VIDEOJoe Biden showed up at a room partly filled with members of the Culinary Workers Union at the Vdara Hotel in Las Vegas and almost nothing happened. One of the things that didn't happen was enthusiasm on the part of the audience which, as you can see was almost nonexistent. Also missing was energy which remained at a very low level throughout the event. Keep in mind this was a carefully selected group of his supporters yet it still resulted in a laughably listless encounter.
  • Texas Stripped of Powers in Border Security Bill

Conservatives have attacked a provision of the new border security bill that would only allow legal challenges to be made in Washington D.C. The bill would strip the power of Texas and other states to challenge some of the its provisions in their local federal court. Conservative commentators were quick to denounce the provision, contained on page 221 of the bill. Bill Shipley, who was a federal prosecutor for over 20 years, decried the its court provisions on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday. "This would prevent plaintiffs - like the State of Texas - from filing suit in Texas federal...
  • ATF Preparing Rule To Regulate Private Gun Sales, Requiring Background Check

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is reportedly preparing a new rule to regulate private gun sales, requiring background checks via the FBI. Empower Oversight, representing IRS agents in the Hunter Biden case, has raised concerns about the move, calling it an “unconstitutional” power grab. The group argues that only Congress has the authority to enact such changes due to a 1986 law prohibiting background checks for private firearm sales. “Such an expansive rule that treats all private citizens the same as federal firearms licensees would circumvent the separation of powers in the Constitution, which grants ‘all...

“Free Speech” and the TruthXchange HermeneuticWe live in a culture of communicative clutter and confusion, as the 24/7 news cycle illustrates. And, we live in a state of affairs in which every act is deemed to be a political act.[1] Sadly, this is true of both Left and Right – everyone seeks political power – something which repelled the Framers. As Hamilton described certain public actors: they possess “the love of power, or the desire of pre-eminence and dominion.”[2] True then and true now.Does the TxC hermeneutic clear any fog on this. Does it pertain to ordering society? Does it...

United States exporters of thermal coal earned more than $5 billion in 2023 as they shipped out more than 32.5 million metric tons ... The thermal coal export earnings were the second-highest since 2017, following 2022's $5.7 billion. The total volumes were the highest since 2018 and came as U.S. power producers cut the amount of coal used in electricity generation to the lowest this century, ... The diverging trends between shrinking domestic coal use and robust coal exports open the United States to charges of hypocrisy .... Between 2013 and 2023, U.S. coal-fired power generation dropped by 57.5% from...

An Oklahoma man was awarded $25 million in damages after a jury concluded that the state’s largest newspaper intentionally harmed him when it wrongfully identified him as the high school sports announcer who hurled racist remarks at players. Scott Sapulpa was one of two announcers commentating on a March 2021 girls’ playoff game between Midwest City High School and Norman High School that made national headlines when the Norman team took a knee and the other commentator, Matt Rowan, went on a racist tirade against the girls.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is sounding the alarm, claiming a second term for former President Trump would create a “huge personnel problem” in the White House. “One, it’ll be a huge personnel problem of people who have no business being in senior positions in the federal government,” Christie told ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos in a recent interview. “And then secondly, I think we have to take him at his word.” “This is gonna be the vendetta presidency,” he added. Segments of the interview, which comes on the release of Christie’s third book — “What Would Reagan...

A federal appeals panel ruled Tuesday that Donald Trump can face trial on charges that he plotted to overturn the results of the 2020 election, rejecting the former president’s claims that he is immune from prosecution. The decision marks the second time in as many months that judges have spurned Trump’s immunity arguments and held that he can be prosecuted for actions undertaken while in the White House and in the run-up to Jan. 6, 2021, when a mob of his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol. But it also sets the stage for additional appeals from the Republican ex-president that...

Ratings-challenged CNN canceled its scandal-scarred morning news show in a massive shakeup, the cable network announced Monday. “CNN This Morning” — launched in November 2022 with a trio of hosts that included Don Lemon before he was fired — will no longer air from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m., CNN boss Mark Thompson said in a memo to staff. The show’s current co-anchors, Poppy Harlow and Phil Mattingly, will be reassigned, and the network will abandon producing the morning show in New York City — with the 50-person staff that worked on “CNN This Morning” from its glittering Hudson Yards...

South Korean drivers are concerned that their future EVs could catch fire while charging or in a car crash ... In 2020 and 2021, several high-profile cases of EVs catching fire were reported in South Korea. Three years ago, an electric bus manufactured by Hyundai Motor caught fire while in use. A few months earlier, Hyundai Motor recalled more than 77,000 Kona EVs sold globally after 13 of the electric crossover vehicles caught fire. Hyundai and its battery supplier LG Chem were at odds over the reasons for the recall, with the battery cell maker saying it wasn’t its battery...

WASHINGTON — A federal appeals court on Tuesday rejected Donald Trump’s broad claim that he is immune from prosecution for alleged criminal acts he committed as president in trying to overturn the 2020 election in a chain of events that led to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Trump will almost certainly appeal immediately to the Supreme Court in a bid to prevent the trial from going ahead as scheduled in March. The Supreme Court could make a quick decision on whether to hear the case and could fast-track any ruling. The three-judge panel of the U.S. Circuit Court...

Jussie Smollett is telling the Illinois Supreme Court a deal's a deal -- specifically, the deal prosecutors made when they dismissed the first indictment for faking an attack -- so he should never have been charged and prosecuted a second time. Smollett just filed legal docs with the highest court in the land of Lincoln, claiming after he was first indicted by a Cook County Grand Jury, the State's Attorney offered him a deal -- do community service, forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, and the case would not be prosecuted. Jussie points to the prosecutor, who said,...

It's a striking example of how Hamas exploits civilian resources for terrorism: a comprehensive manual provides detailed illustrations for use of Hydrogen Peroxide, a substance used in hospitals, in explosive and rocket propellant production. ...The manual consists of materials written in English, Arabic, and another language, likely Norwegian, outlining the distillation process of H202 for the production of explosives. These documents contain intricate schematics for constructing distillation equipment, as well as instructions on assembling homemade rockets and explosive charges.
