“President Biden is prioritizing politics over his own people,” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said at a signing ceremony for a bill that would nullify a Department of Labor rule that allowed retirement plan investment managers to prioritize environmental or social factors (ESG) over financial benefits when making investment decisions should it pass into law. Happening now: I'm about to sign the first bipartisan bill of the year, then send it to the president's desk. It blocks Biden's woke ESG agenda and puts workers over Wall Street. https://t.co/cXauyBoTrv— Kevin McCarthy (@SpeakerMcCarthy) March 9, 2023The rule in question, established in December 2022,...

With tax season upon us, Twitter users had a field day joking about parts of the IRS Publication 525 that look as though they belong on the pages of the Babylon Bee. “If you steal property, you must report its fair market value in your income in the year you steal it unless you return it to its rightful owner in the same year,” a portion of the 2022 tax guide states. What about if you’re involved in other crimes, like drug dealing? The IRS wants its fair share of that income, too.“Income from illegal activities, such a money from dealing...

As we previously reported, fireworks and a Democrat festival of fail were on full display Thursday during the House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on the weaponization of the federal government. The hearing relates to the Twitter Files and all that has been revealed by their release so far about efforts at the federal government level to collude with Twitter’s old regime to suppress speech and in the process violate the First Amendment. At one point during the hearing, there was a clash between committee chair Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and freshman Rep. Daniel Goldman (D-N.Y.), a “rules for thee but not...

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration flags 42,000 so-called "federal employee non-filers" and states the government is limited in its authority to punish them, according to the Washington Times. The IRS puts little effort into targeting the non-filers because of laws that restricts how much information the agency can share with other federal agencies, so it has limit ability to prod or punish the employees, the audit found. As of 2021, delinquent federal employees owed $1.5 billion in unpaid taxes, The Times also reports. “Repeatedly not filing a tax return when a taxpayer is required to do so is...

In the name of transparency, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has vowed to release the Jan. 6, 2021, security footage to the general public. During an interview with Breitbart, McCarthy explained the more than 40,000 hours of tape will need to be reviewed first to address any security concerns. The pledge comes after the California Republican gave the footage to Fox News’s Tucker Carlson, who has been covering portions of the previously unseen video this week. “We just want to make sure we go through them all, and it takes time,” McCarthy said. “The first thing that Tucker said too, he...

Maybe the rats do run this city. New York City rodents can carry the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19 – and researchers fear it could be transmitted to humans, according to a new study. The new research, published Thursday in the American Society for Microbiology “mBio,” determined that the rats could be infected with the Alpha, Delta and Omicron variants. “Our findings highlight the need for further monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 in rat populations for potential secondary zoonotic transmission to humans,” Dr. Henry Wan, the study’s principal investigator, said in a statement. “Overall, our work in this space shows that animals...

This week on his Wednesday night Glenn TV special, Glenn will delve into ESG and how large corporations are using YOUR money to fund woke agendas—while also compromising the return on your investment. As Glenn's audience is well aware, ESG stands for "environmental, social, and governance." It's a scoring system for businesses based on their compliance with environmental and social standards that has turned into a quasi-extortion scheme, forcing investment companies to use YOUR assets to fund progressive projects. It is vitally important that fighting ESG becomes a central campaign item heading into the 2024 Presidential debate. 14 states have...

Parents will be held responsible by God for their children’s education, says the Bible. This was a view shared by the majority of America’s founders. But today there is great defiance against this on the part of many in our educational establishment. Many leaders in the educational system seem to think they know better than the parents as to what should and should not be taught.FoxNews.com reports: “A Colorado elementary school’s private emails show secret plans to defy parents’ wishes on transitioning their child's gender.”Recently, a Fairfax (Virginia) County parent, Neeley McCallister noted: “As parents, it is our primary duty to...

Former Saddleback Church pastor and founder Rick Warren recently laid out three passages from the Bible that led him to conclude that it is acceptable for women to serve in the office of pastor.Saddleback Church, the California-based megachurch founded by Warren in 1980, was recently expelled from the Southern Baptist Convention for having a woman fill the office of teaching pastor. The church plans to appeal the decision later this year. Since Warren's retirement last year, the church has been led by Andy and Stacie Wood. In a podcast interview with former SBC Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission President Russell...

Ah, memories! I still remember the 2000s housing bubble and subsequent financial crisis and bank bailout from 2008/2009 like it was yesterday. And I remember Representative Barney Frank (D-MA) claiming that the Dodd-Frank legislation would end bank bailouts. I laughed out loud when I heard Mr. Frank utter those preposterous words. Now here we are again with yet another bank contagion. First it was Silicon Valley Bank, now it is First Republic Bank (down -28% at opening). And there is a trading halt on First Republic. But YoY growth on FRC’s earnings of -34.7% is horrendous.

More than two dozen Republicans on the House Oversight and Accountability Committee have refused to join Democrats in signing a letter denouncing white supremacy. Earlier this week, ranking member Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) sent a letter to Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) urging Republicans to join him and his fellow Democrats in denouncing “white nationalism and white supremacy in all its forms, including the ‘Great Replacement’ conspiracy theory.” Though all 20 committee Democrats signed the letter, all 26 Republicans on the committee refused to sign. The letter comes after the committee’s recent hearing “On the Front Lines of the Border Crisis:...

Texas has executed an inmate convicted of the drug-related killings of four people more than 30 years ago, including a woman who was 9-months pregnant. Arthur Brown Jr., 52, insisted he was innocent before receiving a lethal injection Thursday evening at the state penitentiary in Huntsville. He was condemned for the June 1992 slayings, which took place in a Houston home during a drug robbery. Authorities said Brown was part of a ring that shuttled drugs from Texas to Alabama and had bought drugs from Jose Tovar and his wife Rachel Tovar. MINNEAPOLIS — A journey that began four years ago has now come to an end for powerlifter JayCee Cooper after a judge ruled that USA Powerlifting indeed discriminated against Cooper, who is transgender, when she was banned from competing in women's competitions. "I feel mostly relief, I think we needed a win here and it feels good to get that," Cooper said. For Cooper, the sport she loves so much came with thorns. "I never even got a chance you know?" she said in a video produced by Gender Justice in 2021. "No one should have to experience that kind...

When Republican border governors began busing illegal aliens that the federal government released into their states to northern big cities like New York, Washington, and Chicago, the Democratic mayors in those cities whined incessantly that they were being forced to make good on their promises to be a welcome haven for illegal aliens. Actually, their whine was more of a political attack. “It is unimaginable what the governor of Texas has done, when you think about this country, a country that has always been open to those who were fleeing persecution,” New York City Mayor Eric Adams said. “We’ve always...

The U.S. economy added 311,000 jobs in February and the unemployment rate rose to 3.6 percent, according to data released Friday by the Labor Department. Economists had been expecting around 225,000 jobs to be added in February and for the unemployment rate to remain at 3.4 percent. Despite the strong headline jobs gain, the report showed signs labor market may finally be buckling under the pressure of eight consecutive interest rate hikes by the Federal Reserve. Average hourly earnings—a measure of wages—rose 0.2 percent in February to land at a 4.6-percent annual increase, falling below expectations. That means wage pressures...
