Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) on Friday pushed back on President Trump’s threat to target Chicago next in the Trump administration’s crackdown on crime following a sweeping takeover in the nation’s capital. “As Donald Trump attempts to create chaos that distracts from his problems, we’ll call it out for what it is,” Pritzker wrote in a lengthy thread on social platform X “Trump and Republicans are trying to distract from the pain they’re causing — from tariffs raising the prices of goods to stripping away healthcare and food from millions.”

If progressivism prevails, we may have to go without benefits of civilization that have been taken for granted for centuries. Stores are an example. From the moonbattery-addled Seattle area: Kroger announced its plans to permanently close two more grocery stores, one in Kent and one in Everett… The stores belong to Kroger’s Fred Meyer subsidiary. Kroger noted that the closures could affect approximately 360 workers from both stores. A Fred Meyer spokesperson explains why the closures were necessary: “Unfortunately, due to a steady rise in theft and a challenging regulatory environment that adds significant costs, we can no longer make...

For years, Washington, D.C.’s so-called leaders resigned themselves to the idea that crime was inevitable. Then came President Donald Trump, who saw a problem and took the novel approach of actually doing something about it — sending in the National Guard to restore order in the capital. The result? For the first time in ages, D.C. has gone seven straight days without a single homicide. According to Fox45, the capital has also seen carjackings decrease by 83%, “robberies by 46%, car thefts by 21%, and overall violent crime is down 22%.”Sgt. Betsy Smith of the National Police Association said Washington, D.C.’s...

Two of the seven suspects arrested in connection with the disgusting beating of two white people in downtown Cincinnati have been freed from jail. 24-year-old DeKyra Vernon and 25-year-old Aisha Devaughn were released on Friday. Both were (allegedly) active participants in the savage beating. Vernon is believed to be the woman in the viral video who punched the female victim, Holly, from behind, while Devaughn is believed to be the woman who stomped on the male victim’s head. This comes after a woke judge cut each suspect’s bond to $25,000, of which they only have to pay $2,500 upfront. Vernon’s...

LOS ANGELES — Downtown in the City of Angels is looking more and more like a ghost town. The famed Los Angeles neighborhood has become a shadow of its former glory — with rows of boarded up shops, chain stores leaving in droves and hoards of drug-using vagrants sparking major safety concerns for shoppers and business owners alike. The Post can reveal that there are more than 100 vacant storefronts in the area’s Historic Core, which was the rip-roaring heart of the downtown shopping and entertainment district. Democrats are furious and accusing the president of overreach. “This is dictator-level stuff,” Democrats on the House Oversight Committee posted on X. “Deploying the military on DC’s streets only creates fear and chaos. Donald Trump will be held accountable for this brazen power grab.” House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-K.Y.) plans to hold a hearing with Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser (D), Council Chairman Phil Mendelson (D) and D.C.’s Attorney General Brian Schwalb (D) in September to discuss Monday’s actions. In a Monday press conference, Bowser called Trump’s actions “unsettling and unprecedented.”

Despite President Donald Trump’s decision to federalize the Washington D.C. police force and deploy the National Guard to fight violent crime in the nation’s capital, he cannot deliver on his threat to do the same in Chicago, state and local officials said Monday. “If we need to, we’re going to do the same thing in Chicago, which is a disaster. We have a man there who’s totally incompetent. He’s an incompetent man,” Trump said, referring to Mayor Brandon Johnson. “And we have an incompetent governor there. Pritzker is an incompetent,” Trump added, referring to Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. And now...

President Donald Trump's decision to federalize the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) continues to cause mass consternation on the left. Despite the move being unquestionably allowed under the Home Rule Act of 1973, which deals with the nation's capital as a federal district, accusations of "fascism" and "democracy" being threatened have flowed like milk and honey. In other words, it's just another weekday. SEE: Trump Administration Takes Control of the District of ColumbiaHow did we get here? A series of high-profile murders and violent assaults caught the attention of the president. Instead of taking action immediately, the administration asked the...

President Donald Trump said his administration is going to look at deploying the U.S. military to other American cities, including Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, at a press conference where he announced that he was taking federal control of the police department in Washington, D.C., and deploying 800 National Guard troops there to crack down on crime. Speaking from the White House briefing room in an extended and rambling press conference while flanked by members of his Cabinet, Trump declared the move “Liberation Day in D.C.” and said he was seeking to “rescue our nation’s capital from crime, bloodshed,...

Audie Cornish must have the keenest hearing in the liberal media. Sure, many liberals claim to hear supposedly racist Republican dog whistles. But Cornish can detect a dog whistle before it's even pronounced! Call it a double-secret dog whistle on probation! On today's CNN This Morning, in a segment on President Trump's plan to clean up Washington, D.C. and clamp down on crime there, Cornish said: "So we're back to this language, right? The no-go zones, the like, this is the worst place in the entire world. Yeah, talking about juveniles. I'm like, people are one beat away from saying...

There probably isn't a bright red line or some official metric a city must measure up to — down to? — before being rated as Officially Ungovernable. But, if there is, surely Washington, D.C., crossed soon after the Martyrdom of St. George Floyd of Minneapolis. "This is a safe city, but overhearing and witnessing gang threats and then watching the camera footage of the thuggery is disturbing," one D.C. resident told the Washington Post on Sunday. But — and I'm not making this up, so I'll quote WaPo reporters Olivia George, John D. Harden, and Jenny Gathright precisely — the...

President Donald Trump announced Monday that he is activating National Guard troops and is taking over the Metropolitan Police Department to tackle crime in Washington, after beefing up federal law enforcement presence in the nation's capital Saturday. "I'm deploying the National Guard to help reestablish law, order and public safety in Washington, DC," Trump told reporters at a Monday press conference. "And they're going to be allowed to do their job properly." Trump also said that he would federalize the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington to respond to crime, placing it under the authority of Attorney General Pam Bondi. National...

Boston's raging drug problem has deepened after images surfaced of a man hunched over outside of the city's poshest mall. The unidentified man could be seen lurched over and using a phone outside of Copley Place in the Democratic-led city, in footage taken by a passer-by. It was shared to social media by a group of locals openly opposed to Democrat Mayor Michelle Wu as the latest example of the problems facing the Massachusetts city. 'Wow can't even shop in Mayor Wu's Boston without running into drug addicts,' the post said. 'This is in Boston's most luxurious mall too.' The...

President Donald Trump has ordered federal law enforcement to patrol Washington, D.C., for seven days starting at midnight on Friday, the White House announced. The move comes in response to a surge in violent crime in the overwhelmingly Democrat-run nation's capital. The deployment includes agencies like the U.S. Park Police, FBI, DEA, ATF, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).“Washington, DC is an amazing city, but it has been plagued by violent crime for far too long. President Trump has directed an increased presence of federal law enforcement to protect innocent citizens," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement."Starting...

As attention has turned to Washington, DC and crime in the district in the wake of a former DOGE employee being attacked, it has been revealed that a commander with the Metropolitan Police Department was placed on paid administrative leave in mid-May after being accused of falsifying crime data. Commander Michael Pulliam was placed on leave and under investigation for questionable changes to crime data, five law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation told NBC 4. Pulliam was the commander of the 3rd District, which patrols the Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights neighborhoods. [snip] The police union has accused Pulliam...

California’s leaders like to boast that our state is a sanctuary. And it is — a sanctuary for criminals. Since the so‑called sanctuary laws went into effect in 2018, tens of thousands of criminal illegal aliens have walked out of California jails instead of being transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Violent crime has jumped nearly 20% statewide. That’s not compassion. That’s not progress. That’s negligence. Every preventable crime committed by someone who should have been deported is proof of these policies’ failure. Even in deep‑blue Los Angeles, some officials admit the obvious: violent offenders should be deported. That’s just...

WASHINGTON — President Trump is planning to deploy federal law enforcement on the streets of the nation’s capital as early as Friday to crack down on violence committed by gangs of roaming “youths,” the White House confirmed to The Post. “DC residents can expect to see an increase in federal enforcement starting as early as tomorrow,” an administration official said Thursday, adding that operational details were still being finalized. The move comes after a well-known former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer, Edward Coristine — also known as “Big Balls” — was attacked by teenagers as he intervened to thwart...

Mayor Muriel Bowser has a go-to strategy when President Trump fires off a surprise D.C. takeover threat: sealed lips. Why it matters: After the alleged assault of an ex-DOGE staffer, Washingtonians might reasonably wonder if the city is one high-profile crime away from forfeiting its local democracy. What I'm hearing: Trump's missives to "FEDERALIZE" the District sound doomy, but Bowser isn't acting like the sky is falling. Bowser stuck to it after Trump said on Truth Social on Tuesday that "we will have no choice but to take Federal control of the City" if D.C. "doesn't get its act together."...
