Dozens of decomposing bodies were found Thursday at a Far South Side funeral home, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
A funeral was in progress when police, acting on a tip, showed up at South Chicago Chapel, 2939 E. 95th St., police said. Police had been told bodies at the South Deering funeral home were not being stored at or below 40 degrees, as required by state regulations, according to a police report obtained by the Sun-Times.
Officers were met by funeral director Clark Morgan, who accompanied them on a walk-through of the building, according to the police report. During the walk-through, they found 57 bodies in various areas of the funeral home. The bodies were not refrigerated, and were in various states of decomposition, according to the report.
At some point, officers left the building, and when they tried to go back inside, Morgan told officers that on the advice of his attorney, he wasn’t letting them back in without a warrant. After officers told Morgan they did not need a warrant to inspect the building during operating hours, he padlocked the door and left, according to the report. Officers then called the Chicago Fire Department to help gain entry to the building.
The business’ license was revoked Wednesday, according to the police report. It was initially unclear why police didn’t visit the funeral home until the next day.
The area around the home was blocked off by police Thursday night as some neighbors milled about. At least one person came to the scene because she wanted to ask police officers whether her mother’s remains had been found. The funeral was July 18, and the woman said the funeral home had dodged her calls Thursday.

Charge for a funeral, skip the enbalming process, hide the body and pocket the cash.

Seems this was known at least for a year that something was wrong... News reports from last year (2025) on the net... Why it is just unraveling is anyone’s guess, but I imagine is partly due to “privilage” of some folks.
Reminds me of the crematorium in Georgia years ago where they (democrat party bigwig, and yes Boo-boo) just tossed/buried the bodies in the woods around the place.
Bet those bodies got pretty bloated.
Then they explode…..

....this happens alot at black feneral homes.
I’ve heard this story before. Ten or fifteen years ago.
Hear this same story crop up somewhere just about every year - makes one wonder how many funeral homes actually do their jobs.
Funeral parlor can’t keep up with all the new “custommers” on the south side.
Rules? Laws? Procedures? Shee-yit. Dat be racist, yo.
You beat me to it, I immediately recalled that one in GA as well.
“Funeral parlor can’t keep up with all the new “custommers” on the south side.”
That’s why they started offering volume discounts. < /rimshot>
Ahhh yes, the rack’em stack’em crematory.
It would not be surprising if a person(s) connected to the funeral home or family related were collecting/stealing Medicaid, SNAP cards, HUD, etc. benefits like these people were still alive. Of course the local MSM won’t ask any questions.
Colorado had a similar case a couple of years ago. Not too far away from me. The owners are in prison.
I read it as Far Side too
😳
I’m guessing it’s Them Boo Boo.
“I’m guessing it’s Them Boo Boo.”
The only thing white on E 95th St is the stripe in the road.

Well, they’re dead after all. What are the bodies expected to do?
Or as Hillary would say, “at this point, what difference does it make? “
