475 new deaths. This is more than 3 times the number China ever ‘reported’ in a single day.

Well Thank God we’re not in Italy or Spain.
That’s why our ancestors left countries like those so we can panic and cry from a safe distance.

If you know how to read a log graph, you’ll notice the USA is doing much better than Spain or Italy at present, thanks to our “flattening the curve,” no thanks to the “Just the flu” morons.

The chart in post 6 was used as a role model in the book How to Lie With Statistics.
Notice the scale change on the Y Axis. Lets see the chart again with a normal scale.

Thank God for Urban Sprawl, too. Our relatively low population density should help.

My guess is that the Chinese numbers aren’t worth the paper they’re printed on.

Notice the scale change on the Y Axis. This "scale change" is known as a "semilog" graph. It's useful for illustrating and comparing exponential (or potentially exponential) increases, such as deaths during an epidemic. On this type of graph, an exponential increase appears as a straight line with a positive slope. The graph is useful, accurate, and illustrative as it stands.

Travis, draconian as those social distancing measures are, the US may have just avoided getting the death rates of the Italians and Spaniards. I wouldn't be surprised that the final death toll from COVID-19 in the USA wouldn't exceed 200. The fact we may start to administer synthetic quinine compounds to the vulnerable people could put a quick end to the seriously afflicted.

Bro, many here are an embarrassment.
I won’t mention your name...but go back to being terrified, it seems to be what you and WAY too many Americans do best these days.
I’m sure you glad you sacrificed your freedom for a little security.
Ben Franklin warned of people like you.
Cowards..oh not you..just saying...

Italy is on track to overtake total deaths in China. China has a population of over 1.4 Billion and the virus started there. Italy has a population of only 60 million. They shoulda followed President Trumps example and banned flights from China early. Political correctness costs deaths.

To: Travis McGee
Please post a BEFORE average chart of the countries involved. Until then your numbers mean NOTHING!!
