A convicted child sex offender is now a fugitive after a California judge allowed him to remain free on $1 million bail following his conviction, a decision that prosecutors are now sharply criticizing after the man disappeared before sentencing.Carl Cacconie was convicted on July 17 at the South Lake Tahoe Courthouse of six felony sex crimes involving an 11-year-old girl.
Despite the verdict, Judge Michael McLaughlin, a registered Democrat, permitted him to leave court pending sentencing, which was set for Aug. 25. He never returned.

“To expect that a person on $1 million bond, who has now been convicted, that merely adding an ankle monitor, which can be easily cut off, adds any real assurance to bringing him back to court, it’s kind of folly,” Pierson told KCRA. “This is a county that prides itself on holding people accountable. And, unfortunately, that’s so far not what has happened.”

I’d say its open season
I’d say its open season
These judges and prosecutors that won’t do their job need to be charged with manslaughter if they release someone who then commits murder.
Aiding and abetting if rape or assault.
They are out of control.
“Only about 21.5% to 31% of sexual assaults are reported to the police.
Only about 11% to 12% of child sexual abuse cases are reported to authorities.
Approximately 80% of female college students do not report sexual assault to the police.”
-————Brennan Center For Justice.
And when the judges get a chance many don’t even enforce sentences on those few reported, tried in court and convicted. And some are paroled or convictions overturned and then they can go out looking for witnesses and the victims again.
The Brennan Center is a LEFT WING think tank. It’ll massage the date anyway it feels necessary to push their FEAR goals and FILL their pockets.
RE: ankle monitor....
I finally ran into the episode of Law and Order SVU (Season 5, Episode 3, “Mother”) where the detectives carefully trace the movements of the dangerous felon and then close in, finding that he had put his ankle monitor on a cat as a collar. 🐈
Judges have country club lives and enjoy top of the line restaurants and fabulous vacations.
Laws protect the judges from responsibility. And protects full rights of the criminals (Miranda, confessions kept from jurors....).
As to the victims——sorry, no rights.
That cat was dangerous!!
Confessions from jurors? What does that mean?
Judge Michael McLaughlin was stuck on stupid. He wasn’t dealing with your typical criminal here. He should’ve know better but he let his political bias regarding social justice cloud is judgement on the bench.
Guns don’t protect them. 😉
True. I give up.
My mentally ill, narcissistic alcoholic, man hating, abusive mother, after I left home, ended up living with 18 cats in her 2 bedroom house. No one could convince her not to. All went to a shelter after she died.
RE: Confessions from jurors? What does that mean?
I meant to write the guilty criminals make confessions that are recorded but are kept away from the jurors.
Happens a lot.
I won’t argue.
Would think that the bail bondsman was keep closer tabs on the actor due to the $1 million bond being at risk.
