Prominent farmworker activist and organizer Dolores Huerta joined several other speakers at a public meeting in Watsonville Saturday to raise awareness about the dangers of agricultural pesticide use on farmworkers, children, consumers and residents throughout Santa Cruz County. Childhood cancer rates in the county are more than 38% above the nationwide childhood cancer rate of 16.3%. A winter storm is forecasted to sweep across a 1,400-mile-long swath of the southern US starting Thursday, burying some states in up to a foot of snow. Walt Disney World is playing cat and mouse games at Disney's BoardWalk. Iron Chef Cat Cora is teaming with Mickey to develop a Greek Mediterranean restaurant called Kouzzina by Cat Cora. The restaurant will be owned and operated by Disney. The new eatery will replace Spoodles, which was also Mediterranean and had delicious food but never seemed to be able to earn a reputation among Disney diners. House Bill 1525, which is endorsed by Gov. Mike Huckabee, now goes to the AR Senate. This would allow the children of undocumented Arkansas residents(illegals) to be eligible for state-sponsored scholarship opportunities. It got a 63-31 vote. It appears that HB1525 will probably pass. If we cannot stop it, I have an idea of how we can lessen its damage. I am proposing this amendment to Jim Holt supporters and immigration reform people. I propose that either Jim Holt or Denny Altes make an amendment that would require the nations these illegals come from to co-pay %50 of the tuition...
