Why do ‘progressives’ like the dockworkers, climate weirdos and California leftists all hate the future?

The International Longshoremen’s Association has delayed the dockworkers’ strike to January, but the ILA is still clearly committed to fighting the future, demanding an end to all new automation at East and Gulf Coast ports.

Why are so many Dem constituencies like this?

A dock strike could choke off our economic recovery, already hobbled and delayed by disastrous Biden-Harris economic policies.

Recent analysis suggests the strike might inflict as much as $5 billion in economic harm per day.

Why on earth do that just to fight against tech advancement?

**SNIP**

Even though it’s clearly an effort by the ILA chief, a gold-bedizened, tough-talking McMansion dweller named Harold Daggett (who earned more than $900,000 last year) to help Joe and Kam.

But the automation he hates is now standard practice among the most advanced major ports around the world.

Adopting it would drive down costs and help keep America competitive.

Did you see Daggett’s rant against E-ZPass for destroying union jobs?

All industries have to adapt.

Like those that supply the extremely cheap and abundant consumer goods and power the longshoremen enjoy.

But it is interesting how yet another favored Dem constituency seems to thrive only when holding back technological innovation.

Look at nuclear power.

It’s the future they are creating.

It would be like the horse and buggy lobby fighting the automobile.

Unfortunately, they are self-loathing. Their lives are miserable because of this. They want everyone else to pay in one way or another for their self-loathing lunacy. Pox upon them.

In many ways, I hate the future, too, when it comes to privacy issues in technology.

But their mindset is childish and nonsensical. It would be like me telling my boss to take that computer and shove it; I’m keeping my Selectric and want a 3-part carbon sets. That’s not helpful to anyone.

It seems that when technology takes jobs from people, other jobs are created. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but it seems that way. They’d be smarter if they were striking to have illegals shipped home, as their existence in the USA is more dangerous to their job security than automation is.

One of the Fox Business guys was standing in front of a large group of ILA strikers, and asked for a show of hands for those who are voting for kaMAla. Not one person raised his hand. I was a little surprised.

The editorial is correct, but it makes no sense to lump a labor union in with the other Democrat imbeciles. Like it or not, the purpose of a labor union is to protect the interests of its members — even if it means doing things that stand in the way of “progress.”

That’s why the current ILA contract with the East/Gulf Coast ports has specific terms that prevent port terminals from implementing certain types of new technologies. And I would point out that one of the trigger points of the short strike was that the ILA has a formal complaint against one of the Gulf Coast ports for violating those terms.

Hmmm, just the California leftists, eh? Well thank goodness none of the leftists in the other states hate the future. Of course they don’t really hate the future they just hate a future where they don’t control peoples lives.

Right. The question is wrong. They do not hate the future. They simply hate the idea that you and your kids will be alive there. Their goal is your elimination.

If Dockworkers were driving themselves in a bus they would do so by flooring the gas pedal while watching the hood ornament.

Climate weirdos etc. have been brainwashed and live in terror of chimeras created by those they depend upon.

The Democrats gleefully shut down jobs in the energy and manufacturing industries whenever they could. No sympathy whatever for the harsh impact on people’s lives and small town economies. But bring the future to port operations? Don’t even THINK about such a thing. It’s blasphemy! How dare you! You heartless beast!

I am neutral when it comes to the dockworkers.

These are hardworking average joes that do what can be dangerous work. Of the 45,000 who are part of the union, 6,600 (14%) were injured and 90 were killed on the job in 2023.

Compare that to the injury and mortality rate of fireman. Of the estimated 1.2 M firemen in US, 65,000 were injured (5%) and 89 were killed in 2023.

The average dock worker makes $53K. Yes, certain areas make more based on skills and length of service. They can also make more with shift differences and picking up extra shifts.

They are out there in all kinds of weather, in crazy conditions. I have no problem with them demanding more.

If salary is commensurate with their importance to the workforce, they just proved how important they are by threatening to strike.

They certainly are far more important than some OF girl or Tik Tok influencer or middle manager making six figures plus while sitting in a comfy office somewhere.

Just my 2 cents.

Even if the cheating doesn’t work and Trump wins, the dems will make a phone call and the unions will strike to shut down the economy which their press will say is Trump’s fault. They have a deck of aces in their sleeves.
