"President Bush tells us we're making progress in Iraq, yet his own advisers say the situation is growing worse each day. He said we could secure the peace with less than 140,000 troops, yet with 90% of active duty troops deployed overseas, the mission remains" Also: "90% of active duty brigades deployed overseas" http://www.bushandthedraft.com/facts.html

Uncle Sam Will Soon Want Your Kids - By David H. Hackworth, DefenseWatch Senior Military Columnist Recently, when John Kerry brought up the possibility of a return to the draft, SecDef Donald Rumsfeld was quick to respond that Kerry was full of it. But my take is that Kerry is right on the mark. Not only because Rummy has been flat wrong on every major military call regarding Iraq, but because this is a war that won’t be won by smart weapons or the sledgehammer firepower we see every night on the tube. Right now – with both our regular...

CBS has done it again, and this is happening too much under the radar. I mean, some people know about this, and more and more people are learning about it, but I want to add an exclamation point to it. CBS News did a report recently, and I think it was late last week or early this week, this is already Thursday, so it probably was early this week. Dan Rather did it, in fact, quoting sources that there's a secret move to reinstate the draft after the election, that the Bush administration is working on it. And Rather's sources...

Last night I was channel surfing and I stopped on MTV. I could not believe what I saw. I'll try to recap it as best I can recall:They have a Choose or Lose commercial running showing a bunch of people in a party. A girl asks a guy something like does he plan to vote in the election. He says no, derisively. She says he should because of the draft! The announcer says that people should vote becuase issues like the draft will be decided by this election. I was stunned by what I saw! MTV is trying to scare...

The talk show host pointed out the proposal is in Congress....BUT, according to him, the only names on the bill are 1 - Democrats, 2 - Liberal 3 - The Obnoxious: Conyers, Stark, Jackson-Lee, McDermott, etc. No Republicans. Period.

Only two days after many liberals were convinced that democratic presidential John F. Kerry had a watershed moment with his rant against President George W. Bush and the war in Iraq, Kerry moved towards scare tactics in an attempt for votes. While Kerry was in Florida trying to scare both the young and old, two of the three of the Kerry's camp CBS Memo gang, Max Cleland and Howard Dean are touring colleges spreading the draft rumors.[snip] Are they really this desperate? Michelle Malkin and Betsy’s Page have a copy of an e-mail that is being sent to college students...

Elect George Bush, some Kerry surrogates said last week, and you or your children will be drafted to fight in Iraq. Inspiring fear in voters seems to be in political vogue this fall. (Cheney has since amended his comments to say he meant to argue that Bush has a more serious approach to deterring terrorists than does Kerry.)

I keep catching hell from folks who want to insist that a new draft is coming, and that the Bush Administration is engineering it so that "their rich kids" won't be caught up in it.Citizen Smash has done the legwork to find out exactly who is behind this push. But who is behind this movement to reinstate the draft? Let’s check the Congressional Record. In the House of Representatives:Charles Rangel, NYNeil Abercrombie, HICorrine Brown, FLDonna M. Christensen,VIWilliam Lacy Clay, MOJohn Conyers, Jr., MIElijah E. Cummings, MDAlcee L. Hastings, FLSheila Jackson-Lee, TXJohn Lewis, GAJim McDermott, WAJames P. Moran, VAEleanor Holmes Norton, DCFortney...
