From the beginning of recorded history, humans have made monumental decisions based upon the needs of their children. Some parents would move far away from the land in which they themselves were born and raised, because they wanted their children to have a better chance in the world. The Pilgrims, who left England, and many who followed them, came to America both for religious freedom, and a better future for their children. Many may remember the television series based upon Laura Ingalls Wilders’ novel, Little House on The Prairie. It’s the story of a man who moved west so his...

.....After decades of being patched up on the cheap, London’s rental homes are in a state of comical disrepair. In one flat, my housemate and I spent an entire night trying to stop our sink from flooding the kitchen, which it tended to do whenever we used the washing machine thanks to a creative plumbing job the landlord had done while cramming another bedroom into the flat. I’m 28 now, and there’s a Section 21 notice in my inbox. My current landlord has decided to raise the rent beyond what I can afford, having already bumped it up last year...

Jack Black announced on social media that he’s canceling Tenacious D‘s current tour amid blowback against band partner Kyle Gass, who made a controversial comment at the band’s concert in Australia on July 14 related to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump. Black presented a cake to Gass on stage to celebrate the latter’s 64th birthday. When Black then asked Gass to make a wish, Gass responded: “Don’t miss Trump next time.” “I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday,” Black wrote in a follow-up statement. “I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence...

“The one who loves his brother abides in the light and there is no cause for stumbling in him” (1 John 2:10). Loving other Christians gives assurance to your own faith. Loving fellow Christians is instinctive for genuine believers. Paul told the Thessalonians, “Now as to the love of the brethren . . . you yourselves are taught by God to love one another” (1 Thess. 4:9). He further encouraged them to “excel still more” in love (v. 10) because there is always room for believers to love one another more completely. Nevertheless, if we are truly saved we will...

On the same day that a would-be assassin attempted to kill former President Donald Trump, Antifa militants attacked a group of people attending an evangelical Christian worship event in downtown Portland, Oregon. Some of the attackers wore militant black bloc uniforms, while others hid their identity behind Islamic keffiyeh scarves. The event attacked was the United Revival Jesus March, the same event that Antifa extremists attacked last year. Despite Rose City Antifa's attempt to spoil...

We were a movement defined by hedonism on a quest to leave religion behind and birth the counterculture. We chased sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll all through the 1960s and 1970s, only to come out of it wanting the American dream like everyone else. As we cut our hair, put on suits, bought homes, and became executives, we once again tried for the power of the presidency after the whole thing collapsed in 1980. Ronald Reagan rose because the Left and everything they stood for was nothing Americans wanted anymore, just like now. I came of age in the...

Daily Readings from the USCCB“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes. But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.” Matthew 11:21–22Chorazin and Bethsaida were Jewish towns that Jesus visited frequently to preach and to perform many “mighty deeds.” They were located just north of His city of residence, Capernaum. Tyre and Sidon were pagan coastal cities northeast of Chorazin and...

Mika Brzezinski began today's Morning Joe with an apparent expression of discontent about the show having been yanked off the air yesterday, pointedly saying "It is VERY good to be here." That apparent discontent become absolutely explicit an hour later in the show. Joe Scarborough in effect accused the NBC News suits of having lied to them in saying that they'd been taken off the air because there'd be one unified feed across all their networks yesterday. That didn't turn out to be so. Scarborough ended with what sounded like a threat to quit, saying: "Next time we're told there's...
