"For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." 1 Timothy 2:5, NKJV Christ is the Mediator between God and men. A mediator is one who brings two parties together who have a disagreement. Our disagreement with God is sin. As sinners, we are in rebellion against the the word and will of God. God is holy. He cannot condone sin. Our sin must be punished by a holy God. OUR MEDIATOR AT THE CROSS In Scripture, we see Christ as our Mediator at the cross. Not only is God holy, but...

UPDATE 2-US Democrats claim Wall St. bailout breakthroughWed Sep 24, 2008 10:50pm EDT By Richard Cowan and Thomas Ferraro WASHINGTON, Sept 24 (Reuters) - Democratic Rep. Barney Frank said on Wednesday Democrats had reached an agreement to stem one of the worst U.S. financial disasters in decades, and that there would be enough votes to pass the measure and send it to President George W. Bush to sign into law. "We now have between House and Senate Democrats an agreement on what we think should be in the bill, and we have a meeting scheduled at 10 a.m. tomorrow to...

Why does the Elections Canada Web site deem it necessary to offer a feature that breaks down each riding's candidates by gender? (They throw in a couple stick figures, one wearing a skirt, one wearing pants, just in case we're truly confused.) For one thing, even the weakest-minded of us should be able to figure out for ourselves whether a candidate has two X chromosomes or not. First, there's the candidate's name as a clue. And if that's not good enough ("Lee"s and "Leslie"s can be confusing), we can conduct further investigation ... like doing a two-second Google search. Second,...

Answer to Berg's Complaint Due Today from Obama, DNC Obama and the DNC have until midnight tonight to serve an answer to Philip Berg's complaint, so keep checking here for updates throughout the day. The first one was really a conglomeration of ideas tossed around my head throughout the morning, hence the "9:00am to 1:00pm" label. Still, as things develop--or perhaps do not--there should be more to see. -- Jeff 5:30pm I just got off the phone with Phil Berg, and put in a few questions to the attorney who filed the motion. I'd really like to give the latter...

It isn't often that public outrage peaks so close to an election, but this is a rare moment in history when "we the people" can exact a price from the political leadership that has duped, scammed and lied to them, contributing mightily to the current financial mess. At the Senate Banking Committee hearings Tuesday, Democrats, led by Chairman Chris Dodd of Connecticut, seemed to think the mortgage crisis, aided and abetted by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, AIG, Bear Stearns, Lehman Brothers and other disasters, occurred on someone else's watch. Dodd, joined by ranking Republican Richard Shelby of Alabama, criticized...

One of Obama's Greatest Hits. He has said so many idiotic and disturbing things that it's hard to keep track of his Marxist lunacy. This will serve as a reminder. Perhaps, barry should start consuming massive quantities of Chinese milk and candy, that's one thing he could do to save this country.

On Paul and the Other Apostles "He Insists on Fidelity to What He Himself Has Received" VATICAN CITY, SEPT. 24, 2008 (Zenit.org).- Here is a translation of the address Benedict XVI delivered during today's general audience in St. Peter's Square. The Holy Father continued today the cycle of catecheses dedicated to the figure and thought of St. Paul. * * * Dear Brothers and Sisters, Today I would like to speak about the relationship between St. Paul and the apostles who preceded him in the following of Jesus. These relationships were always marked by profound respect and by the frankness...

Carbon tax to impact SarniaLIBERAL GREEN SHIFT KEY PLANK IN PARTY'S CAMPAIGN Posted By SHAWN JEFFORDS, THE OBSERVER Posted 17 hours ago Green shift or green shaft? That's what Sarnia-Lambton must decide as it ponders the Liberal Party's controversial carbon tax to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and the impact it would have on the Chemical Valley and consumers. Dean Edwardson, general manager of the industry-funded Sarnia-Lambton Environmental Association, said he's skeptical of Liberal leader Stephane Dion's "Green Shift" strategy. "Anytime you bring a new tax in there's an impact," Edwardson said. "It's difficult to determine what the impact will be...

Australia and New Zealand issued recalls Thursday for an imported Chinese candy that was found to contain the industrial chemical melamine. New Zealand Food Safety Authority spokesman Geoff Allen said Thursday morning that he expected the White Rabbit Creamy Candies to be off shelves within 24 hours. "This product contains sufficiently high levels of melamine which may, in some individuals, cause health problems such as kidney stones," deputy chief executive Sandra Daly said in a statement posted Wednesday on the agency's Web site. "The levels we have found in these products are unacceptable."

As someone who spends pretty much his entire life chasing, investigating, and writing about mysterious beasts and diabolical monsters, I have to admit that I have come across some extremely wild and far-out stories in my time – and that’s putting it mildly! But, the one strange creature that fascinates and intrigues me perhaps more than any other, is the aptly- and intriguingly-named Mongolian Death-Worm. Now you might very reasonably ask: what on Earth can be so deadly about a mere worm? Well, I’ll tell you. And it has absolutely nothing at all to do with the sort of worm...

EDMOND — When Benjamin Franklin was dispatched to France as ambassador of the United States in 1776, he won the hearts of the French through his authenticity. Rather than take on an affected and phony continental style, Franklin eschewed the powdered wig of the European gentleman and donned the fur cap of an American frontiersman. Original genius and polymath, Franklin understood that the French would see through any false pretension but respect an authenticity that sprang from an unpretentious and naive love of country. What a contrast there is between Franklin and Barack Obama. Obama is a Harvard lawyer who...

Bishop Eruptions, Part II and the Way Out Thursday, September 18, 2008 At the last tally, fourteen bishops raised their voices to correct and admonish Senator Joseph Biden's twisted notions of Church teaching about when human life begins. His "Meet the Press" statements drew the ire and fire of bishops across the country, not because they relish political skirmishes, but because the very teaching they are bound to protect was being distorted. One interesting aside: Sen. Biden made reference to the hallowed "Cuomo Doctrine"-- that tired notion used by politicians of all stripes which maintains that one can have...

Arizona State University economics professor says that bailout disgusts him, but warns of terrible aftermath if something isn't done. He actually compliments President Bush! But most importantly, he blames Congress for passing legislation that caused the subprime crisis and says that Congress must remove Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) or we will suffer yet another meltdown and bailout. Read between the lines - he is blaming Congressional Democrats. Look for featured video on right. He is guy that sort of looks like Jesse Ventura. http://www.azcentral.com/video/

Pentecostals number between 10-30 million in the United States depending on how you define the term and make up one quarter of all Christians worldwide. They are a subset of the larger evangelical movement that numbers about 102 million people in the United States. ABC News recently published this article on the type of churches Sarah Palin has attended at one time or anther. What Does Palin’s Faith Mean For US? As America gets a crash course in Sarah Palin, the question has been raised of how her two decades as a member of the Assemblies of God church in...
