WANT A JOB? GET ESSENTIAL!
Powerline ^ | April 22,2020 | BY JOHN HINDERAKER

The question, of course, is not whether unemployment is worse than death. The question is whether the unemployment of millions is worth a very slight risk of death. But Andy Cuomo is not a very intelligent person.

Mr. Cuomo was then asked if a fundamental right to work exists if “the government can’t get [citizens] the money” they need in a timely manner.

“You want to go to work?” Mr. Cuomo replied. “Go take a job as an essential worker.”

turns out that there are a lot of “essential” workers, beyond those who are obviously needed, like truck drivers and checkout people at grocery stores. Pretty much every public employee appears to be “essential,” although most would question that characterization.

Here is a good example: the University of Minnesota Medical School is advertising for a Vice Dean for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The treacly job description seems like a message in a bottle from a former age. But it isn’t; the money is on offer as we speak. And when I say money, I’m not kidding: the salary range for this position is $392,000 to $400,000 annually:

The University of Minnesota Medical School seeks a transformational leader and motivated changemaker to assume the inaugural position of Vice Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion across our two unique campuses—Duluth and Twin Cities.

Yeah, right. Until now, the University of Minnesota Medical School has been a hotbed of prejudice and discrimination. Is there anyone in the world who actually believes this? Presumably not. And yet the diversity gravy train rolls on, while millions are unemployed by government dictates.

So when Andy Cuomo says the unemployed should try to become “essential,” hollow laughter is the only plausible response. Well, not the only one. Tar and feathers is another.

My father got his M.D. there in 1948. He was a white male. That proves it.

My wife’s job is considered “essential”.

After working the last two weeks, the company is paying her an 80-hours bonus the beginning of June (about the time we’re due for our pandemic payout).

The next two weeks she’s on a 36-hours schedule but will get paid 40 hours. In addition, she’s going to receive a $100 bonus.

That’s how private industry rewards their workers.

Well, all the essential jobs are essentially taken, making it essentially impossible to displace someone so essential to their employer

your mileage may vary...

The Taskmasters and Overseers are essential.

The workers in the field are replaceable.

Want a job?

Have friends in high places

$17-60 million dollar expenditure, zero patients. $2,000 per day salaries

https://www.click2houston.com/news/investigates/2020/04/22/commissioners-may-soon-pull-the-plug-on-harris-countys-pop-up-hospital-at-nrg-park/

Channel 2 Investigated obtained the full contract between the county and Garner Environmental Services.

Among some of the items in it, we found highly compensated personnel ranging from:

Various safety officers receiving day rates of $2,875, $2,300 and $2,012

- A finance section chief at $2,875 a day
Two public information officers at $2012 a day, even though the contract states “contact with the news media, citizens of Harris County or governmental agencies shall be the responsibility of the county.”

- “Obviously, the county has a lot of public information officers that could be given this task,” says Ed Emmett, former Harris County Judge and current KPRC 2 Political Analyst. “It’s a lot of money, $60 million, does that make sense,” asked Emmett after we showed him the contract.

"Two words: State bankruptcy."

Agreed, if you're recommending that as opposed to more big federal government spending on the states. McConnell is right about that (bankruptcy). We've already seen too much pork to the states for family busting programs and other crazy political correctness. The Clintons passed enormous numbers of small "partnerships" with funding to the states for getting the states to go along with anti-family and affirmative action moves, and it really added up.
