People often ask if the Fed is political, and therefore predisposed to lowering interest rates before the election. The Labor Department and Bureau of Labor Statistics deserves equal questioning. Their job growth statistics are untrustworthy, to put it politely. They are almost always revised downwards after Biden had a chance to gloat. A Labor Department report encompassing annual benchmark revisions to the nonfarm payroll numbers was released on August 8, 2024, covering the period of April 2023 through March, 2024. It showed actual non-farm job growth was nearly 30% lower than previously reported. On October 4, just an hour ago...

The arrest reportedly occured when Jaar arrived to file a complaint against a Palestinian officer, alleging that the officer assaulted him following Israel’s airstrike on Tulkarm. Laith Jaar, a West Bank correspondent for the Qatari state-owned media giant Al Jazeera, was arrested and allegedly beaten by Palestinian Authority security forces this week, according to Arab media reports. The arrest reportedly occured when Jaar arrived to file a complaint against a Palestinian officer, alleging that the officer assaulted him following Israel’s airstrike on Tulkarm, which resulted in the deaths of 18 people, including a Hamas commander in the city. According to...

Democrats' dilatory behavior could be viewed as a bid to create a political advantage and may even win them the crucial swing state in November. SNIP More than a week after Hurricane Helene’s devastating strike, the Biden administration continues boasting of its so-called response with press releases and empty rhetoric, while millions of North Carolinians remain stranded — homeless, powerless, and without access to necessities like food and water. Tonight, I received a heart-wrenching text from a friend in Haywood County: “The government is worthless that we have right now. If I could say one good thing, I would. God...

Government makes many promises, the Biden Administration more than most. Results are another story. For the latest example of the latter, consider the “internet for all” plan that President Biden tapped Kamala Harris to lead. Fiasco is the word for it. The 2021 infrastructure law included $42.5 billion for states to expand broadband to “unserved,” mostly rural, communities. Three years later, ground hasn’t been broken on a single project. The Administration recently said construction won’t start until next year at the earliest, meaning many projects won’t be up and running until the end of the decade. Blame the Administration’s political...

The International Longshoremen’s Association has delayed the dockworkers’ strike to January, but the ILA is still clearly committed to fighting the future, demanding an end to all new automation at East and Gulf Coast ports. Why are so many Dem constituencies like this? A dock strike could choke off our economic recovery, already hobbled and delayed by disastrous Biden-Harris economic policies. Recent analysis suggests the strike might inflict as much as $5 billion in economic harm per day. Why on earth do that just to fight against tech advancement? **SNIP** Even though it’s clearly an effort by the ILA chief,...

If Protestantism owes its very existence to Luther’s conviction that the papacy was the antichrist, it might be instructive to inquire how he came to this conclusion. He did, in fact, come to this view slowly and reluctantly, driven by historical circumstances and theological reflection. It is important to focus primarily on Luther because it was his views on the subject that triggered the Protestant Reformation. It should be noted, however, that he was far from the first person to hold this view. He himself credited John Huss with being the first to call the Pope an antichrist.1Huss did indeed...

Kamala Harris's presidential campaign is facing a historic problem, a CNN election guru said Friday, pointing out how few voters think the U.S. is on the right track under her leadership. The surprising admission came during a segment where CNN journalist Harry Enten showed host John Berman a recent survey that found only a small portion of respondents believe the U.S. is on the right track. 'If we look at whether voters believe we're on the right track or the wrong track, I think that this sort of gets at a problem for Kamala Harris's campaign,' Enten said. 'Just 28...

CNN host Scott Jennings believes President Joe Biden is attempting to sabotage Democratic nominee Kamala Harris' campaign after calling her 'a major player' . The Kentucky-born political strategist took to X to share the wild theory hours after Biden's surprise appearance in the press briefing room on Friday. Eagle-eyed viewers noticed that the President was very insistent about Harris being a full participant in everything their cabinet were doing.

Wisconsin Democrats are terrified a radical outsider will catapult Donald Trump into the White House. The swing state party members fear Green Party candidate Jill Stein will steal votes from them and hamper Kamala Harris' chances of election victory. The far-left Stein is often considered a spoiler candidate who swung votes away from Hillary Clinton 2016. She is back on the ballot in 2024 and determined to make a statement.

Climate change activists pretended to drown themselves in oil and gas in a nightmarish protest outside a United Nations agency in London on Friday, gory photos of the stunt show. The Ocean Rebellion campaigners staged the frightening demonstration on the steps of the International Maritime Organization — the UN agency responsible for regulating maritime transport. Footage showed one activist, dressed as an “ocean goddess,” donning a fish bowl over her head as another poured in fake black oil to make it appear as if she was drowning. The woman could be seen screaming as the liquid engulfed her face before...

Workplace summit says it will 'harness,' 'grow' the 'light' of LGBTQ community The United States Secret Service, which has been the subject of heated scrutiny after two assassination attempts against former President Trump that many believe were avoidable, is now facing even more heat as it prepares to send employees to an LGBTQ-focused event at Florida’s Walt Disney World. The Secret Service is expected to send staff to Disney World on Oct. 7-10 as part of the Out and Equal Workplace Summit that includes breakout sessions, a gala and various events aimed at promoting LGBTQ diversity in the workplace. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz definitely doesn’t need another scandal a month before Election Day, but he’s getting one anyway. While Walz had enough to deal with after his mediocre vice-presidential debate performance opposite Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance on Tuesday, CNN is putting more on his plate by reaching back into his handling of his state’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. On Friday, CNN published a story about fraud under Walz’s governorship as the misappropriation of state funds led to what the Department of Justice called “the single largest COVID-19 fraud scheme in the nation.” Feeding Our Future — a program...

Children with primary nocturnal enuresis may have vitamin D insufficiency and deficiency as well as vitamin B12 deficiency, according to a study published. Hoda Atef Abdelsattar Ibrahim and colleagues examined the prevalence of vitamin D and vitamin B12 deficiencies in enuretic children. The analysis included 288 children seen at an outpatient clinic for nocturnal enuresis. The researchers found that vitamin D insufficiency predominated (48.3%), while vitamin D deficiency was present in 31.3%. Vitamin B12 deficiency was seen in 25% of children. There was a stronger inverse correlation between vitamin D and the number of enuresis episodes per day than vitamin...

A study has identified critical biomarkers that can predict disability worsening in multiple sclerosis (MS). The breakthrough research has the potential to transform treatment. Dr. Enric Monreal found elevated serum neurofilament light chain (sNfL) levels—a protein indicating nerve cell damage—at the onset of MS can predict both relapse-associated worsening (RAW) and progression independent of relapse activity (PIRA). Additionally, serum glial fibrillary acidic protein (sGFAP) levels—a protein derived from astrocytes that enters the bloodstream when the central nervous system (CNS) is injured or inflamed—correlate with PIRA in patients with low levels of sNfL. Using the Single Molecule Array (SIMOA) technique, researchers...

Interviews from Riz Khan Show This week’s Riz Khan Show starts with Afghanistan, which recently marked three years under Taliban rule after the US and its Western allies pulled troops out of the country as the Afghan government’s army crumbled. It was a chaotic departure which sparked desperate scenes at Kabul airport as thousands of Afghans fled what they feared would be persecution by the Taliban. Millions more joined the exodus abroad, while a further 3 million people remain displaced internally. Most of these are women. Well, despite initial promises of fair treatment by the Taliban rulers, the erosion of...

A compound found in African wormwood—a plant used medicinally for thousands of years to treat many types of illness—could be effective against tuberculosis, according to a study. The team found that the chemical compound, an O-methylflavone, can kill the mycobacteria that causes tuberculosis in both its active state and its slower, hypoxic state, which the mycobacteria enters when it is stressed. Bacteria in this state are much harder to destroy and make infections more difficult to clear, according to Joshua Kellogg. While effective therapies exist for TB, the researchers said there are several factors that make the disease difficult to...
