NOTE FROM DFU - during Bush/Gore recount, I spoke with the office of the Speaker of the House for Florida. To keep Gore from stealing the election, he was prepared to call joint session of the state legislature and, since GOP was in strong control of both bodies, they were prepared to award their state's electors to Bush. If their is massive voter fraud and manipulation by the Dems, state legislatures could actually decide the election. The stats in the article show GOP controlling most states. I have not determined the number of total electors in those states. If GOP...

Further, Trump assured the public on Twitter that “trade will not be affected.” On Tuesday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced the closure of his country’s borders to non-citizens with the exception of the U.S. The border with the U.S. was to remain open with “the level of integration of our two economies,” Trudeau said during his press conference. The Trump administration will provide further details on the matter and SaraACarter.com will update our readers.

Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby ordered her staff Wednesday to drop all pending criminal charges against anyone arrested for drug possession, attempted distribution, prostitution, trespassing, minor traffic offenses, open container, and urinating in public. Mosby said she is taking the action in an effort to reduce the threat of a coronavirus outbreak behind bars. These crimes pose no risk to public safety and the defendants would be released before trial in normal conditions, she wrote in a memo to prosecutors. “An outbreak in prison or jails could potentially be catastrophic,” she wrote them. “Now is not the time for a...

Plunging oil prices could be headed a lot lower – possibly below zero, according to one Wall Street analyst. West Texas Intermediate crude oil, the U.S. benchmark, fell by more than 10 percent Wednesday to near $24 a barrel, a level last seen in April 2002. “Oil prices can go negative,” wrote Paul Sankey, managing director at Mizuho Securities. If that weren't enough, Saudi Arabia recently slashed oil prices and raised output after Russia refused to join OPEC in deepening production cuts. Oil is a 100 million barrel-per-day market, but Sankey says it’s possible that the economic fallout from the...

...(2019-nCoV) in vitro (re-post)Pharma company Bayer will soon make a large donation to the U.S. government of a drug that has shown some promise in helping patients suffering from the novel coronavirus, according to a senior Health and Human Services official and another source with direct knowledge. Why it matters: It doesn't hurt to have a potential treatment on hand, but we're still a very long way from having an approved, clinically tested treatment for the coronavirus. The big picture: Early evidence suggests that chloroquine — an inexpensive anti-malarial drug — may work just as well, if not even better,...

Cell death by a process called apoptosis inhibits inflammation in surrounding tissue. The finding that dying apoptotic cells release a tailored cocktail of metabolite molecules reveals a way in which they influence their living neighbours. ====================================================================== “Marley was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that.” The iconic opening lines of Charles Dickens’s novel A Christmas Carol convey the idea of the finality of death, a concept that pervades our thinking even when considering the demise of cells. A dead cell is, to echo Dickens’s description of Marley, “as dead as a doornail”. But just as Marley...

Monday's Coronavirus Task Force press conference demonstrates the changed political, social, economic, and religious environment confronting USA. President Trump unveiled a new recommendation protocol for the next 15 days, approved by the task force today: · Avoid gatherings of more than 10 people · Avoid discretionary travel like shopping trips and social visits. · Avoid bars and restaurants and food courts — instead, use drive-thru, pickup, and delivery options · If you work in health care, pharmaceutical, or food supply, "you have a special responsibility to maintain your normal work schedule." · If someone in your house has tested positive,...

The CDC and its response to coronavirus has provided Americans with a small taste of what life under a government-run, single-payer healthcare system would be like, with the bureaucrats who make decisions that have life-or-death impacts reigning supreme in regard to what care will be provided and who will be allowed to get treatment. Who wants more?

The following is a statement from NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine on the passing of Apollo 15 astronaut Alfred "Al" Worden: “NASA sends its condolences to the family and loved ones of Apollo astronaut Al Worden, an astronaut whose achievements in space and on Earth will not be forgotten. “A Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, Worden was a test pilot and instructor before joining NASA as an astronaut in 1966. He flew to the Moon as command module pilot aboard Apollo 15. During this time he earned a world record as “most isolated human being" while his crew mates roamed...

Watching CNN and MSNBC these days is painful with their unending commentaries blaming President Trump for the spread of coronavirus in the United States. I believe history will show that all Western countries made mistakes in the way they initially reacted to this pandemic. It is clear there were systemic problems in all Western health systems to deal with this kind of health threat. Such problems in the United States at the federal, state and local levels predate President Trump — his administration did not cause them. At the same time, the mainstream media and Democratic politicians do not want...

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - It’s likely “few if any” California schools will reopen before summer break, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Tuesday as he provided a stark assessment of the implications from the spreading coronavirus that threatens to overwhelm the state’s hospitals and drain its spending reserves. While urging Californians to stay united and promising “we will get back to the life that we have lived,” Newsom also acknowledged much is unknown and so the state is preparing for frightening worst-case scenarios. He put the California National Guard on alert for duties that include humanitarian missions like ensuring proper food distribution and...

Italy's coronavirus outbreak may be so devastating because it has such an old population and the elderly come into frequent contact with the young. A study by the University of Oxford has suggested that multiple generations living under the same roofs 'accelerated' the spread of the virus in rural Italy. More than 31,000 people have been diagnosed with the virus in the crisis-hit country and at least 2,503 people have died – a death rate of almost one in 12. The country has the world's second oldest population after Japan – 22 per cent of people are over 65 –...

In Venice, the often murky canals recently began to get clearer, with fish visible in the water below. Italy’s efforts to limit the coronavirus meant an absence of boat traffic in the city’s famous waterways. And the changes happened quickly. Countries that have been under stringent lockdowns to stop the spread of the coronavirus have experienced an unintended benefit. The outbreak has, at least in part, contributed to a noticeable drop in pollution and greenhouse gas emissions in some nations. Though grim, it’s something that scientists said could offer tough lessons for how to prepare — and ideally avoid —...

Former Federal Reserve chairs Ben Bernanke and Janet Yellen are recommending that the central bank continue trying to shore up the economy against the coronavirus threat, even suggesting that it go beyond the powers it now has. In a Financial Times essay, the two say the Fed should look for more authority that would give it the power to purchase corporate bonds on top of the Treasurys and mortgage-backed securities it already plans to buy. “The Fed’s intervention could help restart that part of the corporate debt market, which is under significant stress,” Bernanke and Yellen wrote. “Such a program...
