Black mothers are the canaries in the coal mine when it comes to the mental and physical harms of stress from living with gun violence in America. In the U.S., Black people are likelier than white people to reside in impoverished, racially segregated communities with high levels of gun violence. Research has suggested that living in violent and unsafe environments can result in continuous traumatic stress, a constant form of PTSD. Researchers have also linked experiences of violence and poverty to an increased risk of chronic disease such as cancer and cardiovascular, respiratory and neurodegenerative diseases. We are Black women...

The committee to recall Kevin Crye, the Shasta County Citizens for Stable Governance, served its Intention to Recall papers last week. And, following that, Crye told KRCR the group is made of "liberal democrats against a conservative republican." Chair of the committee, and retired project manager of a global engineering firm, Tim Hill, is a lifelong Republican and says that's just not the case. \/ This isn't about political parties, it's not about peoples' families, it's not about peoples' faith, this about about someone's performance in a job that is horrible," Hill told KRCR's Mike Mangas on Tuesday. "I just...

Is America actually being ruled by a blowzy blond teachers' union activist and community college "professor," instead of the dotard the voters supposedly voted for in Joe Biden? Sure seems like it, given a recent political-insider report from Politico (snip) "As first lady, she has had a consistent presence within her husband’s close-knit team. Some aides have described her as “the closer” — the confidant the president trusts to give him unfiltered advice before he reaches a decision." In other words, what Jill wants, Jill gets. Given Biden's incompetence, she's effectively the final handler whom Joe constantly insists he needs...

If you want to know about the fascinating and fast-developing technologies of artificial intelligence, we cover everything from machine learning and general AI to neural networks. *snip* Artificial intelligence can be divided into three widely accepted subcategories: narrow AI, general AI, and super AI. What is narrow AI?Artificial narrow intelligence (ANI) is crucial to voice assistants, such as Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant. This category includes intelligent systems that have been designed or trained to carry out specific tasks or solve particular problems, without being explicitly designed to do so. ANI might often be referred to as weak AI, as...

Things weren’t supposed to move this quickly. Just hours after First Republic was dissected, two more major banks are in very serious trouble. Are the dominoes going to start to fall more quickly than we were anticipating? After his bank gobbled up First Republic, Jamie Dimon told the world that “this part of the crisis is over”, and many in the corporate media believed him. On Tuesday, “fears around contagion in the regional banking sector” pushed stock prices significantly lower… Stocks tumbled on Tuesday as traders’ fears around contagion in the regional banking sector returned ahead of the Federal Reserve’s...

A text message sent by Tucker Carlson that set off a panic at the highest levels of Fox on the eve of its billion-dollar defamation trial showed its most popular host sharing his private, inflammatory views about violence and race. The discovery of the message contributed to a chain of events that ultimately led to Mr. Carlson’s firing. In the message, sent to one of his producers in the hours after violent Trump supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, Mr. Carlson described how he had recently watched a video of a group of men — Trump supporters, he...

Pray For The Peace of JerusalemLuke 5 Jesus Questioned About Fasting 33 They said to him, “John’s disciples often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking.” 34 Jesus answered, “Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? 35 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; in those days they will fast.” 36 He told them this parable: “No one tears a piece out of a new garment to patch an old one. Otherwise, they will have torn...

Oregon Secretary of State Shemia Fagan will resign next week. Fagan plans to resign on May 8 due to a political scandal. Fagan has received criticism for her decision to take a $10,000-per-month side job as a cannabis consultant. The contract came from the owners of a cannabis chain that her office was responsible for auditing, according to Oregon Public Broadcasting. Deputy Secretary of State Cheryl Myers will take over the post until Governor Tina Kotek appoints a successor. Initially, Fagan tried to justify the role. However, she backed down in the face of increased scrutiny and apologized on Monday.

When I was in the Boy Scouts, we used to send new scouts on a snipe hunt during their first campout. It was a search through the woods for a made-up creature that didn’t exist. The exercise was a good-natured joke to welcome them to the troop. (Note: Snipes are a real bird, but that doesn’t change the joke). Snipe hunting is also a gag the FBI plays on itself. Only the FBI calls the snipes “white supremacist domestic terrorists” -- which are apparently harder to find than Boy Scout snipes. The feds use the “white supremacist” qualifier to avoid...

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey joined 21 other Republican attorneys general in filing a legal brief urging the Colorado Supreme Court to hear an appeal by a Christian cake artist who lost a First Amendment case in a lower court. Last month, Masterpiece Cakeshop owner Jack Phillips and the Alliance Defending Freedom filed a petition with Colorado’s highest court to overturn a state Court of Appeals decision. It found Phillips violated Colorado’s Anti-Discrimination Act when in 2012 he refused to make a blue and pink cake for attorney Autumn Scardina who stated in a phone conversation it was to celebrate...

The United States Navy has turned to a drag performer in its efforts to reach younger recruits on digital platforms and social media. Yeoman 2nd Class Joshua Kelley, whose stage name is Harpy Daniels, announced on TikTok in November that he would be the Navy's first 'digital ambassador,' highlighting his journey from performing on board beginning in 2018 and growing to become an 'advocate' for those who 'were oppressed for years in the service.' Kelley, who identifies as non-binary, was one of just five active sailors to participate as 'digital ambassadors' for the Navy in its 'efforts to reach a...

A jury found four former Commonwealth Edison executives and lobbyists guilty of bribery-related charges Tuesday as part of an eight-year conspiracy scheme centered around former Democratic Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan. In the highest-profile corruption case in Illinois in more than a decade, the jury convicted the defendants on all counts. "We're tired of political corruption," juror Amanda Schnitker Sayers said after the verdict. "We're hoping this is a first step." The Chicago veterinarian put the blame on Madigan. "He really did cause this all to happen," she said. Although Madigan wasn't on trial, the longest-serving state legislative leader in...

What isn’t fiction is the sinister reason behind the push. Last August, Mark Mills, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, published a prescient report entitled “The ‘Energy Transition’ Delusion: A Reality Reset.” The report demonstrates convincingly that the transition to Net Zero Emissions (NZE), if politically imposed, will mean a dramatically reduced standard of living for the world’s advanced industrial societies. It’s an excellent essay, but it misses the mark because Mills misses the real point of the leftist push for a “green energy” revolution: For leftists, NZE is not about the climate. Instead, NZE is simply a vehicle...

Bill Maher interviewed Elon Musk and discussed the new progressive ideology, which Elon Musk calls the “woke mind virus.” Maher said he is being called a conservative, and so is Musk. Maher, a liberal, said he hasn’t changed. They’ve changed. Musk, a self-described moderate who said he voted for Joe Biden, agreed. They are left behind. Maher said the WOKEs are the opposite of liberals. He seemed surprised as if it was news. Parents Don’t Know What the Kids Are Being Taught They don’t seem to know where this insanity came from. “Did it escape from a lab? What is...
