Dodge's future is suddenly a lot clearer and it includes electrification but not Hellcats. We sat down with Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis at the 2021 LA auto show, and he laid out some of what will happen at Dodge over the next two years. Regarding Hellcat models, Kuniski confirmed to Motor Authority "I will have this car, this platform, this powertrain as we know it through the end of '23. There's two more years to buy a Hellcat, then it's history."

The brand has announced a new business plan called Never Lift that combines new products and giveaways with a rebooted performance parts business. The project includes the hiring of a Chief Donut Maker who will be paid $150,000 for a year to drive a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and be an ambassador for the brand at select events scheduled around their day job. There's also a 25/8 promotion that's named to signal Dodge works harder than 24/7 and will have celebrities from the automotive, sports and entertainment worlds giving away dream cars through individual sweepstakes. All of it coincides with...

Dodge is experiencing the cliché “too much of a good thing,” and has stopped production of its 707 horsepower halo cars, the Challenger SRT Hellcat and Charger SRT Hellcat, to allow the Brampton, Ontario plant to catch up on existing orders. The official statement released by FCA U.S. says, “Due to unprecedented demand for the 2015 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcats, we are temporarily restricting orders while we validate current orders that are in the system." While there's been no official word from the automaker regarding when it will resume selling the SRTs, some reports say it could be...

Muscle cars are all about the numbers, and Dodge has just issued a triple-digit warning to the rest of the ponycar herd. Packing 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 “Hellcat” engine is the very stuff Saturday night legends are made of. But don’t take our word for it—watch Dodge brand boss Tim Kuniskis set the record straight in the exclusive video below. Installed in the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, this wild engine has the loftiest power figure of any V-8 engine in Chrysler history. To put it numerically, the Hellcat brings 45 more...

In the spring of 1941, the Navy was looking to replace its F4F "Wildcat" (also manufactured by Grumman) in light of new developments in the field of aeronautics, and the worsening military situation both in Asia and in Europe. On June 30, 1941 the Navy ordered the prototypes XF6F-1 and XF6F-2. They were to have the Wright R-2600-16 engine, producing 1,700 horsepower, on the -1 and a Wright 2800-16 fitted with a turbo-supercharger on the -2. Immediately after the first flight of the XF6F1 on June 26, 1942, the craft was mysteriously redesignated the "XF6F-3" and the engine was changed...

Some old-timers may remember it, and a few local history buffs jokingly refer to it as the Battle of Palmdale. But those who moved to the city as part of the post-1980 population boom may not realize Palmdale is one of few Southern California communities to have suffered through an air-launched rocket attack. Though inadvertent, the attack came in the summer of 1956 when U.S. Air Force fighters were scrambled to shoot down an out-of-control Navy drone that threatened to fall on Los Angeles. Instead of downing the drone, a pair of Air Force fighter-interceptors blasted holes in the desert...
