Beloved Hawaii landmark Holei Sea Arch, a roughly 90-foot natural lava rock formation at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, has collapsed into the ocean after standing along Hawaii Island’s coast for centuries. The arch collapsed on Sunday following a rough stretch of storms that have hit the Big Island over the past several weeks.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

A builder like President Trump, and any MAGA common sense person, could have, perhaps, saved this landmark.

Build a seawall to protect it. Yes, it would no longer be 100% "natural," but it would have survived.

Yes, yes, conditions might have not been optimal for the seawall, but where there is a will, there is a way. And if in the end you fail, well, at least you tried.

500 years is a pretty good run for a lava formation.

I watched a documentary last night about photographs of the Apollo landing sites done by a recent NASA telescope sent to the moon. When the Apollo 11 lunar lander took off from the surface of the moon Buzz Aldrin thought he saw the American flag that they planted there blown over by the rocket wash from the lunar lander. The NASA telescope fly-by documented the Apollo 11 flag lying on the ground. So it only lasted a short while standing up on the moon. Such is the nature of things.

Happens to the best of them.

Aruba had one right on the coast, too (silly place to put a natural bridge). It collapsed 21 years ago.

Hawaii doesn’t believe in sea walls or most preservation unless it was manmade by ancient ancestors. They pretty much let it all just decay and fall apart. You should see Waimanalo (Hawaiian homestead land). The roofs have caved in. The walls fell down. But those with enough Hawaiian blood live there for free. They would rather go to the beach, smile and cover their choices with “aloha”.

Sad state of affairs.

After Butler, one could say Trump is a fighter, not a lava.
