I was driving into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1983 when Derek Daly was being interviewed by Larry Henry on WIBC and uttered the now-infamous “n….. in a woodpile,” description of himself as he assessed the makeup of his Wysard racing team. Of course it was shocking to hear on the biggest radio station in town, but even though I’d only met Daly a couple weeks earlier, I also knew from his delivery that he had no concept of what he’d just said. I found him in Gasoline Alley and told him he could not use that word in any...

On January 8, 2014, Complainant filed a formal complaint in which he alleged that the Agency subjected him to discrimination on the basis of race (African American) and in reprisal for prior EEO activity when, starting in the fall of 2013, a coworker (C1) repeatedly wore a cap to work with an insignia of the Gadsden Flag, which depicts a coiled rattlesnake and the phrase “Don’t Tread on Me.” Complainant stated that he found the cap to be racially offensive to African Americans because the flag was designed by Christopher Gadsden, a “slave trader & owner of slaves.” Complainant also...

A seemingly exasperated Donald Trump announced on Wednesday, "I'm so tired of this politically correct crap," telling a crowd of South Carolina business leaders that he's still the straight-talking, shoot-from-the-hip kind of guy that surged to the top of the polls this summer. The Republican presidential candidate is suffering a bit of a slump, due to some slippage in the polls, a lackluster debate performance, and another round of negative headlines due to his refusal to apologize for not correcting a questioner at a New Hampshire town hall who insisted President Obama is a Muslim and not an American.

News 12 reporter Sean Bergin has been suspended after he argued on the air that the “anti-cop mentality that has so contaminated America’s inner cities” is largely the result of “young black men growing up without fathers.”

Wouldn’t that be interesting. How would the Arizona Suns react if everyone decided to behave like illegal aliens — and demand everything from the Suns for free. Do the Suns enforce proper admission procedures at their basketball games? If so, then they are racists. They’re Nazis — according to what the illegal aliens and Leftists say. If the Suns are enforcing their admission policies, and are requiring people to complete paperwork, stand in line, wait their turn, and produce documentation allowing them entry into the stadium, then the Suns are racists…the Suns’ management are Nazis. How dare they refuse entry...

A town is being stripped of scores of public sector jobs because its residents are "too white and British". The Prison Service is relocating the posts to a nearby city where there are more ethnic minorities. The incredible decision, which could lead to an investigation by the Commission for Racial Equality, was disclosed yesterday in a leaked official letter. It is the first known case of its kind, but MPs warned similar moves could secretly be taking place across the country as civil servants are under enormous pressure from ministers to boost the number of ethnic minorities working in the...

NEEDHAM, Mass. -- Needham High School has abandoned its long-standing practice of publishing the names of students who make the honor roll in the local newspaper. Principal Paul Richards said a key reason for stopping the practice is its contribution to students' stress level in "This high expectations-high-achievement culture." The proposal to stop publishing the honor roll came from a parent. Richards took the issue before the school council, which approved it. Parents were notified of the decision last month. Richards said he received about 60 responses from both parents and students and the feedback has been evenly split for...

LOS ANGELES, CA – When Clif Bar & Co. was devising its new organic energy bar for kids in early 2004, product developers at the Berkeley, Calif.-based health food manufacturer turned to California Senate Bill 19 for direction. The “Z-Bar,” launched in June 2004, was fashioned to meet the 2001 state law’s recommended limits on calories from fat and sugar for snack food sold outside meals at schools. Clif Bar stamped an “SB19 compliant” logo on the bar’s wrapper and declared it the first snack to conform to the legislation, among the first state laws to address the childhood obesity...

ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Tag, you're out! Officials at an elementary school south of Boston have banned kids from playing tag, touch football and any other unsupervised chase game during recess for fear they'll get hurt and hold the school liable. Recess is "a time when accidents can happen," said Willett Elementary School Principal Gaylene Heppe, who approved the ban. While there is no districtwide ban on contact sports during recess, local rules have been cropping up. Several school administrators around Attleboro, a city of about 45,000 residents, took aim at dodgeball a few years ago, saying it was exclusionary and...

A boy aged 10 has been banned from his school dining hall because his packed lunch broke the government's healthy eating guidelines. The father of Ryan Stupples is protesting after his son was forced to eat in the headmaster's office at Lunsford primary school, Larkfield, Kent, because his lunch contained two snacks, instead of one. Ryan's lunch consisted of a sandwich, fruit, fromage frais, cake, mini cheese biscuits and a bottle of water. The cake and the biscuits broke the snack limit. They were discovered when a teacher checked his lunch box. Michael Stupples, 41, said: "What 10-year-old boy won't...

They told churchgoers they must think twice before they refer to God as 'He' or 'Lord' because of the dangers that it will lead to domestic abuse. See also... In a runoff that could decide who controls the Clayton County Commission for the next two years, District 4 candidate Lee Scott has tried to tie his white opponent to the Confederate flag. That opponent, Michael Edmondson, said the charge is ridiculous and said voters Tuesday will not be fooled by the tactic. A political flyer signed by Scott claims Edmondson walked under the Confederate flag at a recent parade in Jonesboro. While the flyer offers no photos of Edmondson with a Confederate flag, it did paste his face on top of the Confederate emblem. The flyer reads, “Confederate flags...

The Greater Victoria School District's "That's So Gay" campaign launch this May was just the beginning, promises school trustee Charley Beresford. "It's not a short-term campaign. It will be going on for some time," she says. Next month, the district's queer advisory committee will send packages out to school principals reminding them about the campaign and offering suggestions on how to make their schools friendlier for queer and questioning students come September. For Beresford, the campaign was a natural next step after her district introduced its groundbreaking anti-homophobia policy in 2004. "I felt like we were not getting far enough...

Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig today fined Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen an undisclosed amount and ordered him to attend sensitivity training for making offensive comments. Commissioner Selig said: "On Tuesday night, Ozzie Guillen used language that is offensive and completely unacceptable. SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Swimmers off the coast of La Jolla, California are being fined while swimming at public beaches. The reason: harassment of harbor seals that colonize the beach. Authorities are worried that actions that cause the seals to flee to the surf endanger the seal population, and that can generate fines up to $1000. "One of the common responses for seals and sea lions to stimulus that startles them is to run into the water, if you do that during the pupping season there's opportunities for trampling of pups, there's opportunities for separating mothers from young," said Jim...

Nearly a decade ago, just a few months after Microsoft shipped Windows 95, I asked Bill Gates if it was a conscious decision in the development of that product to give Windows more of a Mac look and feel. Of course I knew he'd say it wasn't, but I couldn't resist asking. "There was no goal even to compete with Macintosh," Gates proclaimed. "We don't even think of Macintosh as a competitor." That was a crock, so I pressed the issue a little. I asked him how he accounted for the widespread perception that Windows 95 looked a lot like...

By TIM MOLLOY, Associated Press Writer LOS ANGELES - A spokesman for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (news - web sites) said Sunday that the governor would not apologize for calling lawmakers "girlie men," despite criticisms from Democrats that the remark was sexist and homophobic. Schwarzenegger dished out the insult at a rally Saturday as he claimed Democrats were delaying the budget by catering to special interests. "If they don't have the guts to come up here in front of you and say, 'I don't want to represent you, I want to represent those special interests, the unions, the trial lawyers ......
