WASHINGTON — The leaders of three Republican House committees threatened Monday to hold Democratic fundraising powerhouse ActBlue in contempt of Congress after the firm refused to turn over more than 400 documents, citing attorney-client privilege. A letter from House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil (R-Wis.), Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), and Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) gave ActBlue until Friday to provide the messages, including statements by two members of its legal team indicating the fundraiser was not being forthcoming about overseas donations that were illegally funneled to Democratic campaigns. “These documents reportedly contain evidence that ActBlue accepted...

A Texas judge who was disciplined for declining to officiate same-sex weddings because of her religious beliefs has secured a legal victory, receiving a $10,000 settlement and more than $630,000 in attorneys' fees as similar litigation involving judges across the state continues. First Liberty Institute announced Friday that a Travis County district court awarded the settlement to Judge Dianne Hensley, a Waco-based judge, who was sanctioned by the Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct after declining to perform same-sex weddings. The court's ruling, issued June 16, not only awarded Hensley the maximum compensatory damages allowed under the Texas Religious Freedom Restoration...

A fugitive accused of helping mastermind a $3.7 billion Medicare fraud scheme — one of the largest in U.S. history — is in American custody after authorities tracked him down in Turkey and flew him back to the U.S. to face charges, the FBI announced Monday. Ibrahim Khaldoon Hilmi was recently detained by Turkish authorities after he fled the U.S. in May 2025, the FBI said. The FBI's Critical Incident Response Group flew out to Turkey and transported Hilmi to the U.S. on Friday through a foreign transfer of custody operation. FBI Director Kash Patel hailed the operation as a...

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The algae from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool surged ahead of former Vice President Kamala Harris in polls for the Democratic Party's 2028 presidential nomination. The news came over the weekend after many Democrats expressed approval of the green sludge covering much of the newly renovated reflecting pond in front of the national monument. Many said they thought the ooze adequately reflected their values and political objectives over other potential candidates like Harris. "I like that stuff," Democratic voter Kelsey Waters said. "I'd vote for it in a heartbeat. It knows how to stand up to Republicans,...

California Democrats have gone full crazy. Never go full crazy. Most residents of the state are Democrats because sane people have fled to red states, or are trying to figure out how they can flee and how soon. It’s often said California leads the nation in bold, new trends, and they’re certainly ahead in Democrat lunacy. Assembly Bill 1967 is moving through the California Legislature. It would allow children of any age to initiate state dependency proceedings against their own parents. Divorce their parents.

Explanation: Is this what will become of our Sun? Quite possibly. The first hint of our Sun's future was discovered inadvertently in 1764. At that time, Charles Messier was compiling a list of diffuse objects not to be confused with comets. The 27th object on Messier's list, now known as M27 or the Dumbbell Nebula, is a planetary nebula, one of the brightest planetary nebulas on the sky and visible with binoculars toward the constellation of the Fox (Vulpecula). It takes light about 1000 years to reach us from M27, featured here in colors enhanced by red for hydrogen and...

The Supreme Court on Monday reinstated a murder conviction in the 1979 disappearance of 6-year-old Etan Patz, whose case shocked New York City and changed the way parents watched over their kids. The justices, by a 6-3 vote, granted an appeal from New York prosecutors who had urged them to undo a federal appeals court decision that overturned the verdict. The three liberal justices dissented. Prosecutors had been preparing to try the man, Pedro Hernandez, for a third time. His first trial ended in a mistrial. The unanimous panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit reversed...

Here we go again. For years, I’ve used keyboard macros. I set one up in February so that when I press +K, it magically types out “Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.” That macro didn’t last long, though, because he’s well… dead. I need one that types out “On [insert date here], a federal judge threw out [or issued a temporary injunction on] Trump's xxyy policy.” In Monday’s edition, U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz, a George W. Bush appointee, tossed Justice Department grand jury subpoenas for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, state Attorney General Keith Ellison, and some of their associates. The...

A federal judge on Monday quashed grand jury subpoenas issued to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and other Minnesota officials. US District Judge Patrick Schiltz, a George W. Bush appointee said the subpoenas were retaliatory. The Justice Department in January issued subpoenas to Governor Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, Attorney General Keith Ellison, and other far-left Minnesota officials. The DOJ previously launched a criminal investigation into Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and far-left Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey for interfering with ICE operations. According to CBS News, the investigation centered around public statements made by Walz and Frey....

LONDON — In a stunning fall from power, one of the world's foremost Muslim leaders was forced to resign as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Keir Starmer, a preeminent voice for Islam on the world stage over the past several years, announced his resignation this morning after losing the support of several powerful mosques. "It is time for someone else to lead the intifada," said Starmer, standing outside the Prime Minister's residence at 10 Downing Street. "I have had the great privilege these past few years of heading up the Muslim takeover of England, glory to Allah. You know,...

The sheer amount of roughly one million illegal migrants in Spain seeking amnesty could lead to a “collapse” of the nation’s basic services such as housing, education, or security, experts warned. Spain is presently in the final weeks of a widely-criticized mass amnesty process launched by the government of socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez that aims to grant half a million illegal migrants with “legal” residence status, work permits, and other benefits. Despite the initial “half a million” estimates stated by Spanish officials in January, officials recently acknowledged that over 900,000 amnesty requests had been submitted by migrants, confirming estimates...

Detail from a portrait of an elderly Thomas Jefferson as painted by Thomas Sulley, 1821. In a previous post, I examined some of the speculation about George Washington's death, and the curious legend that he had died having confessed himself to a Catholic priest. That has gone on to be the most popular post on this blog, garnering over 15,000 views to date. In the case of death of Thomas Jefferson, there is considerably less cause for speculation. For one thing, Jefferson had been a Unitarian/Deist from his youth, and a consistent critic of Catholic beliefs and practices well into...

Carbon nanotubes, essentially sheets of carbon atoms rolled into microscopic tubes, are exceptional light absorbers. The problem is that they are notoriously difficult to keep evenly distributed in a liquid coating mixture; they tend to clump, separate, and settle over time. To solve this, the team used a high-energy milling process to grind the carbon black and carbon nanotubes together in water along with dispersing agents. An accelerated stability test put the mixture through centrifuge forces more than 2,000 times the pull of gravity over seven hours, with only minimal separation, a strong indicator of shelf-stable industrial viability. Because carbon...
