China has finished three days of military drills around Taiwan, which included "sealing off" the island and simulating targeted strikes. Taiwan said it had detected jets to its east, while China said its Shandong aircraft carrier had taken part. Beijing began the exercises on Saturday after Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen met the US House Speaker in California. After the drills ended, Taiwan's defence ministry said it would not stop strengthening its combat preparedness.

A simulation based on apocalyptic images designed to highlight “the disastrous effects of climate change” had the opposite impact on those who viewed it and failed to shift attitudes, a study from Singapore Management University details. The work was based on Hong Kong citizens being shown a life-like 3D depiction of a climate-induced six-metre storm surge on their city. Ukraine has been forced to amend some of its military plans ahead of a much-vaunted counteroffensive due to a leak of classified U.S. documents, CNN reported on Monday citing a source close to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Ukrainian officials told Reuters on Friday the allegedly leaked documents contained fictitious information and looked like a Russian disinformation campaign. U.S. officials are trying to find the source of a leak of classified documents detailing a wide array of topics from Ukraine's air defenses to Israel's Mossad spy agency.
