A month after Russia informed the U.S. that it is suspending participation in the last remaining nuclear pact between the two countries, a senior Pentagon official said on Tuesday that Moscow is now refusing to hand over data on its nuclear warheads, due at the end of this week. In response, the U.S. will not provide Russia with data on its deployed strategic warheads, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Space Policy John Plumb said on Capitol Hill. In the aftermath of the Nashville mass murder, Tucker Carlson notes the increasing conflict between the “transgender” movement and Christianity.Carlson notes, “Trans ideology claims dominion over nature itself. We can change the identity we were born with, they will tell you with wild-eyed certainty. Christians can never agree with this statement because these are powers they believe God alone possesses.” Within that conflict lies the origin of the need for transgender advocates to violently target Christians.

Pandemics kill people in two ways, said Chris Whitty at the start of the Covid outbreak: directly and indirectly, via disruption. He was making the case for caution amidst strong public demand for lockdown, stressing the tradeoffs. While Covid deaths were counted daily, the longer-term effects would take years to come through. The only real way of counting this would be to look at ‘excess deaths’, i.e. how many more people die every month (or year) compared to normal. That data is now coming through. Using the most common methodology, Sweden is at the bottom – below Australia and New...

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a former Donald Trump supporter, may be setting himself up as an alternative to Trump’s presidential re-run. Speaking at a town hall at St. Anselm College in Goffstown, New Hampshire on Monday, Christie said whoever takes on Trump must be “fearless” and skillful on the debate stage: “You better have somebody on that stage who can do to him what I did to Marco [Rubio], because that’s the only thing that’s gonna defeat Donald Trump,” Christie said, recalling the 2016 primary debate where he called out Rubio’s “inexperience,” as indicated by Rubio’s “memorized 25-second”...

A cup of wild blueberries a day may keep low energy at bay. The berries have long been hailed as a superfood. While they're known for a plethora of health benefits, new research proves this superfruit could help burn fat during exercise. The study, recently published in the journal Nutrients and the first to examine wild blueberries' fat-burning effects during exercise in non-elite athletes, suggests that wild blueberries may help accelerate fat oxidation—the process of breaking down fatty acids or burning fats for energy. The study included 11 healthy aerobically trained males. Each was instructed to follow a diet that...

Head of Norwegian manufacturer Nammo says plans to increase production at its largest factory are affected by demands of nearby data centre One of Europe’s largest ammunition manufacturers has said efforts to meet surging demand from the war in Ukraine have been stymied by a new TikTok data centre that is monopolising electricity in the region close to its biggest factory. Calls for police to release the "manifesto" that authorities say was written ahead of Monday's Nashville school shooting has prompted concern among LGBTQ+ groups, who caution against the publication of such a document. While many details remain to be unveiled about the massacre at The Covenant School this week, police have identified the shooter as 28-year-old Audrey Hale. On Monday, Hale, armed with two assault-style weapons—a rifle and a pistol—as well as a handgun, fatally shot three children and three staff members at the school before being killed by police. Speaking at a press conference hours after the shooting, Metropolitan...

Investigators say the suspect's parents felt the 28-year-old should not own weapons, and did not realise the guns had been concealed in their house. Six people, including three children age nine, were killed in the attack at the Covenant School. The suspect was under "doctor's care for an emotional disorder", police say. Tennessee has no laws that allow police to seize guns from violent suspects. Despite the absence of such so-called red-flag laws, police said they would still have sought to have the weapons confiscated if authorities had had any warning that the suspect could have posed a threat.

Eating peanuts and peanut butter could have a beneficial impact on vascular health in young and healthy people, according to a study. Peanuts are the most widely consumed nuts worldwide. High in fatty acids, protein, fiber and polyphenols, they represent a convenient, accessible and nutrient-rich snack. This study included the participation of 63 healthy young people—aged between 18 and 33—who included a daily portion of peanut products in their regular diet for a period of six months. "In this study group, it is more difficult to see any effect of dietary changes on health," says Professor Rosa M. Lamuela. This...
