BUTCHER'S THUMB — April 19th, 2026
This week’s butcher’s thumb shows a clear pattern: multiple networks booking U.N. Ambassador Mike Waltz, strong foreign-policy emphasis, and a noticeable focus on energy, Middle East dynamics, and early 2026 positioning. CBS leans institutional and diplomatic, Fox blends domestic politics with international voices, NBC mixes geopolitics with cultural and municipal leadership, ABC runs a wide-ranging foreign-policy hour, CNN leans establishment messaging, and Bartiromo delivers a high-profile, national-security-focused lineup.
FACE THE NATION (CBS)
CBS is running a “diplomacy + legal authority + energy and economic policy” hour. Waltz anchors the foreign-policy segment. Holder provides the legal and institutional lane. Hochstein adds energy and economic framing. Adams brings a public-health perspective.
What to watch:
Whether Brennan centers the hour on U.N. diplomacy or pivots toward domestic legal and economic themes.
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network)
Fox is running an “energy policy + Senate contrast + 2026 candidate spotlight” hour. Wright anchors the energy-policy discussion. Kaine and Scott provide bipartisan Senate voices. Cameron adds a 2026 Senate-race dimension. The panel blends campaign strategy, political analysis, and media framing.
What to watch:
How Bream positions Wright’s segment within the broader economic and geopolitical context.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC)
NBC is running a “U.N. diplomacy + municipal leadership + cultural and economic analysis” hour. Waltz provides the foreign-policy anchor. Mamdani brings a city-governance perspective. Grede adds a business and cultural-economy angle. Kornacki provides data-driven political context. The panel blends communications, strategy, and reporting.
What to watch:
Whether Welker uses Waltz as the hour’s anchor or shifts quickly to domestic political dynamics.
THIS WEEK (ABC)
ABC is running a “foreign policy + Middle East analysis + global cooperation” hour. Waltz anchors the diplomatic lane. Khanna provides the Democratic policy voice. Al Hashimy adds a Gulf-state perspective. Ganyard and Sadjadpour deepen the military and regional analysis. Pearlman provides a lighter cultural segment. The roundtable blends strategists and political analysts.
What to watch:
Whether ABC treats the Middle East block as a standalone segment or ties it to broader 2026 implications.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN)
CNN is running an “energy policy + House leadership + mixed-ideology panel” hour. Wright anchors the energy-policy discussion. Stefanik provides the Republican leadership lane. The panel blends Democratic and Republican voices with strategic communications.
What to watch:
How Tapper/Bash frames Wright’s appearance within the broader economic and geopolitical landscape.
SUNDAY MORNING FUTURES (FNC)
Futures is running a “high-profile foreign-policy + oversight + national security” hour. Pahlavi anchors the foreign-policy segment with an Iran focus. Dhillon provides the civil-rights and legal lane. Schmitt and Pfluger add Senate and House oversight perspectives. This is a classic Futures hour: high-profile guests, strong national-security framing, and oversight themes.
What to watch:
Whether Bartiromo structures the hour around Pahlavi’s segment or uses it as the capstone.

“The Sunday Morning Bray”, by Bray!
Luke 9:23-24 (King James Version)
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
The talks with Iran went exactly as 99% of the people knew it would go as they showed the remnants of their gummit are still fanatics who want America dead. Any agreement woud not be worth the paper it was written on anyway with Islamic fanatics. The main purpose of the talks were to find out who if anyone was in charge and if there were anything they would agree to. Everyone knows whoever agrees to giving up the nuclear weapons development would be hanging from a crane when he got back.
President Trump can say he gave them every chance he could before he takes out their electrical grid and transportation networks. He can do it anytime he wants although most likely will happen in the next four or five days without any notice so they cannot put women and children on them. Now you see how Israel were blamed for killing civilians in Gaza and elsewhere, they always put women and children around their military targets. You can bet they were threatened if they did not attend with their children.
Trump also brilliantly declared a blockade to stop their blockade. He said, two can play this game and is going to starve them out. His blockade will not cost any lives an invasion would cost and will clear the Strait of any mines or hostiles who could attack any of these ships. He likely told them at the meeting if any Iranian even looks at a ship and they will not have power for a year and a missile will take out their main bridges in and out of Iran.
If anyone thinks America is suffering from this skirmish they should look at the Iranian economy. It is estimated Iran ships around $13 Billion in petroleum products a month through the Strait which as of tomorrow will be lowered to zero. This is a very cash poor country whose currency is now valued at $1.5 million rials per US dollar, it was $40,000 at the start of the campaign. The people are eating dogs right now, which is worse than eating rats since there is no food.
The entire economy has collapsed and the sooner they can get to pumping oil the better their chances of surviving. A hungry populous is a dangerous one. There has been rumors of people hunting down their Republican Guard and the Iranian army fighting the ruling Guard but very little information or communication getting out to the regular sources and what can you trust. Nobody has heard from the Supreme Gayatollah who has only been seen as a cardboard cutout, got a match?
He is going to do the same thing to Iran he did to Venezuela and likely get the same result since they are in the same dire situation economically. The only thing that had them surviving was selling oil to the Chinese at discounted prices to get around the fake sanctions. Now they have a total embargo with no way around in the quantities they need to sell and is simply a waiting game.
Anyone who thinks the Federal shutdown is a pain with no workers getting paid, Iran hasn’t had anyone paid in months and now is very desperate. They cannot get weapons since they have no way of paying for them and all the roads are being watched from drones and satellites and if anything looks suspicious it gets blown up.
Once the Strait gets open to the rest of the countries the oil prices will return to normal and Iran will still be strangled. They have no options and will have to surrender or get overrun by their own people.
Trump has won this battle it is just a matter of when and by how much. Once their ships are shut down the clock will be ticking and even their biggest fanatics will understand dog stew is going to be the Sunday Special with a heaping helping of allah humble pie.
The markets including oil should stabilize as the banks and investors realize there is a solid plan to open the Strait and replace the oil lost in the battle but the rest of the countries oil will begin coming through.
Iran will be left to embargo their own oil while watching their economy continue to crash or call Trump and agree to his demands. It will cost no lives or boots on the ground just time and economics which is the real nuclear weapon. Nobody has fought a war like this and there never has been a President like Donald J Trump.
Pray for Iran’s Revival

Old Business Card rule of thumb.
Inverse relationship between your importance and the number of words in your job title.

Just Wow!

A little off topic

The markets should stay stable. Long term a couple of terrorists breaking the cease fire can be dealt with. Trump can take out a power plant and keep the embargo with protection for ships and oil will be flowing while the world waits them out.
China has got to be pissed at those idiots breaking the agreement since they are who are being hurt the worst. Gas is down around 20 cents today.
Fine
Sen. Tim coKaine (D-Va.);
Ugh...He makes Spamberger look smart
Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.);
If he's on after CoKaine, he can talk about term limits. He's trying to get a term limit bill passed ..
Daniel Cameron, Republican candidate for Kentucky Senator.
Better than China Mitch...
Perhaps a live collab will take place,I can see Zohran in a flowing evening gown now! The next Met gala will be mahvolus!
Really? What is newsworthy about a fashion designer for an overrated bunch of lowlifes??
She hates Trump and is not afraid to say so on TV?

From link:
“As it is written in Psalm 19:1, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.”
The Artemis II crew saw God’s work in all its magnificence and were left awestruck by the experience.
The more you learn about God’s creation the less you understand. It had to be made by God since nothing could create something this miraculous.
If anyone is wondering, Thread Stalwart Rodguy911 has gone fishing this morning.
I hope he catches us all something nice and plenty of them!
We’ll want photos, Rod!
So she’s a British Businesswomen, so her opinion of MY PRESIDENT is low, in my humble opinion, I doubt I could go on a BBC Sunday talk and tell the subjects of Britain that I hate King Charles and Stammer... 🤣
