Some politically charged words become part of our common vocabulary almost overnight. âGlobalismâ is a timely example. Ten or fifteen years ago, calling someone a âglobalistâ didnât have much effect. Today, it is well understood as a pejorative that highlights someoneâs allegiance to international institutions over those created within a nation state. Although the term has been used in various academic circles for more than a century, it didnât become part of our common political parlance until anti-Establishment conservatives in the United States and Europe found it a useful taxonomic description of their ideological opponents. In hindsight, it is surprising...

The Senate Permanent Committee on Investigations exposed COVID-19 vaccine injuries long "masked" in government surveillance databases, allegedly at the behest of the Biden administration. Thanks to the Trump administration's drug regulators, the panel led by Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., has a new opportunity to investigate vaccine safety. Moderna announced late Wednesday that the Food and Drug Administration approved its mRNA flu vaccine, the first ever, despite the drugmaker purportedly refusing to test it against a placebo and its own research finding little benefit over a standard licensed flu shot and a worse safety profile. One pharmacologist called the results "not...

Yesterday, the President signed new Executive Orders expanding the definition of who is excluded from Birthright Citizenship. While there is an absolute likelihood that all those really smart attorneys and other people in the Executive branch came up with the updated policies independent of anything I floated here, in the blogosphere, and through indirect channels, I will take it as a win. Even if independently arrived at by others, the ideas floated here definitely appear to have been ground into the sausage making process of the new policies. Never underestimate the impact of Free Republic on national debates! -- Back...

"If I have the gift of prophecy . . . but do not have love, I am nothing" (1 Cor. 13:2). Love is an indispensable ingredient in the learning process. I have the privilege of spending time each week with hundreds of young people who attend The Master's College. As I observe their progress, I see the impact godly teachers have had on their lives, and I'm convinced that students learn best when they know their teachers genuinely care about them. Isn't that true in any relationship? Don't you respond more readily to those who love you and have your...

For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.â Matthew 16:24â25Todayâs Gospel begins with a triple command that forms the foundation of authentic Christian living: We must deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Jesus. Let us consider the implications of these commands. First, it is important to note that Jesus uses the word âmust.â This is more than an invitationâit is...

The maximalists wanted regime change, the minimalists wanted nothing, and the doubters see only waffling. Carafanoâs answer: the victor gets to define victory â and everywhere you look, the region is moving Trumpâs way. Iran War Turns into Trump Middle East Triumph: We are about to see the biggest reshaping of the Middle East since Moses led the Jews out of Egypt. Like the pharaoh, who missed every warning sign up to the parting of the Red Sea, the critics and questioners of Trumpâs tug-of-war with whatâs left of the Iran regime seem obtuse to the prophetic truth that the...

The legally troubled candidate is making unsubstantiated late-campaign claims against the likely GOP nominee. James Fishback has spent a significant amount of time in courtrooms during his run for Governor, but now he says, without proof, that likely Republican nominee Byron Donalds is the one who merits legal scrutiny. Donaldsâ camp says the allegations are âcompletely false.â âWe will not be distracted by this baseless and defamatory sideshow, and neither should you,â said spokesman Gates McGavick. And a law enforcement source called Florida Politics and said the allegations against Mills were âabsolutely false.â Fishback said a âgovernment whistleblowerâ presented evidence,...

After months of ignoring questions and concerns regarding James Talaricoâs romantic relationship with a former member of his Texas House staffer Brianna Menard, his campaign has finally confirmed that the pairâs relationship began while Menard worked in Talaricoâs office. The Talarico campaign had previously suggested that Menard, who had worked in Talaricoâs office from March 2020 until January 2023, did not begin a relationship with Talarico until leaving his office to work for Texas State Representative Salman Bhojani as his officeâs chief of staff. According to a statement from Bhojani, Talarico himself reached out to secure Menard a position in...

Abdul El-Sayed blasted his Michigan Senate race opponent Mike Rogers, labeling him a âcowardâ after the former congressman and other Republicans launched Islamophobic attacks against El-Sayed after his victory in Tuesdayâs Democratic primary. âMike Rogers should never see the inside of the U.S. Senate,â El-Sayed told MS NOWâs Jacob Soboroff on Wednesday, adding, âHis ideas are old, his perspective on politics is old â and heâs going to find that people donât want that perspective anymore. So, of course heâs going to do the same thing that MAGA always does, which is try to divide us.â El-Sayed, a physician, also...

The McKinney City Council unanimously voted to allow a proposed mosque expansion. The marathon meeting was packed, with people on both sides of the issue showing up to speak. The McKinney Islamic Association plans to now build a campus on Virginia Parkway that would include three buildings: a main sanctuary, a classroom, and a gym. The gym could have multiple uses. People who were opposed said they were concerned about traffic, parking, safety, and property value. Some residents flatly stated they are opposed because it is a Muslim establishment.
