The number of Washington, DC, homicides reached 2003’s record high (248) under President Joe Biden’s prosecutor, police said Monday. The District’s soaring crime impacts local taxpayers and business owners. In recent months, several restaurants closed due to cost and crime. Whole parts of the city are impacted, such as H Street, where many shelves are bare. Below are six key D.C. crime statistics: U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves, who is responsible for prosecuting those D.C. police arrests, prosecuted only 56 percent of those arrested in 2023 Homicide rose 33 percent in 2023 Robbery spiked 67 percent...

With new revelations calling into question the theory of the "lone gunman", Clare Thorp explores how JFK's assassination continues to live on in popular culture. This November, it will be 60 years since the assassination of President John F Kennedy. A significant anniversary usually provides a chance to remember and reflect on past events – but, in the case of JFK's death, interest has never really faltered. Almost immediately after those gunshots rang out on a sunny autumn day in Dallas, speculation over Kennedy's death began, and it hasn't stopped since.

Tuesday, during an appearance on FNC’s “The Ingraham Angle,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said the reaction from the global left in recent weeks, which he included elections in Italy and Argentina and former President Donald Trump’s polling numbers, was “desperation.” According to the former House Speaker, the world was rejecting “left-wing radical, socialist values.” “I said that this is literally the behavior of an entire system, which understands that it’s on the verge of being destroyed,” he said. “They’re looking at what happened in Italy. They’re looking at what just happened this last week in Argentina. There is a...

Just some observations on general polling: *In 2020, with perhaps a very rare outlier, President Trump did not lead in a single national poll. Today he leads in almost all. For ex., Emerson, Trump +4, but if RFK, Jr. in the race, +6. In CNN, NBC, NYTimes, Trump is up from 2-4. He leads in the RCP average, which Faux News always manages to bring down with an anti-Trump poll. Right now RCP has Trump +2.2, or outside what many of us think is the "margin of fraud" based on 2020. (Remember, they had FIVE MONTHS of "mules" in 2020....

A 12-year-old Westchester County girl with a rare neurological condition has raised enough money to buy a new motorized wheelchair after her previous mobility aid was cruelly stolen from her front yard. Family friends of Aliyah Rivera, of Ossining, launched a fundraiser days after her wheelchair, laptop and other belongings were swiped just outside her house Thursday as she was getting ready for school. The preteen has been fighting Acute Flaccid Myelitis, an uncommon condition that attacks the nervous system – particularly a part of the spinal cord that causes the muscles and reflexes in the body to weaken, the...

Israel released security camera footage Monday from the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack that shows gunmen chasing down music festival attendees and executing a woman at point-blank range, Reuters reported. Israel is trying to deflect international criticism for its military incursion in the Gaza strip following the Hamas attacks, according to Reuters. Despite calls for a ceasefire to the war in Gaza, Israel has vowed to carry on with its military campaign until the Hamas threat is neutralized, the news agency reported. “This is a war between good and evil,” a post on a social media account linked to Israel’s...

As the Hamas Nazi infrastructure crumbles, literally — one building and one tunnel after another — and figuratively, with the desperation of its decimated operatives ever more apparent, one of its commanders, known as Abu Mohammed, in Gaza has publicly condemned the terror group’s leaders — Ismail Haniya and Yahya Sinwar — for having “betrayed” the group’s fighters. Almost all of Hamas’ leaders, including Haniya, Khaled Meshaal, and Mousa Abu Marzouk, are living in five-star hotels in Doha, where they watch the fighting in Gaza from afar, and count the money they have each stolen over the years from funds...

The leader of North Carolina's progressive Democrat caucus said that the Jewish Caucus affiliating with the party would "end" it. Ryan Jenkins, president of the Tar Heel State's progressive caucus, attacked the North Carolina Democratic Jewish Caucus (NCDJC) after the group was denied affiliation with the state's Democratic Party. Last week, the NCDJC was denied affiliation with the North Carolina Democratic Party (NCDP) in a vote of 17 no votes, 16 yes votes and 17 abstentions, according to local news reports. "[If the caucus is approved,] we’re telling them very clearly they are allowed to threaten and bully us, and...

Carlson spoke at the Risk On 360! Global Success Conference in Las Vegas and discussed his views on the issues within America both politically and culturally. Carlson began his speech by highlighting how the majority of Americans he knows are “angry and paranoid.” “I flew out here across the country this morning and spent five hours texting people … and I gotta tell you, every single person I texted, with the...

Former President Trump widened his lead against President Biden by four points in a hypothetical 2024 presidential match-up, according to a new poll. The Emerson College Polling survey, released Wednesday, shows Trump’ holding on to his 47 percent support, while Biden’s fell from 45 to 43 percent. About 10 percent of voters in the poll were undecided. The survey also found that if a third-party candidate were added to the hypothetical situation — such as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West or Jill Stein — support for both Trump and Biden fell and the amount of undecided voters increased.

To the Editor of the New-York Times: I send for publication in the TIMES a list of three hundred and fifty of our paroled men who came on the steamer New-York to this point yesterday. They were in a most wretched condition. Six poor fellows died on board on the way from Fortress Monroe. Only three of these could tell their names and regiment. These were G.B. WINGATE, First Massachusetts cavalry; J. LESH, Co. D, Eighteenth Pennsylvania Volunteer cavalry; and GEORGE MULHOLLAND, Sixty-ninth Pennsylvania Volunteers. Two also died as soon as we got them into their wards at the hospital....

The California State Water Board is currently drafting the regulations needed to implement Senate Bill 1157, which is possibly the most misguided, unnecessary, intrusive, expensive disaster of a law ever passed by the state legislature. Passed and signed by Governor Newsom in 2022, SB 1147 requires California’s water agencies to limit residential indoor water use to 47 gallons per person per day starting in 2025 and 42 gallons in 2030. The theme promoted by the State Water Board as they conduct hearings and solicit public comments is “Making Water Conservation a Way of Life.” Rationing would be a more apt...

I believe God has to accomplish a work in us before we can lay claim to any covenant promise. What is this precedent work upon which all others depend? Jeremiah tells us. “I will put my fear in their hearts so that they will not depart from me” (Jeremiah 32:40, NKJV). God’s foundational work of the covenant is to put his fear into our hearts by the work of the Holy Spirit. Jeremiah is speaking here of the provisions of God’s new covenant, not the old one. God tells us very clearly how this first work of the covenant will...

The fall of the Berlin Wall was indeed a watershed in the collapse of the Soviet Empire, yet one could argue the true death knell came two months before at a small grocery store in Clear Lake, Texas.. he fall of the Soviet Union is sometimes remembered as Nov. 9, 1989, the day the Berlin Wall symbolically collapsed. While the physical barrier endured for some two more years, on that day, East German Communist Party officials announced they would no longer stop citizens of the German Democratic Republic from crossing the border. The fall of the barrier that scarred Germany...

Over 30 staffers of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson called on the progressive lawmaker to back a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war on Tuesday, signaling increased pressures between Democrats over the conflict. The letter, first reported by Politico, urges Johnson to join Chicago city council member Rossana Rodríguez-Sánchez’s calls for Chicago leaders, President Biden and the Democratic Party to back a cease-fire.
