants hired to run data for the state of Michigan during COVID-19. Gov. Whitmer announced on Monday that a $200,000 no-bid contract would be signed and would allow subcontractors to be hired to help track data surrounding COVID-19, mainly those who have contracted the virus and who they may have interacted with.
