To say I was not a fan of Jimmy Carter would be an understatement, but today he turns 100. In comparison to Biden and the progressive death grip on today’s Democratic Party, he looks a whole lot better in retrospect. Cy Vance, Harold Brown, and Zbigniew Brzezinski were head and shoulders above Biden’s senior foreign and defense policy appointees Blinken, Austin, and Sullivan. It is possible to speak well of some of Carter’s deeds (as Phil Gramm does today in the Wall Street Journal), such as deregulating or partially deregulating transportation and other basic sectors of the economy. Here’s a chart...

President Biden was fed a series of gentle softballs over the weekend by Robert Costa of CBS News. He mumbled through his responses in what felt like an exit interview. After his debate debacle at the end of June, Biden publicly and privately stated that he was staying in the presidential race. It would take the “Lord Almighty” telling him to step aside for him to go, he told George Stephanopoulos. He held a press conference on July 11 that seemed to assuage concerns by some in his party. And then, 10 days later, he dropped out, in a letter...

France has in many ways become accustomed to the savagery that has swept the country in the last decade. But the murder of a 19-year-old female student last month may prove a turning point. The young woman, named only as Philippine, was a student in Paris, described by her peers and her lecturers as clever, conscientious and compassionate. A member of the Scouts, Philippine was one of six children all brought up in the Catholic faith. She lived in Paris during the week but returned to her home near Versailles each weekend, where she would attend church each Sunday. The...

Daily Readings from the USCCBWhen the days for Jesus to be taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem, and he sent messengers ahead of him. Luke 9:51–52Shortly after Jesus spoke to His disciples about His pending suffering, death and resurrection, we read that Jesus “resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem.” There is much to reflect upon in that short statement. First of all, Jerusalem was the place of the Temple where the animal sacrifices of the Old Testament took place as a prefiguration of the one and ultimate sacrifice to come. Jesus came into this world...

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Ana Cabrera Reports” that people who feel the federal government’s response to Hurricane Helene was insufficient were warned about increasing extreme weather events. Cabrera said, “So you’re still in that search and rescue mode, it sounds like. Some residents into these impacted communities are telling us they feel like local and federal government was caught flat-footed. I want to get your reaction to some of what we’re hearing. North Carolinian Ricky Brown said, “There you go that is your government. They don’t care about us. You know what...

Blogger Taylor Lorenz has left the Washington Post several weeks after she posted an Instagram story that showed her attending a Joe Biden speech at the White House with the caption “war criminal :(.”Lorenz’s departure is being billed as her opportunity to become an internet “content creator” more than a traditional news reporter. She is starting a Substack called “User Magazine,” where she says she will discuss social media from a user perspective. Lorenz is a 40+-year-old New Yorker who often attempts to ingratiate herself within the culture of much younger, often sub-20-year-olds online. She gained notoriety by doxxing the...

A White House official warned US and Israeli media on Tuesday that Iran is planning to “imminently" attack the State of Israel with ballistic missiles. "We are actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack. A direct military attack from Iran against Israel will carry severe consequences for Iran," the official said. At the same time, the US announced that it was sending three fighter squadrons to the region. Iran has so far refrained from intervening militarily as its Hezbollah proxy continues to suffer significant losses in Lebanon. Some analysts speculated that the reason Iran has not acted...

Regarding natural disasters, the Biden-Harris duo is one for the record books in either incompetence or gross indifference. Whenever disaster strikes, you can always count on these two not to be with it regarding some response. With Hurricane Helene, the Biden administration’s ‘Katrina’ moment has arrived, and what an ugly picture it is. Like incompetents that they are, this administration is committing fouls that an actual media establishment would have excoriated them for, and rightfully so. Alas, Biden-Harris find themselves engulfed in an oasis of calm because they know the press won’t attack them, even if they are doing nothing...

by el gato maloIf ever there were a contest to find the living avatar of the phrase “the clothes have no emperor,” I’d pick John Kerry and pit him against all comers. I’m not sure there is an emptier suit in all the Beltway. It’s like someone did a gain-of-function experiment on patrician stupidity and entitlement, slapped a politician haircut on top, jolted the neck bolts to life, and sent it tottering down the hill towards some unsuspecting heiress. But such people are often useful, as they go to forums like the WEF and dazzle the Davos devotees with endless...

A cabinet-level political appointee of Minnesota's Democratic Gov. Tim Walz decorated the walls of her home with posters of murderous communist dictators, according to a photo posted on Facebook in December 2021 that was discovered by a Minnesota resident and shared with Fox News Digital. Ida Rukavina, the commissioner of Minnesota's Department of Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation, was appointed by Walz in 2022 to oversee the economic development of the northeastern part of the state, where the world's largest untapped copper-nickel reserve sits. ... Jimmy Carter Turns 100 President Jimmy Carter has turned 100, becoming the first former commander-in-chief to reach the triple digits and be the longest-lived former president in United States history.
