Alabama has executed a man who dropped his appeal and asked to be put to death for murdering five people in their beds. Derrick Dearman, 36, admitted to killing five members of his estranged girlfriend's family with an axe and gun during a drug-fueled rampage August 20, 2016. He was pronounced dead at 6.14pm on Thursday at Holman Prison in southern Alabama, his last words a plea for forgiveness. 'Forgive me. This is not for me. This is for you... I've taken so much,' he said while strapped to the gurney in the execution chamber. He closed by telling his...

“What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? May it never be! Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?” (Romans 6:15-16). Freedom from sin does not mean freedom to sin. From Paul’s day until now, the gospel of grace has been accused of providing license to sin. If salvation is the gift of God’s grace, legalists argue, wholly apart from human works, what will motivate...

CBS News has been accused of "significant and intentional news distortion" in a formal complaint the Center for American Rights filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on Wednesday. CBS News has taken heat in recent days for airing two different answers to the same question in its "60 Minutes" interview last week with Vice President Kamala Harris. Harris was mocked by conservatives when footage of her offering a lengthy "word salad" was aired by CBS' "Face the Nation" to promote the "60 Minutes" sit-down, when Bill Whitaker asked why it seemed like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wasn’t listening...

A Russian man’s use of bear spray with a polar bear makes an amusing story with serious lessons. The incident was recorded by Anatoly Kochnev in 1993. It was uncovered as part of the Polar Bear-Human Information Management System database (PBHIMS) with a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by AmmoLand. Further investigation revealed the live-journal blog where the original account was recorded. Attempting to use bear spray to discourage a persistent young male polar bear had unpleasant results for the people involved. No one was seriously injured. The incident happened on Wrangel Island on September 4, 1993. A computer translator from...

Former President Bill Clinton busted out a bizarre and confusing impression of Donald Trump Thursday, during which he suggested that the GOP nominee might send him to “supermax” prison for life. Clinton, 78, made no real attempt at capturing Trump’s distinctive voice or mannerisms when he spoke as the 45th president during a North Carolina rally with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz – with the intention of conveying that he might be considered by Trump to be “the danger within.” “When you sign up, the oath says you promise to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and...

A major study led by University of Otago researchers has found that genetics play a significant role in gout, challenging the myth that lifestyle is the primary cause. The findings highlight the genetic basis of gout and may lead to better treatments, with the potential repurposing of existing immune-related drugs. New research has found that genetics, not lifestyle, is the primary cause of gout. The study identified key genes and immune pathways, opening the door to improved treatments and challenging the stigma that links gout to poor lifestyle choices. A major international study has revealed that gout is primarily a...

She’s wildly, catastrophically, incontestably out of her depth. Kamala Harris is an idiot. Since she replaced Joe Biden on the ticket, reporters have struggled mightily to find kind ways of describing Harris’s ineluctable inability to convey anything comprehensible, complex, or concrete. Harris, the New York Times has variously proposed, has been “strategically vague,” “light on detail,” and “careful.” Alternatively, she has “put her own stamp on the art of the dodge”; learned to respond “to unpleasant questions without answering them”; and shown an ability to “avoid delineating her stance on some issues.” And yet, if one were to search for...

During an interview aired on Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “11th Hour,” Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen stated that people are unhappy with their personal finances because “the cost of living is very high.” But that’s been the case “for a long time. But the inflation that we saw after the pandemic really exacerbated it for so many people.” Host Stephanie Ruhle asked, “By most major measures, the economy is doing very well. Yet, most people in America, many people in America still don’t feel good about their personal finances. What do we do about that, how do we solve for it?”

The purpose of constantly invoking the specter of a dictatorship under Trump is to condition Democrats to react violently if Harris loses. By now it’s commonplace to note that Kamala Harris often seems out of her depth, like she’s unsure what to say about policy, or how to explain her past positions, or why she hasn’t already done the things she’s promised to do if she’s elected given that she’s the current vice president. But on one particular subject she’s been consistent and forceful throughout her campaign. She’s adamant that Donald Trump will destroy America if he’s reelected. And not...

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Americans continue to register record-low trust in the mass media, with 31% expressing a “great deal” or “fair amount” of confidence in the media to report the news “fully, accurately and fairly,” similar to last year’s 32%. Another 33% of Americans express “not very much” confidence.

The power generation sector is looking at numerous ways to provide enough electricity to satisfy demand from data centers. Bloomberg Intelligence research shows data centers, buildings filled with servers and other computing equipment for data storage and networking that supports operations and artificial intelligence, could be responsible for as much as 17% of all U.S. electricity consumption by 2030. The U.S. Dept. of Energy has said one data center can require 50 times the electricity of a typical office building. Several technology groups are looking at nuclear power, including the use of small modular reactors, to meet their electricity needs....

Israel claims to have killed the Hamas leader in Gaza during an ‘operation’. Israel claims to have killed Hamas’s political and military leader Yahya Sinwar in Gaza. Hamas has yet to confirm the claim. The Israeli military said on Thursday that Sinwar had been positively identified after he was killed the day before. Commentators spoke about Sinwar and what he means to the Palestinian resistance movement. Iran’s mission to the United Nations spoke of Sinwar as a “martyr”. Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud spoke from Gaza about how Palestinians were viewing the reported incident. “The way it’s been perceived, even by...

Former Florida House District 23 progressive Rep. Richard Rowe Jr., who boasted about getting vaccinated while wishing death on those who refused the shots, has died unexpectedly. In 2021, “Rowe hatefully wrote in a Facebook post: “Let me be real clear … I do not give a **** what happens to anti-vaxxers. I don’t.” “Let Darwin do his work. They helped to kill 700,000 Americans. I do not have the pity or tears to spare for any of them. It’s all dried up now.”

Democrats, still hurting after two losses in which their candidates won the popular vote but not the Presidency, have been making noise about eliminating the Electoral College (EC). Recently Tim Walz came out in favor of eliminating the EC, but he was quickly cautioned to not say the quiet part out loud again. Many believe this to be sour grapes, another ploy to obtain the real desire; a one-party Democrat nation. Short of actual takeover by a foreign nation, or a nuclear holocaust, there is nothing that would be more damaging to our nation. There exists a constitutional alternative worth...

Transcript of a very important FACT CHECK. I have not seen this DoD change come up here on FR yet, although several other sites have been talking about it. While her answer here we all know is 'projection' there is a dangerous reality afoot. 52:21 It gets more. He's the one who talks about an enemy with in with in an enemy with in talking about the American people. Notice that the pitch of her voice is changing. It is is is higher. He committed a fowl. A hunter in the Canadian Arctic ruffled the feathers of a group of student “goose detectives” after he killed and ate one of the birds the youngsters were tracking from more than 3,500 miles away. Devon Manik, an Inuit hunter, made a meal of the goose after shooting it dead, unaware that students in Dungarvan, Ireland had tagged about 100 brent geese for a school project to monitor the species’ flight path as it migrated between Ireland and the polar region, according to The Irish Times. Manik said the waterfowl trek to the area in June...
