Earlier this week, I wrote an article about whether moms were killing their children more often lately, or if we're just seeing more of it in the news because the media is fixated on it due to the Lindsay Clancy case. Or, perhaps, it's just a big coincidence. My research was inconclusive, as there isn't a ton of recent information on this topic. Historic data shows there hasn't been an increase and that men are just as likely, or more likely in some cases, to commit filicide. But most of that information was pre-COVID-19 pandemic. I'd love to see a...

There has been a lot of quite legitimate worry that China has been planning to invade Taiwan in the next year or two, but according to recent intelligence assessments, the likelihood of that happening is diminishing. Good. First, it's important to recognize facts that often get blurred: Beijing has pursued a policy of developing capabilities on a timeline that would make an invasion in 2027 a realistic choice, but that never meant it planned to do so in 2027. It never established a timeline for invasion, but one for readiness. Look at Russia Ukraine. They cant even get food to...

Rebecca (“Becca”) Good, the partner of Renee Good, and Brent Ganger, the court-appointed trustee for Good’s next of kin, filed two lawsuits Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota arising from Good’s fatal encounter with federal immigration agents during Operation Metro Surge. One suit targets ICE agent Jonathan Ross and several senior Trump administration officials in their individual capacities; the other seeks to hold the United States liable under the Federal Tort Claims Act. As my RedState colleague Rusty Weiss reported back in January, the family and her partner had retained the services of Romanucci &...

The 5 percent barrier has long since been left behind. This week, the yield on 30-year American government bonds hit 5.6 percent, its highest level since way back in 2002, while the cost of ten-year borrowing rose to its highest level in 20 years. However hard the Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent tries to control it, the interest rate the American government has to pay to finance its vast deficit keeps on rising relentlessly. As it climbs towards 6 percent and perhaps even higher, surely we must soon see a change in the political debate. Three decades of financial complacency will...

"Be filled with the knowledge of [God's] will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord" (Col. 1:9-10). Godly behavior is the result of godly thinking. Perhaps you've heard computer buffs use the term G.I.G.O.: "Garbage In, Garbage Out." Input determines output. What you feed into a computer is what you'll get out. Similarly, what you program into your mind will eventually influence your behavior. That's why you must expose your mind to things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute, excellent, and worthy of praise (Phil....

One of the most important numbers in retirement could soon look very different on Social Security documents. Congress has passed legislation that would replace the familiar terminology surrounding Social Security claiming ages with language designed to make one thing much clearer: the age you start collecting can permanently change the size of your monthly check. The bipartisan Claiming Age Clarity Act cleared the Senate this week after previously passing the House and is now headed to President Donald Trump for his signature. The legislation does not change when Americans can claim Social Security or the formula used to calculate benefits. Instead, it...

The ultrawealthy aren’t just pulling away from average Americans. Buoyed by a stock-market boom that has added trillions of dollars to their net worth, the extremely rich are even pulling away from other rich Americans. The top 0.1% wealthiest Americans have seen their total wealth more than double since the end of 2019, according to new data from the Federal Reserve. The year the pandemic started was when the ultrawealthy began to pull away from other rich groups, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of Fed data. In dollar terms, the very richest Americans have gained a total of...

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Texas-based travel center Buc-ee’s and Ohio gas station chain Mickey’s have settled a trademark infringement lawsuit over the companies’ cartoon animal logos. On Sept. 15, Buc-ee’s and Coles IP Holdings, the parent company of Mickey’s, reached a confidential agreement during a settlement conference, according to court records. The settlement stems from a lawsuit Buc-ee’s filed in February, claiming Mickey’s cartoon moose logo is too similar to its own cartoon beaver logo. It is unclear whether Mickey’s will change its logo as part of the settlement. Neither Buc-ee’s nor Mickey’s immediately responded to a request for comment....

You don't have to work on Wall Street to care about Treasury yields. You don't have to own a farm to care about diesel prices. And you don't have to be shopping for a house to care about mortgage rates.Eventually, these numbers have a way of finding all of us.America is entering a period in which several economic warning signs are flashing at the same time. None of them, by itself, proves that a recession or financial crisis is around the corner. In fact, parts of the economy remain remarkably resilient. But taken together, they tell us something important: the financial...

American Revolution 2.0Have you already seen how far the country has been pulled off course? Are You Counting the Days Until the Election? A nation in decline does not correct itself by accident. What you are reading is the product of years of quiet work by people who refused to stay inside the stable of group-think: researchers, memers, prayer warriors, and ordinary citizens who left the old media matrix, compared notes, and kept a watch. Five hundred threads ago many of us were still alone, ranging from half-asleep to already on duty. Small enclaves formed, drops were read for clues,...

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ruled out a ceasefire on long-range strikes with Ukraine as Moscow steps up its campaign of aerial attacks on Kyiv. “We are told: ‘Let them stop striking your refineries, and you will stop striking their ships.’ It is simply ridiculous,” Putin said on Thursday at the Valdai political forum in Moscow. The remarks followed a meeting between United States President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in New York on September 22, when Zelenskyy said Kyiv was ready to cease strikes on Russian oil refineries and other energy facilities if Moscow also stopped its...

Virginia State University (VSU) is facing a federal lawsuit from two Christian student organizations that say the school stripped them of their official campus status and placed them under the direct authority of a university-appointed minister. "Higher education has really broke from its long-standing desire to promote intellectual diversity and to actually seek truth, and, instead, they are essentially telling students that any disagreement, that certain speech is violence and that hearing difference of opinions on important topics is actually not encouraged. It's actually discouraged," Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) Senior Counsel Tyson Langhofer told Fox News Digital.

Legislation to permanently ban the sale of Chinese vehicles in the United States stalled out on Wednesday as senators struggled to seal an agreement, virtually guaranteeing that the bill will have to wait until after the November elections. The bipartisan bill, sponsored by Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio and Democratic Sen. Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, aims to prevent China’s auto industry from gaining a foothold in the U.S. market. It would ban the import, manufacture and sale of internet-connected vehicles, software and hardware linked to China or other foreign adversaries, including Russia and North Korea. Chinese automakers are already...

Artificial intelligence companies will need to generate at least $4.2 trillion in new annual revenue by 2031 to financially support the industry’s massive infrastructure buildout, according to an analysis from Bain & Company. The AI industry would need roughly $6 trillion in annual revenue by 2031 to support projected spending on data centers, chips and computing infrastructure, according to Bain. Uses that can be identified today are projected to generate only about $1.2 trillion to $1.8 trillion annually, leaving at least $4.2 trillion that would have to come from new products, robotics, autonomous systems and other applications. The $6 trillion figure is...

US President Donald Trump said he regretted nominating three Supreme Court justices — Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh — who have opposed him in recent rulings, according to a Time Magazine interview. The Republican president was asked about his recent comments regarding the three conservative justices in the interview, which was conducted on Monday. "Do you regret nominating them?" the interviewer asked, referring to Trump's comments in a recent Truth Social post. "Yeah. Yeah," Trump responded, according to a transcript of the interview. "What can I do? I put them in. They voted against me too often....

Beloved Hawaii landmark Holei Sea Arch, a roughly 90-foot natural lava rock formation at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, has collapsed into the ocean after standing along Hawaii Island’s coast for centuries. President Trump on Thursday said “it’s possible” the Iran war could cost him the November midterm elections by risking Republican control of the House, Senate or both. “Well, it’s possible. It should help,” Trump told reporters outside the White House before heading to a campaign rally in the Choctaw Nation in Oklahoma. “Because Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. So when you say, ‘Is it OK for Iran to have a nuclear weapon?’ I would say 100 percent of the people say no, including worldwide. So, when you say it that way, it would help. If you don’t say...
