The homicide rate in Mexico is rising at record-setting pace this year, with more than 30,000 murders in the first seven months. It’s on target to hit almost 51,500 deaths by year’s end—about 1,000 more than in 2018 and 6,000 more than in 2017. That’s not accounting for the huge number of disappearances.

Presidential hopeful Beto O’Rourke (D), still struggling to crack three percent in most polls, took a break from the campaign trail to grill some burgers, according to a video posted Friday. The video surfaced last week, showing the former Texas lawmaker grilling a burger on a stovetop and placing a slice of cheese on the patty, slightly off-center. Although Tropical Storm Dorian’s five-day forecast cone now reaches South Florida, its effects will be felt by the time it nears Puerto Rico, where a hurricane watch and and tropical storm warning were issued early Tuesday. The Vigo County Drug Task Force early Saturday morning arrested a Terre Haute woman in possession of nearly half a pound of methamphetamine. MOSCOW, Aug 27 (Reuters) - A unit of Russian conglomerate Rostec said on Tuesday it was ready for an out-of-court settlement with Boeing over its order for 35 Boeing 737 MAX jets, a spokesman for Rostec's subsidiary Avia Capital Service told Reuters. Boeing MAX 737 jets have been grounded worldwide and airlines are cancelling multimillion contracts following crashes in October and March that killed 346 people.
