Normally, its a sitting president who urges the nation to stay the course. Voters prefer stability, so incumbents normally use it as a selling point while seeking reelection. But these are not normal times. In this campaign, the man in the Oval Office is selling transformation while his leading Democratic opponent is promising a return to the calmer days of no-drama Obama.
Its a political oddity.
Although Trumps slogan, Promises Made, Promises Kept, seems to stress continuity, he is really promising something quite different: to keep rolling back the Administrative State, recalibrating American foreign policy, and shaking up Washington. He is telling supporters that he has stuck with his major 2016 themes, especially fighting illegal immigration, lowering taxes, appointing conservative judges, cutting burdensome regulations, and reviving American manufacturing. Internationally, he is determined to wind down Americas long wars, avoid new ones, make Americas allies pay more for global security, and rework multilateral trade deals. Oh, and maybe purchase Greenland for the American people.
Thats an ambitious, transformative agenda, and Trump is running on it. Those policies, plus steady economic growth and an enthusiastic base, give him a decent chance of winning in November 2020, unless the economy falls into recession. His biggest liabilities are obvious: his grandiose personality and his erratic, thin-skinned behavior, which are on display daily.
(snip)
The presidential primaries only make the Democrats problems worse. ... all their top-tier candidates are running on expensive, unrealistic programs to transform Americas economy and society, and do it via centralized government.
The disagreement and it is vociferous comes from the partys agitated, Trump-hating base,
The fight over that progressive vision whether it is utopian or dystopian, whether it has already gone too far or not far enough is Americas most profound political conflict today.

Except for Biden, all their top-tier candidates are running on
Don't be fooled, Biden IS running exactly like Obama's previously expensive programs. But in today's standard from the Left, that was tame and not ambitious enough. Hence the in-flighting amongst the progressives will/could only intensify.
We haven't seen anywhere near peak crazy yet.
Trump is not pushing “transformation” so much as “restoration”. The values have been recorded from the earliest days of the Republic, but gradually abandoned, one after another, until in many instances we still have the FORM, but not the SPIRIT of the original meaning of the phrases and clauses of our founding documents.
Joe Biden has some sort of idea of maintaining the status quo developed in the days of the New Deal, and the Great Society. Both were perversions of the original intent of this nation. This is supposed to be “stability”.
Venezuela has LOTS of “stability”. Maduro hasn’t left yet, has he?
This post confirms my perception for which you called me insane.
>>> Trump is not pushing transformation so much as restoration.
Agreed.
However with > 4 decades of education towards the communism, restoring the old value system to the Founding Father days might as well be transforming (or even revolution).
Biden is Obama 2. Obama was a radical and so is Gropin’ Joe. People like you calling Biden a moderate are dangerous. Do you work for CNN?
Biden is an idiot and going nowhere
Oh please the purple lipped rateared dogeater
ticket ran on transformation and they sure
queered the pitch
From the idiocy theft of trillions and immorality of ghey marriage to 0care to shovel ready BS to pallets of cash to mortal enemies to cawps who acted stupidly to altering corporate bankruptcy to his thug sons of anarchy (BLM, Occufilth, Antifa) were still recovering
Joe Biden = “ZERO”!!! No further words are or dialogue is required..period!!!
Yup, if there is one thing that just screams out to me from Joe Biden its stability.
Joe is shooting for the stability of a white jacket with the sleeves that tie in the back.
Thanks Sir Napsalot.
