The Obama era represents a peak in black voters’ identification with the Democratic Party, which will have to fight to retain their loyalty. While President Obama made history by becoming the first black president in 2008, black voters made history four years later. In 2012, for the first time ever, black voter turnout nationally surpassed that of all other groups. But that is unlikely to happen in tomorrow’s election. An even bigger question to consider, however, is whether it will ever happen again. Black voter enthusiasm has been at an all-time high during the era of the first black president,...

Alva Lee Holmes is doing a most remarkable thing. She's making a bus in her oven. You heard right. Before most of us are even awake, she's in her kitchen at 4 a.m. putting together the ingredients for what she hopes will be a bus. And, her friends at Olivet Baptist Church couldn't be more grateful. The buses take retired seniors to church. But, when it rains, the buses are so rusted the seniors have to use umbrellas inside the bus to stay dry. That's when Alva Lee Holmes went to work. If you are interested in ordering a cake,...

Today is International Holocaust Day and cities across the U.S and Europe will be hosting special events to honor the Muslim heroes who risked their own lives to save Jews during one of the worst genocides in history. Unveiling the often unknown and rarely talked about Muslim protectors during World War II, New York, Washington, Geneva and Tirana in Albania will be holding interfaith ceremonies, sharing testimonies of the protectors during the Holocaust along with candle lighting ceremonies. Prominent faith leaders such as Imam Khalid Latif, Rabbi Jehuda Sarna as well as a Holocaust survivor, Johanna Neumann, who was rescued...

The Obama administration is expanding a data collection program aimed at ferreting out abuses of equal pay laws. President Barack Obama in 2014 directed the Labor Department to collect data from federal contractors about what they pay employees, sorted by gender, race and ethnicity. Obama's new proposal will cover all businesses with 100 or more employees, regardless of whether they contract with the government. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission will collect the data. ...

ROME (RNS) Controversy over Italy's decision to cover nude statues during the visit of Iran's president continued to spark debate as the leader of the Syrian Catholic Church criticized the episode, saying it pains persecuted Christians in Syria who feel forgotten. "This is our culture. If you don't want to see it, close your eyes!" an exasperated Patriarch Youssef III Younan told journalists in Rome on Thursday (Jan. 28). The head of the Syriac Catholic Church was speaking two days after ancient nude statues were covered by staff at Rome's Capitoline Museums in a bid to avoid offending the Iranian...

It turns out that a world without Donald Trump is filled with Donald Trump anyway. To many in the Republican Party, Thursday night's debate was a dream scenario -- seven candidates, and not a reality TV show billionaire in sight. No huge walls were hypothetically built, and no religious groups were banned from entry into the United States. Yet Trump was still everywhere. He was there for viewers on another channel, giant American flag behind him, two other Republican candidates beside him, chants of "USA, USA, USA" enveloping them. He was also there with the candidates as the "elephant not...

Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz came under fire Thursday night, being accused by 2016 rivals of not being truthful about his former position on immigration. The Texas senator was first grilled by moderator Megyn Kelly on the issue. She played video of Cruz saying he was in favor of passing immigration reform in 2013 if a pathway to citizenship was removed by way of an amendment he had proposed. Such reform would have still allowed for legalizing individuals who were in the U.S. illegally. "Was that all an act?" Kelly asked after playing multiple video clips of Cruz. "It was...

President Barack Obama on Thursday promised his most fervent supporters on Capitol Hill the "Democrats will win in November" and said it's going to take more than "phony tough talk and bluster" to defeat Islamic militants. Appearing before House Democrats at a retreat in Baltimore, Obama said the country is "doing a lot better" than when he took office, citing progress against Islamic State forces and curbing Iran's nuclear program - as well as lower gas prices, 18 million people gaining health insurance and 5 percent unemployment. In a not-so-veiled shot at GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump, Obama said the...

And the Word of Samuel Came to All Israel…(I Samuel 4:1)Thus begins the story of the capture of the ARK. The events which would follow, involve all ISRAEL for all time. The story of the capture and recovery of the Ark is the future history of Israel as well as valid salvation history. What we have related so far is that Israel suffered in their own land under foreign domination. Because of their unfaithfulness they were unable to fully dwell in the land, according to the terms of the covenant. Israel sought to throw off the foreign domination, but proved...

Roger Ailes had three brief conversations with Donald Trump today about possibly appearing at the debate – there were not multiple calls placed by Ailes to Trump. In the course of those conversations, we acknowledged his concerns about a satirical observation we made in order to quell the attacks on Megyn Kelly, and prevent her from being smeared any further. Furthermore, Trump offered to appear at the debate upon the condition that FOX News contribute $5 million to his charities. We explained that was not possible and we could not engage in a quid pro quo, nor could any money...

This is my commentary based on video. Salient points begin at 2:30 Jerry Falwell, Jr. just did the most amazing endorsement of Trump. A few points he made, but watch video for actual: 1. His dad got a lot of flack for endorsing a divorced Hollywood actor, Ronald Reagan. 2. He discussed how Liberty U. was failing financially years ago and they hired the best lawyers, accountants, etc....not based on their faith, but based on their expertise. They turned Liberty U. around and he said the US is very much like Liberty U., and Trump has a track record of...

Several European airlines aim to resume their flights to Iran following a landmark nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers, the state-owned IRAN daily reported on Thursday. The newspaper quoted Mohammad Khodakarami, deputy head of Iran's civil aviation authority, as saying British Airways officials visited Tehran on Tuesday to discuss resumption of flights. He did not elaborate. Khodakarami also said both Air France and Dutch flagship KLM have already expressed their readiness to resume flights to Tehran. ...

Louisville, Ky. (WDRB) -- Gov. Matt Bevin (R) claimed Thursday that Planned Parenthood is performing illegal and unlicensed abortions in Kentucky. He spoke to reporters and photographers during an unrelated event in Louisville. "I've always been a very strongly unapologetic pro-life individual," Bevin said. "To that end, that has not changed. What I tell you is interesting, and this is just breaking news even today, is that Planned Parenthood is illegally performing abortions in Kentucky." He went on to say, "It's that brazen disregard for the law that is going to be hammered down. There is no tolerance whatsoever for...

The Wounded Warrior Project is coming under fire after being accused of wasting donations meant for soldiers and their families. Videos highlight the plight of wounded veterans and ask Americans to donate generously. And generously they have. In 2014, Wounded Warrior Project received about $300 million in donations, but the organization is under criticism after former employees allege the charity spends lavishly on staff parties and travel. They allege the Wounded Warrior Project spent $26 million dollars on conferences and meetings in 2014 alone. "It's incredibly disturbing," Rep. Seth Moulton said. "I mean, we're talking about people who put their...
