Trump says ‘it’s possible’ Iran war could cost him the midterms

President Trump on Thursday said “it’s possible” the Iran war could cost him the November midterm elections by risking Republican control of the House, Senate or both.

“Well, it’s possible. It should help,” Trump told reporters outside the White House before heading to a campaign rally in the Choctaw Nation in Oklahoma. “Because Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. So when you say, ‘Is it OK for Iran to have a nuclear weapon?’ I would say 100 percent of the people say no, including worldwide. So, when you say it that way, it would help. If you don’t say that, it could hurt.”

The president answered a question referring to comments his daughter-in-law Lara Trump made on the YouTube talk show “Harry Cole Saves the West,” where she said the conflict could cost the president the midterms and possibly his legacy.

“I think Donald Trump’s legacy has yet to be written and I think that, in a lot of ways, maybe –– I still say he’s going to go down in history as one of the greatest presidents –– if not, the greatest America has ever seen,” she said.

Lara Trump said Iran is “absolutely” holding out until the midterm elections, though Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has claimed he wants a deal before November.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard earlier this week urged Americans who oppose the president to politically hurt him in the midterms, suggesting it could lead to peace between the two countries.

President Trump also told reporters Thursday on the White House’s South Lawn that Iran “won’t exist any longer” unless it signs “a very fair deal.” It is the latest of multiple threats where he has threatened Iran’s existence, remarks that lawmakers alleged earlier this year could amount to threatening war crimes.

Trump has lost his edge. No longer in control. It will be his fault if gop does the midterms.

But his daughter-in-law thinks he’s better than Washington, so he’s got that going for him.

Instead of that well thought out rebuttal to bob’s post, mind telling me what you don’t agree with with bob’s post?

Trump didn’t lose his edge, imo.
However, the American voter is weary because the American voter tends to like quick answers.

If the American voter of today had been around in 1939, they would have given the war to Hitler because it was taking too long.

You haven’t listened to Trump’s speeches. You’re only reading headlines.

When you listen to his speeches in the past few weeks and months, you’ll see Trump is very relaxed and confident.

His sense of humor is better than it’s ever been.

You're forgetting about the effects of the Biden economy, but so will many voters.

However, the American voter is weary because the American voter tends to like quick answers.

During the Vietnam War it was said that the American people, especially young ones, were used to TV shows and movies with a decisive, efficient understandable ending after one episode or movie. Thus, they wanted to "end the war now" because it kept on too long.

After the MTV video era (and later video games with "Game Over") they were used to even faster endings. The Gulf War took too long by that standard.

Trump didn't set up the war to coincide with a victory in time for the first vacation days of Congress to start campaigning for the midterms.

“It will be his fault if gop does the midterms.”

The GOPe hasn’t done a damned thing for years except run up the debt by the $trillions, it will be no surprise if they get their clock cleaned.

What do you expect after a couple of generations TV watching with 30 sec sound bites and solutions to complex events in a hour or less?

The Iran “special combat operation” isn’t popular. Fuel prices are high. Trump said at the start it’d last four days, changed it a week later to “September” and here it is October and it’s still going. We’re going to be paying for this politically for years; there’s probably going to be senators like Talarico and Sherrod Brown for six years because of this war’s unpopularity.

The “nuclear weapons” argument is absurd on many levels.

North Korea has them.

China has them.

Russia has them.

Pakistan has them—yes a Muslim country.

Iran did not even have them—and we went to war with them.

Omg.

Of course you’d only post a snippet of what Trump actually said. How is that any different than what the duplicitous MSM does?

Trump is failing because the GOP is clueless.

The question should be asked over and over again what would it be like if Trump didn’t win?

How many more illegals would now be in the US? How many more illegals would we be paying for their housing, food, healthcare, education, etc.? We would go broke funding all these illegals. Are citizens okay with losing social security? Medicare? ETC.? We’ll lose the judicial branch of government if dems gain control again. They’ll stack the Supreme Court forever. We’ll be flying 3rd worlders and muzzies in from all over the world if dems win again.

We are being let down by the republicans. They seem to be making a pathetic effort to win the house and the senate.

President Trump is actually winning

In all arenas.

The GOP hates him so that’s a problem for the country

However, the cheating has been and will have been mediated

Dems can’t really win without it

This is the Hill. The “we’ll fight on the We-Hate-Trump-Hill until long after they’re in Black Knight “come back I’ll bite you” status.

The Five just had a postmortem on the midterms, too

I can’t.
